2007 AMD Microsoft Tech Tour Registration Now Open
Registration for the 2007 AMD Microsoft Tech Tour is now open. I missed this event last year because it happened while I was in Taipei for Computex. I had to send staff writers to cover it. This year, the Vancouver tour is happening on May 15th so I’ll be able to attend since I won’t be flying to Taipei until June 2nd.
If you have never attended an AMD Tech Tour, I highly recommend it. The tour is a lot of fun, there’s a lot of free stuff given away and a buffet dinner is included in the admission price. Speaking of admission price, here’s the best part - the price is zero! That’s right, the event is completely free to attend. The AMD Microsoft Tech Tour happens between April to June in 19 cities across the US and Canada. Find a closest tour to your city.
Just like last year’s Tech Tour, this year’s event will feature a nice hardware bundle that you can buy for just $349.00. That gets you an AMD Athlon 64 dual-core 4400+ CPU, ASUS M2A-VM with AMD 690G Chipset motherboard, and Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate OS. The bundle will be available for purchase at the event but only to system builders or resellers of Microsoft software, or employees of a Microsoft retail partner. I’ll find someway to qualify.
The AMD Tech Tour is designed for resellers and system builders. You have to be in the industry if you want to attend this event. However, if you’re evil enough, you’ll figure a way to get in even if you’re not part the industry. I hope to see a few John Chow dot Com readers at the Vancouver Tech Tour.

I remember AMD giving out freebies to attend their online webcasts with Sun and Microsoft. I sincerly hope they survive the difficulties they are facing now against Intel and rock their way through.
Reply to this commentAMD is one company I admire and have been using it since AMD 1700+XP (Throughbred) was released.
Same here, been using them for 6+ years
Reply to this commentThey’ll survive - especially since they bought ATI!
Reply to this commentI’m an INTEL man, so there!
I don’t have anything against attending and getting free swag tho!
If only I was closer.
Reply to this commentPersonally, I don’t think it really matters. I’m not rendering video or playing the latest, greatest games…
Reply to this commentYou could build a nice little system starting with that. I would probably not qualify.
Reply to this commentIt’s a trade show, there are always ways around rules like that!
Reply to this commentAMD used to offer a desktop and server bundle. I guess either the lines between the two have blurred or times are tougher for them?
Reply to this commentI doubt it, there is a big difference between the server and consumer lines!
Reply to this commentWhat kind of free swag did your crew score at last years event, just curious?
Reply to this commentI’m going

Reply to this commentWow. That’s a pretty sweet deal. Too bad I’m not quite in that industry (Network Engineer).
Reply to this commentStick up a blog about technology and write some posts, then you should be able to get in as you are “part of the media”
Reply to this commentHoping I will be able to make it to this conference!
