Blog World Expo - Dinner with Kontera
written by John Chow

Mike Glover from Kontera Technologies was kind enough to invite us to dinner at one of Las Vegas most famous and most expensive restaurant. Located in The Forum Shops at Caesars, Spago is synonymous with fine food and celebrity clientele. Spago is a place to see and be seen. The indoor patio is great for people watching. Inside, the restaurant offers a dramatic, yet warm interior that is very much in keeping with the California-style cuisine of Chef Wolfgang Puck.
Spago features seasonal American cuisine with influences from locales spanning the globe. Executive Chef Eric Klein creates a daily-changing menu featuring a variety of fresh, innovative dishes including specialty dishes such as the Roasted Beet and Goat Cheese Napoleon, Handmade Sweet Corn Agnolotti and USDA Prime Nebraska Corn Fed Côte de Boeuf.
Oyster and Crab Claws

This was a great opening. Both the oyster and crab were super fresh.
Pasta with White Truffle and Truffle Oil

This dish taste as expensive as it look. That may explain why Executive Chef Eric Klein came out to shave the truffles onto the dish himself.

Pan Seared Sea Scallops

This was Sarah’s main course. It was served with sweet Maine shrimp risotto, tomato confit and shellfish broth 35. It was not the best scallops I’ve ever tried but it was very close.
Australian Waygu Beef, New York Cut

Australian Waygu is the almost the same as Japanese Kobe beef. The 5 oz New York cut of beef was served with confit fingerlings, creamed spinach and a Bordelaise sauce. This was one of the most tender steaks I’ve ever tried. It was also one of the most expensive. At $74, it cost more than the 22 oz USDA Prime Nebraska Corn Fed Côte de Boeuf.
The Desserts

Spago Creme Brulee and 17 layer mocha cake. The cake really had 18 layers. Yes, I counted it. Both desserts were very good and finished off the meal with a bang.
I want to thank Kontera for taking us out to dinner. They are great ad network for me and I higher recommend you join them. We look forward to meeting Kontera again in San Fransisco.

awesome meal and thats so nice of kontera! but i wonder how much money john has made them over all to deserve such an extravagant meal!
Oh i think the dinner was paid from what John made them earn and also the tip for the waiter or waitress was included
But in any case that is very kind from the owner of Kontera to socialize up to some level with the publishers of kontera
I have responded to SEO Optomization and he is quite happy with the results from kontera.
Sorry, it’s OOT.
Just wonder if anybody knows why the Feedburner readers’ number is always low on Friday night? Right now, John’s number is only 9102 and Shoe’s number is only 6068. Yeah, I noticed that those numbers will return after the weekend. But why?
Yes - I noticed this earlier on Shoemoney’s page… It is quite likely that feedburner counts hits in the last 24 hours, and since it’s Friday - they drop down, and come back up on Monday. Now, having said that, I would expect that to drop on Saturday, not Friday?
I think it’s Google’s messup again… Google is not even showing up on my blackberry sometimes…
Yup it’s google that messed up. There is no google fetcher stats again.
Spago is amazing. I didn’t make it there this time around, but I remember it being the highlight of my meals last year in Vegas.
John! You are so lucky, attending the blogworld expo is one of the reasons but more importantly getting to dine with Kontera and all the other leaders in the blogosphere!

I always envy your good food moments, John….
Well you should see the food we’ve been dining out on at Angel World Expo. I know which expo I’d rather be at!
I am really hungry now!
Steak looks fantastic, not surprising it reminds you of Kobe seeing as the Wagyu beef bred was introduced into Australian about 20 years ago from Japan. Makes me want to go out and drop the $100 plus on a Kobe steak tonight!
that looks delicious! yum yum
Hey John what with the Shoemoney tshirt? Did i miss anything? Was that a part of that RSS comp betw. you two guys? Else how much would he need to pay for THAT??
Oh i think it’s really just friendly competition to drive traffic to both sites. “Evil masterplan” by Shoe and John…
Sans Fransisco ? I like that better than San Francisco…
Free meals are always very nice
It’s good to be a sponsor, especially when it seems like John just gets $1000 for having a very low density
What’s that between the creamed spinach and fingerlings?
Bone marrow. It was very tasty.
Mmm. I’ve never eaten bone marrow. I’m sure my wife has - she’s from the Phillipines and seems to have eaten all kinds of funny things.
Looks like a fantastic meal though!
