Another Minority Government

Oh great. Just what Canada needs; another minority government. I guess we like nothing better than doing an election every 18 months. Conservative Leader Stephen Harper will become Canada’s next prime minister, as Canadians have elected a Tory minority government and ended a 12-year reign of Liberal rule. That is the only good news.

I’m happy that Paul Martin is no longer the Prime Minister. I’m disappointed that the Conservatives didn’t get enough support to form a majority. Now we can look forward to more uncertainty for Canada as the new government tries to work with the other parties to solve the country’s problem. I don’t see how this is possible, giving the differences in mindset of each party. Like the last minority, I expect Stephen Harper’s Tories to last about as long as Paul Martin’s Grits.

Don’t trash the ballot boxes and signs yet. I have a feeling we’ll be doing this again real soon.
