Sorry John. I joined but forgot to put your id. You should have made the first link (at the top of the post) also a refferal link.

Open only to posts about blogging for business/money... oh well.
I am proud of the quality of my posts, and I don't write primarily for money. The prizes available for blogs that are not about cyber business are extremely rare and hard won. Someone not in the biz may find you and write you a book contract or pay you to write for their online magazine. It's just about like being struck by lightning.
I am wearing an aluminum hat.

wow money for posts eh. I guess that kind of marketing budget is reasonable if you have enough traffic to support it, or if you can generate it.

ValueWiki.com's giving away $100 cash every weekday in February to the best wiki contributor. Plus a $500 cash grand prize on March 1st. We've already given away $1,100 cash. Maybe I'm biased, but I think that sounds like a better contest!!

You cannot compare my contest to EarnersForums. For one he only ran one contest. This is my second contest which started as soon as the previous one ended.

Also, I am giving prizes away in different categories. Top posters is only one category. I have categories for top quality posters, as well, for example, which helps encourage high quality posts.

There were also other issues with EarnersForums which made it turn out the way it did... but please don't foretell the future (Ex. "This will only result in short-term.") if you are basing this on the points you mentioned.

Thanks for the heads up. I was in a rush today to see my accountant. And of course, rushing is on my list on blogging mistakes.
