Am I The Most Controversial Blog of 2007?
It looks like Performancing hasn’t left me out of their 2007 Reader’s Choice Awards. I’ve been nominated for The Most Controversial Blog Award. I’m not sure whether to take that as a compliment or an insult.
Controversy breeds contempt…and popularity. We’ve chosen six blogs that have become known for controversy as finalists for this award. The blog with the most number of votes by January 10, 2007 wins the 2007 Reader’s Choice award. A Judges’ Choice award will also be awarded at the same time.
I didn’t even know I was nominated until just now. Other than saying I’m the most controversial blog of 2007, do I get anything else if I win? Anyway, please head over to Performancing and vote for me as the most controversial blog.

Reply to this commentI think it’s a pretty clear win for you John! Anyway, you got my vote. You are indeed the root of all evil! Haha.
Reply to this commentTechnically a nomination….although he has a high chance of winning
Reply to this commentyou should post a gigantic pic of an evil guy if you win. You are quite evil after all
Reply to this commentCongratulation on you John.
Reply to this commentCongrats John
Reply to this commentYou Got something unexpected again
Which, is what usually happens to John
Guess they, just want his free promotion
Reply to this commentRemember John, you said it yourself, there is no such thing as bad press!
Well done,
Reply to this commentThere is but I do not believe it applies to Johnchow
Reply to this commentNope I dont think it does, lucky person.
Reply to this commentWhy do you say there is? Press is press. It’s all about name recognition and attention.
Reply to this commentI agree: there will always be people who share your views and others who do not. Being in the spotlight is the name of the game since running a resource everyone likes is next to impossible.

Reply to this commentControversy is good for business! All comes to the point if you earn enough.
Reply to this commentHi John
It’s no surprise that you are way in the lead. First of all the other nominees have far less interesting topics to write about, and also the very fact that you can easily catch between 70 and 250 comments makes it one of the world’s most commented blogs.
To stir comments you have to be controversial. It ain’t only a negative word, so take courage. You are leading so it would be a big surprise if anyone could overtake you.
Carpe diem.
Reply to this commentI agree with You, Henrik Blunck…
Sometimes, as in this case, it’s not a negative word.
Debate, discussion or controversy (you choose how to call it) is, probably, the best (as well as the most democratic) starting line if you want to develop a given argument.
Moreover, a subject like ‘making money’ must generate comments, since it’s plausible it might have a lot of implications about ethics (and so on).
So, finger crossed.. John
Reply to this commentHow can most controversial be an insult to “The Root of all Evil”?
Reply to this commentIt is a Compliment.
I’d definitely agree that controversy is a part of his business model as well as a part of the brand he’s created around himself since, let’s face it, even when people criticize, they are still talking about you

I’m going to be controversial and not vote

Reply to this commentKenneth
Thanks for having this blog, it’s helped me grow mine in just a few months. I’m in the process of re-organizing and re-structuring and hope to have ad’s on there soon. I’ve already been approved for blogads and kontera…thanks to your suggestions! Check me out at http://www.wannasmile.com
Reply to this commentSomeone please help me conclude how a make-money blog can be controversial. Hardly. The “controversy” is you actually did it? Like you weren’t supposed to succeed? I think they need new guidlines
Justin Dupre
Reply to this commentWell, controversy can also be created around the methods you use in order to make money or your overall approach to making money online.

Reply to this commentYes, I believe JohnChow.com is the most controversial blog!
Reply to this commentDepends who he is up against
Reply to this commentI agree with you, Henrik Blunck…
The word ‘controversial’, as in this case, is not negative at all.
Debates, discussions or controversies (you choose how you want to call them) are, probably, the best (as well as the most democratic) starting lines, if you want to develop a given argument.

