$3,700 Raised for The Union Gospel Mission

written by John Chow on October 6th, 2007

I want to thank everyone who made a donation to help the Union Gospel Mission feed the hungry for this Thanksgiving. Because of you, over 1,400 people on the streets of Vancouver will be able to enjoy a hot meal.

I asked for your help and you’ve answered. I’ve received donation from 44 readers who gave $1,850.39 over the past three days. As promised, I will be matching this with my own $1,850.39 donation to bring the total donation to $3,700.78. This is a nearly a four fold increase over the matching Easter drive I did for the UGM back in March.

A special thank you goes out to WizCoder, Stephen Fung and a person who wish to remain anonymous for their generous donations. Wiz Coder donated everything he made as a full-time blogger since May. Thanks to all the following readers who made a donation.

Once again, a big thanks to everyone who made a donation to feed the hungry this Thanksgiving. I can’t express how proud I am of the John Chow dot Com community. If you haven’t made a donation but wish to do so, you may do it online at Union Gospel Mission website.

  3. That’s a good chunk of change right there.

  4. I donated more because I ate a lot of food

  5. I think even more people would have donated if you said you’re gonna post a list of them all, along with a link to their blog! :P

    Thanks, John Chow!

  6. Glad to see that someone will benefit from it. Congrats on the great idea and supporting others in need. Happy Thanksgiving (for those of us in Canada).

  10. Hey John, in the title is missing the “3″.

  11. hi John,
Just curious, why you choose not to promote Yahoo? It’s easy to understand why not Google, but from my viewpoints, Yahoo should be a good replacement for it, and there are more you can promote with it.

  12. converting CAD$25.90 that i donated to my dollars in my country it was a SGD$40 donation..hahaha! It can buy me 20 packets of chicken rice at $2 each…

  13. Thanks for the link and your matching up donation.

  14. Amen to that. Wait a while more. Some more good news is on its way to you. How long does your offer to match donations stand?

  15. Well done, John & Co!
It’s always nice to see people donating. I was expecting to see some Cows on your list too but they are probably to busy making money
I’ve blogged about your this, well done once again!

  16. Was a pleasure, I’ll try and donate on a regular basis, well I’ve got it as an outlook task so no excuses.

  17. The page title says ,700 instead of 3,700

  18. Congrat, John. You are such a good man!

I like the charity posts, John. THIS is actually one of my dreams except I’d make a homeless foundation in San Francisco instead of Vancouver.
