A Taste of Yaletown

Tonight, Sarah, Stephen Fung, Ed Lau, Leo Chiang and myself attended the opening gala for a Taste of Yaletown. The 4th Annual Taste of Yaletown runs from October 14 to 26 and features three-course menus at fixed prices of $25, $35 or $45. It’s very much like Dine Out Vancouver but all the participating restaurants are from the Yaletown area. There are 22 restaurants participating in this year’s Taste of Yaletown. You can make reservations by calling the restaurants or by booking with Open Table.

The opening gala party was held at Tequila Kitchen and featured dishes from some of the participating restaurants. Peller Estates was also there to show off some of their award winning wines from the Okanagan Valley. In the end, we had way too much to drink and eat.

A Taste of Yaletown is sponsored by American Express and if you charge your Taste of Yaletown meal to your Amex, they will donate 5% of the meal to the Canadian Association of Food Banks. I have a feeling I’m going to be eating out a lot between October 14 – 26.

:) One thing I learned about you john is that you looooooove food! yeah, the food looks reeeallly tasty! For crying out loud, the drinks look tasty. Whoa! Anyway The desserts look especially yummy! :)

It was great to see you at the Taste of Yaletown event John!
You captured some great photos and I noticed one of our hosts Barbara from VancouverBC.com in one of your photos!

Cheers.

Hi John

Great post about the Taste of Yaletown. Can't wait to try some of the new restaurants in Yaletown. Looking forward to dining at Tequila Kitchen.

Cheers
Dave

That peanut butter and chocolate desert really caught my eye and seeing everyone's reaction made me wish I was there. It looks like a great deal and good time for the money.

Considering it didn't cost us any money, it was a really good time! :P

Dude, the food looks really good.

I wish we have cool stuff to do like that where I live..

Ha, the last picture.

Looks like it was fun though. The food looks so good & I love margaritas!

I like the mini burgers in the 3rd last photo!

The food looks delicious. I am hungry already.

LOL, ME TOO!

I need to stop by next time when I am in that neck of the woods.

John,

The Dot Com Lifestyle, well somebody has to do it! I always enjoy high resolution photos of food on your blog, it makes me want to WALK-TO-CANADA, from California just to eat some of that food.

Perhaps I would lose the weight I would gain, by walking back home again?

Let me know if you want to start an annual DOT COM PHO in San Francisco? Just do not bring Michael Kwan, he might cause a ferry boat to crash into the Golden Gate Bridge, causing a rift in relations between Canada and the USA.

By the way, the USA can be purchased for $400 trillion Hong-Kong dollars I heard, any buyers out there in Vancouver? It comes with beaches, mountains, and some by product of dinosaurs under the ground..

Respectfully, Nicholas Chase- 'the video guy' from BlogWorld Expo 2008

Annual? You mean you want John to fly out there every year?

You need something with wheels. The Michael Kwan Crashing Service doesn't work on things that are wheel-less. How about crashing a trolley car?

That chocolate mouse on peanutbutter got all of you guys quiet... there was like a minute of silence and everyone was like " mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm"

John,

It looks like a good time. Maybe you should start marketing your reviews toward wine and food enthusiasts you seem to be becoming quite the connoisseur.

Adam

LOL

love the cake pic

best of the week!

How are you supposed to eat those sandwiches with the toothpicks in them? :)

Looks like a tasty evening. Margaritas anyone?

Iron Chef America is a wicked show. The Rob Feenie episode was a good one.

I dont think you're supposed to eat that butternut squash thing in one bite.

John, your passion for all things finer in food just astounds me. Just looking at your well illustrated food reviews just brings back my olden days in the kitchen.

As Ed Lau said, you only live once. Life is short, enjoy the sweet pleasures of exquisite gastronomy.

From a chef/internet markting rookie!

I think I just died and went to heaven. :)

That looks like some lovely food, John.

Great video too.

Jamie

i bet its fun as hell there

It's looks like fun there

I have never met someone who loves food as much as you do. And I havent even met you yet

Lookes very fun and the food looks Yummy!

Looks like a nice partay!

Looks like fun, and you have a good excuse to eat out a bunch during that week. Nice to see you're spreading your wealth along with your waistline =)

Matt

You only live once. Why deprive yourself of deliciousness? You don't make friends with salad.

Eating that chocolate mousse topped with caramel on top of a peanut crunch bar was like f'n Christmas in my mouth. Not the overly commercialized Christmas we know of today but like...real Christmas. If Jesus was here, this is what he would eat for dessert.

Bottom pic looks like youre trying to Lazer it into something else JC :)

Yeah, like he is using his mind powers!

I love the first paragraph. That should be in a book of quotes.
