It’s been fours years since I attended a Consumer Electronics Show (my last one was in 2008). Things have changed a lot in only four years. While this is the second biggest show ever in terms of floor space (over 1.6 million square feet) and the biggest in terms of attendance (over 150,000 people), there has been a huge shift in some of the industry.
For example, the entire north hall used to house all the booming car audio and hot booth babes. Now, they share half the hall with accessories made for Apple products, and Apple doesn’t even come to CES! I’ll be going out on the floor to bring you all the cool stuff. Here’s a quick “preview” video. Look for more in a few hours.

One of the most common complaint (or excuse) I hear from potential new bloggers is they don’t know how to install WordPress. Terms like FTP and CPanel are like a foreign language and setting up a database might as well be setting up the space shuttle for a launch. The iLounge part of North Hall has been there for at least a couple of years now. I guess there’s more money to be made in a bunch of iPod cases than in high-end car audio.

Is it expensive to attend?
@Steve @ Canadian Personal Finance I have no idea. I never paid to attend a trade show before. However, I think the show floor is free if you pre-registered. Options like conference sessions and keynotes will add to the price.