Reply to this commentCongrats John

Reply to this commentI agree. He’s just a genius at internet marketing and branding
Reply to this commentThere are definitely others far more controversial than John out there but I personally think that he didn’t mind being nominated for this category.
Alan Johnson
Reply to this commentControversial? No
Reply to this commentI like to read your blog John but you surely are not most controversial blogger neither you have controversial blog hehe.
Reply to this commentHey John,
Hehe, great stuff man. Now you asked what you’ll get if you win the award?! What will we get who voted for you
?
Hrvoje
Reply to this commentFirst, I don’t anything controversial on making big amounts of money online.
Reply to this commentSecond, I don’t see anything controversial on getting banned from digg, technorati and google all together.
John,
Reply to this commentYou have our vote!
Thanks,
Debby
I think you deserve that title since you a genuine persone unlike all the other bloggers out there not everyone just some people. You usually use your approach on something instead of always going by the books I visit your blog like 4 times a day because I really want to get a response from you and I hope you might visit my blog and give me some good feedback
Reply to this commentU r different that’s why they give U different award…anywhere U already create the different wave …congrats
Reply to this commentI hope you win for 2007. Europe wishes well to John Chow.
I hope to compete with you on the same category for 2008. I have create . Yes, a list of food and a picture of the result. Plus Philosophy.
Surely the title of Controversy will belong with me?
Salut,
Mr Poo
Reply to this commentI would say no.
Reply to this commentJust the most hated, for making so much dang money…
I agree
I think everyone is just jealous that you are making so much money by this blog
Reply to this commentI don’t think you are so controversial
Reply to this commentAfter I voted, I saw that you got 95% of the votes so far, nice. I think thats what may make you the most controversial, is that your not, but you won like you are!!! It has to be rigged
Reply to this commentI haven’t looked at that list yet but it doesn’t surprise me. Think about how many detractors you have (myself included at times). When you consider your Google penalty, your Technorati ban, and your pimping of Agloco, I think the nomination is merited.
Reply to this commentJohn, you haven’t had to get controversial since the google whores post, talk about a surprise nomination.
I’m just as surprised that Shoemoney wasn’t on the list, I thought his detailing how to abuse facebook to its limits would have him on the list too.
Reply to this commentHah! You’re kicking Perez Hiltons arse for now. Go John!
Reply to this commentI’d suggest Pereze Hilton doesn’t know of the contest and probably won’t blog about it either. I don’t think the term controversial is a good one to describe this blog.
Reply to this commentWell, you’re not all that controversial in my mind…but I’ll vote for you anyways.
Reply to this commentYou probably got nominated because they don’t really read your site. In any case, this will only give you more explosure so why not
Reply to this commentExplosure! I love the new word David - brand that sucker for bloggers everywhere.
Explosure : a term used when bloggers gain explosive readership through recent exposure.
Reply to this commentYou are so evil
, take something that you don’t want just to gain some traffic.
Reply to this commentI think people who hate you probably nominated you for this. But who cares? There always will be haters who get jealous of your talent.
Reply to this commentI wouldn’t say you’re all that controversial, but I voted for you anyway and it looks like you are way in the lead. Is there a prize giveaway if you win this contest?
Reply to this commentI don’t know if you are controversial, but you are leading Shoe in rss subscribers by more than 1,000 now, way to go!
Reply to this commentVoted for you and looking at the results, it looks like you are winning by a mile.
Reply to this commentCongratulations john!
Reply to this commentI voted for you John. Hope You will be the winner. I personally don’t see any controversy in you blog though

Reply to this commentAre you sure it’s not for John Cow?
Anyways, good luck w/ this…
Reply to this commentMaybe the controversial element stems from the fact (or alleged) of the underhand ways you have manipulated traffic in the past.
Reply to this commentI can not believe they put you in the company of some of those blogs ( and I use that term loosely) of such online folks as Perez Hilton, and 1938media. But if you really want to win, I can go vote for you,

Reply to this commentVoted ….
Reply to this commentHope you win
If you was the most controversial blog of 2007, then you’d have more haters then lovers
Reply to this commentI’d take it as a compliment. Your blog has brought up quite a few innovations. It’s no wonder people are talking about your blog the most.
Reply to this commentControversial? Don’t know about that there buddy…
Innovative, helpful, inspirational maybe… but, c’mon…
Reply to this commentNo, but you talk about yourself more than anyone else. Small dick?
Reply to this commentNo John, you’re not the most controversial blogger. Check out my post on this at Slam Blogger
Reply to this commentI sent you an email about this, but I haven’t had any luck getting any response in the past via email. (I know, you stay busy) Hope you enjoy.
