Biggest Dot Com Pho To Date

written by John Chow on April 19, 2008

How to make $593 in less than one hour

Normally, the weekly Dot Com Pho is attended by six to ten people. However, BlueFur decided to bring their entire furry team to bring the attendance up a record 16 people. If we get any bigger, we’ll need to book out the entire restaurant.

For this edition of Dot Com Pho, we find out the correct way to say “Pho” by the owner of Pho Lan, our official Dot Com Pho restaurant. We also find out who spooned who at the Telus World Ski & Snowboard Festival at Whistler. In addition, we’re introducing two new features for the Dot Com Pho video; the Gadget of the Week and our Dot Com Pho sponsors. Enjoy!

Want to be part of Dot Com Pho?

Anyone is welcome to join us for Dot Com Pho. We meet every Saturday at Pho Lan in Richmond (unless we decide to do Dot Com Something Else) at 12:30 in the afternoon. If you wish to attend, then please send one of the Pho goers a note/email so we can save a seat for you.

That was not only the largest, but the wackiest DotComPho we have had. I still don’t think we determined who spooned who in Whistler though.

Googlelady April 19, 2008 at 9:10 pm

Happy to see that DotComPho is getting bigger, who knows it will be another conference like the one in San Francisco

Flimjo April 21, 2008 at 10:04 am

There’s not way it can stay this small with the continual attention it gets on this blog.

Ed Lau April 20, 2008 at 2:30 am

Just to be clear, I was no involved in any of the man-spooning.

Leo April 20, 2008 at 6:16 am

Whatever Ed, you were the caboose!

MR. NICE GUY April 21, 2008 at 7:00 am

So Dot Com Pho is really an amazing group and composed of jolly and wack people.

Stephen April 19, 2008 at 6:31 pm

Yeah, that had to be one of the biggest Dot Com Pho’s ever. I was surprised that Lan didn’t kill someone

Zedomax April 20, 2008 at 9:25 am

Lol…that was the funniest John Chow video ever. Great job guys. I will sponsor some SiteHoppin Beer Stock for your next Dot Com Pho.

Michael Kwan April 20, 2008 at 11:28 pm

I don’t know how I ended up being the first one there, but the look on Lan’s face when I told him it would be “about 15″ was priceless. And haunting.

Stephen April 20, 2008 at 11:49 pm

Looks like an angry frown doesn’t it? That’s why I try to be late

Simon April 19, 2008 at 6:55 pm

That’s a nifty little tripod, i just picked up the gorolliapod and I’m looking forward to testing it out.

Verbal April 19, 2008 at 7:43 pm

I have one of the logitech mice (actually I have two) it is great. the moto tri-pod looks great but, sounds kind of pricey.

Stephen April 19, 2008 at 7:54 pm

It’s Italian! Of course it’s expensive! Mama mia! :D

However, you could probably find it for around $25 – 30 bucks on the street.

Simon April 20, 2008 at 5:45 am

Look for a knock-off with some toxic steel and it’ll be 10 bucks :)

Stephen April 20, 2008 at 6:37 pm

Cancer and reproductive problems are standard

Verbal April 19, 2008 at 7:56 pm

Can’t find the Moto Pod on manfrotto site!

Stephen April 19, 2008 at 8:37 pm
Paolo U April 19, 2008 at 8:01 pm

that is the biggest dot com pro ever!

Dave from Welcome Back Rosenthal April 19, 2008 at 9:30 pm

Well its not quite a a Sopranos style “meet” but it IS turning into something. And it’s organic. Lot of respect for that. Just you guys meeting, then add a camera, then add a sponser, then add a gadget of the week, invite others….

It’s a great natural progression. I like where it’s headed.

Fitness Site April 19, 2008 at 9:54 pm

what is pho ?

John Chow April 19, 2008 at 9:57 pm

Phở is served as a bowl of white rice noodles in clear beef broth, with thin cuts of beef (steak, fatty flank, lean flank, brisket). Variations featuring tendon, tripe, meatballs, chicken leg, chicken breast, or other chicken organs (heart, liver, etc.) are also available.

Fitness Site April 20, 2008 at 9:08 pm

lol, thanks.
I thought it refers to some person.

