Advanced Email Marketing for Bloggers – Working with Filters & Suppression Lists

This is part six of my series on advanced email marketing for bloggers. In case you missed the past articles or need a refresher course. Here are the links to the past posts:

I actually posted about the suppression list and the include/exclude filter back in July as an independent post but since it’s relavent to these advanced email marketing lessons, I’ve decided to include it in the series.

In the video below, I explain two features of Aweber that many bloggers overlook or don’t know about. These features really come in handy when you’re dealing with people who’s subscribed to multiple lists or when your trying to prevent certain people from getting your email.

I made this video while my car was being serviced at North Shore Acura. Isn’t technology awesome?

  1. To bad I don’t have a credit card.My dad does but I have to ask.Aweber you always talk about and I really really want it.I’ve always wanted to use a company that uses e-mail lists easily.Maybe for $1 thanks to John I can probably get my dad into saying YES!

Thanks for marking the first month for only $1.00,

I highly recommend it, AWeber is awesome. Combine the power of the platform with John’s tips and the upside is truly there. It’s never too early to start building your email list!

      1. Hey PPC Ian,

I agree with you wholeheartedly. AWeber used the way John teaches is an incredibly valuable tool. I see that Bradley has a new picture.

        1. PPC Ian says:

That’s for sure! 🙂 It’s funny: I don’t do half the things John mentions and I’m still getting incredible value out of AWeber. Now, if I just implement these “advanced” tips, I’m going to take my AWeber results to the next level! All high priority stuff on my to-do list…

    2. Abhik says:

      Bradley.. How old are you?
Don’t mind me asking that. I am just curious.

      1. Design Flyer says:

Now I am also interested.. it will be surprising I guess..

        1. Guess Than.I will tell you after the guess.

          1. I think that you are 11 or 12 Bradley.

    3. I wonder how much of this stuff GetResponse can do?

      1. I have never used the paid version from GetResponse, just their free trial and they didn’t seem to have half of the features that Aweber has – but maybe I didn’t know what to look for lol

  2. Aweber continue to have feature that other software don’ good that you pointed this out..

Me too enjoying the series and learning a lot from it.

      1. Hey John,

This is one of the best series from you in a long time. It’s priceless.

  4. Fazal Mayar says:

great stuff, Aweber is so easy to use, i love it!

  5. Abhik says:

    Another post on Aweber series.

    1. It’s more about Email Marketing and it’s importance first and AWeber as a tool and how to use it to the full second I’d say.

      1. Abhik says:

Well, this indeed is an EM series. Since the tool in use is Aweber, this also makes it a Aweber series..

        Nevermind, forget it.

  6. Made the video while you were at a car service shop. Awesome man. BTW I have followed this series of articles and I am really happy to say that I have signed up for Aweber now and I am ready to create my email list. Thank you John

    1. Abhik says:

Sathish.. Don’t be amazed. He already blogged from a car, on a running train and from 32K feet above sea level..
There may be other odd placed, but I know only these three.

      1. PPC Ian says:

Yeah, John truly lives the dot com lifestyle. He’s blogged from just about everywhere. 🙂 Really cool stuff!

  7. elcosario says:

hi john, aweber is the best method to rentabilize your blog, i like aweber.

    1. rentabilize…what?

      Don’t you mean monetize?

  8. Design Flyer says:

No doubt aweber is the best option… everybody should give it a try

    1. Fazal Mayar says:

it definitely is. I think its superior to icontact or mailchimp by far.

  9. Cleanse Diet says:

For those of us that are considering the value in purchasing an Aweber subscription, being able to see firsthand the advantages of having it is a good thing. Most new users can look at your videos to see how an advanced user takes advantage of all of its features. By the way John, what kind of video camera do you use to make your videos?

    1. John Chow says:

That video was made with a Canon HF S100 camcorder.

  10. Tilen says:

Thanks for the tips John. Really informative and much needed 🙂 I starting to pay more attention to e-mail marketing now and I already see my traffic and income increasing.

  11. Thanks John wonderful tips. i will try.

  12. Lakhyajyoti says:

Awebar has some cool features.Everyone should give a try.

  13. Kate Kutny says:

This is great info. John, thanks. I really need to start building a list.

    1. Build a list, yea, I’ve been saying that for too long. Got to get to it.

  14. fas says:

Well aweber is a very untapped market.

    1. AWeber is a market and untapped at that? I thought it was a service. Still do.

      1. PPC Ian says:

I’m confused too. How is AWeber an untapped market?

        1. Fazal Mayar says:

he probably meant that with the raise of volume of online businesses, aweber is still just a work in progress 🙂

  15. I never thought of Aweber as being untapped. I guess if it were you could build a mini niche site reviewing all of the auto responder services. By the way, I really need to get around to building my own email lists. Shame on me for not doing it already.

  16. The next trick will be building a “buying” list, eh John? Some people get too caught up with the numbers on their lists, but if the subscribers aren’t buying then there is still no money to be made
    My 2 cents, lol

  17. I am LOVING this series. In the past, I have haphazardly built email lists but never truly harvested the potential of those lists. I have just recently started taking the power of list building seriously. Great video on using list filters and segmenting features on Aweber. Thanks!

  18. Another useful and great post … I would love to save this series … and will keep reading a all at once.

  21. singer divya says:

  22. anitha says:

If we using an full kit tool only will be getting the entire accessing process else we can’t in free version
