I think its catchy, Aductions. Platform is easy to follow and overall it is functional. Good luck and thank you for your perspective.

I agree, I thought the same thing. When I think of auctions, I think eBay, and I bet a lot of other people do the same.

Nice pun, but it will probably throw a lot of users off.

Hi Simon,

Thanks for checking out the platform and I'm glad you like the interface. It is a work in progress and it will get even better in the near future.

I just want to weigh in on your comments about how the search function works. The platform indeed searches an index of tags on all the ad spaces just as Google searches an index of keywords on all websites.

<b>Clarification</b>

Whilst we allow publishers to tag their ad spaces, the platform does not rely on the manually specified tags alone. We have developed an algorithm that continuously generates contextual keywords from the publisher's website and stores them in the index. These automatically generated, contextual keywords are derived from the content on the pages on which the ad space is displayed.

It usually takes a few days or more after the ad space code has been installed before we can build up a meaningful set of auto-generated keywords. We've had a lot of new registrations lately so in a few days we should have an even larger index to search from.

It is also worth noting that auto-generated keywords dwarf the manual tags in number. For example, there are publishers who specified 10 tags on their ad spaces but we have been able to automatically generate over 3000 keywords from their content.

<b>Conclusion</b>

Whilst I'll love to go on about how the rest of the algorithm works, I hope that what I've written so far has shed some more light about how Aductions search engine works from a technical (albeit high level) standpoint.

Finally, thanks for raising this issue. It gives the technical guys an opportunity to contribute to this interesting thread.

Thanks again for checking out the platform.

Warm regards,
David Manning

I came here with quite hopes, and although I think it's a really nice interactive way to advertise, I was a little disappointed by the "search engine" side of it.

As far as I could tell from the FAQs, all the categorising and tagging is manual? There's nothing wrong with that, I just personally found it a little mis-leading to call it a search engine. It's a very nice search database filter system, but not really a search engine as most people would think of it.

I like the interactivity aspect of it, and the stats being there for everyone to view (can you opt to stop them being public?), so overall I like what I've seen so far.

Hi Richard,

You still have control over the minimum price at which your ad space is sold. By trading on Aductions, advertisers have a way to bid up the minimum price or make their own offers to you.

For example, if you regularly sell ad spaces at $50 a month, an advertiser may want to bid $48 for a 6 month campaign or $45 for a $12 month campaign. It is up to you to adjust your price in response to the deals that are offered.

Alternatively, an advertiser could bid $60 for a 2-week campaign around the busy holiday period. It's all based on demand and supply.

In both cases, you still don't lose control over your pricing. I hope I've addressed your concern.

Best regards,
Veronica

Now wouldn't this information transparency screw up your independent ad campaigns? If your customers could find they can advertise on your site cheaper through this program, wouldn't it make sense to do just that?

I will definitely test it out. No traffic is a bad traffic without testing it out first.