Shanker Bakshi April 21, 2008 at 2:23 am

Thats so scary for a person like me who never eat an egg 100% vegitarian

Ed Lau April 21, 2008 at 4:33 am

Sucks to be you, then. Vegetarians miss out on all the best stuff.

Chris Jacobson April 19, 2008 at 10:23 pm

Did everyone really get a monitor?

John Chow April 19, 2008 at 11:14 pm

What’s 16 LCD monitors to a company the size of Samsung Electronics?

Paolo U April 19, 2008 at 11:51 pm

Free monitor for everybody. I sure envy you.

Ed Lau April 20, 2008 at 12:04 am

I don’t know what I’m going to do with this…I already have two 24″ LCDs on my desktop.

Maybe I’ll put it in the kitchen or something. It’ll probably end up in the closet.

Leo April 20, 2008 at 6:17 am

I stole Stephen’s, so I have two now ;)

Mike Huang April 19, 2008 at 11:14 pm

Seems like Leo got the “Bun Thit Nuong Ca Gio” for the Dot Com Pho ;) . I love eating that dish, but he’s missing the shrimp pieces.

Chetan April 19, 2008 at 11:24 pm

I am a vegetarian.. So i cant be included in?

Michael Kwan April 20, 2008 at 11:22 pm

I don’t think they have any vegetarian dishes. Even the plain noodles come in a beef stock.

Pyjammez April 20, 2008 at 1:05 am

I want to goto dot com pho :( When I’m rich I will :) Just gotta finish some of these websites I’ve started god damnit. Seems like I enjoy creating the site more than finishing it.

Michael Kwan April 20, 2008 at 11:23 pm

When you’re rich? A bowl of noodles is like seven bucks…

Stephen April 20, 2008 at 11:50 pm

Around $5.50 if you go for the small one.

Ed Lau April 21, 2008 at 4:35 am

It’s only okay to order a small if you’re a girl…or if you ordered a large as well.

Terry Tay April 20, 2008 at 1:23 am

I bet http://www.SallyChow.com is ranking better than my site right now

I guess what happens in Whistler, SF, Vegas, etc. doesn’t stay in Whistler, SF, Vegas, etc., it stays on John CHow’s blog for all to see and hear about

Internet Business Blogger April 20, 2008 at 12:35 pm

I grew up in Richmond and moved to Calgary a few years ago. I have got to get back and check out the dot com pho one of these Saturdays now that I know the location and time

Jeff Kee April 20, 2008 at 10:04 pm

haha not many people know the proper pronunciation! I knew it though.

Michael Kwan April 20, 2008 at 11:26 pm

For the longest time, John was convinced that it was pronounced “fur”. We tried to tell him that it’s more like “fuh” and, well, he’d have no part of it.

Ronald Su April 20, 2008 at 11:44 pm

Is it true everyone gets a Samsung LCD??
It it is i would be there next Sat!

Stephen April 20, 2008 at 11:52 pm

One time only!

Ed Lau April 21, 2008 at 4:36 am

Next week will be something different.

I still don’t know what to do with mine. Maybe I’ll make it a wall clock or something. I have more monitors than I know what to do with.

www.InspiredMoneyMaker.com April 21, 2008 at 12:23 am

Is this an invite only event or can anyone come?

I’ve never had Pho. I thought Pho was some really rich dude with a lot of restaurants in Vancouver. I think I remember one on Kingsway that’s called “Pho Bich Nga” or something. Sounds really funny.

Ed Lau April 21, 2008 at 4:33 pm

Anyone can come to Dot Com Pho. Just let one of us know ahead of time so we can get the appropriate number of seats.

Paul Piotrowski April 21, 2008 at 11:12 pm

Is it at the same place / time every time, or is it a different location / place announced each time?

Ed Lau April 22, 2008 at 12:25 am

Pho Lan, Saturday @ 12:30pm unless we decide to do something different…which doesn’t happen often. Sometimes we do Dot Com Dim Sum or Dot Com Tandori or Dot Com Burgers or whatever.

Syed Balkhi April 21, 2008 at 8:28 am

I will have to contact you if I ever come to Canada maybe you can hold some on that time ..
