Blog World Expo – Stealing Cash Money

written by John Chow on September 24th, 2008

You figured I’ve stolen enough from Market Leverage already. When I visited their office in Orlando, I stole a bunch of “I’m Blogging This” T-shirts and gave them away to readers at Blog World Expo. Well, on the final day of Blog World, I swung by the Market Leverage booth to thank them for the previous night’s Super Panel dinner and saw a great opportunity to grab some more cash.

The ML reps were busy talking to some attendees. The Cashinator was closed because it was the end of the day. However, I noticed there was still cash in it. Since the Market Leverage people were being distracted by other people, I figure I would clean out the Cashinator.

  1. Ad revenue must be down, your hitting new lows John!

  2. Internet Cowboy

A few more stunts like this and ML will go bankrupt.

  3. John Chow you are truly EVIL!!! HAHA that’s pretty funny video though. How much money did you end up STEALING this time? Why don’t you send me one of those “I’m Blogging This” T-shirts…it would be awesome. Or do you have any idea were I could get me a few to give away as well.

    Thanks!

  4. How about giving the cash away to your readers? (cough. me.)

  5. That was some easy cash, haha…

  6. LMAO, the girl behind you in the video noticed……that was funny.

So John, did you gys buy a house while you were there? Also, did you go see your car?

  7. I have to meet you John, you are so good in stealing money from others…

    Damn You….

  8. Ohhh nooo :o ) Not sure that google bump down has done you good John ;o)

Well either way check out the girl on the stand… nice. Damn the UK and it’s lack of Blog Expo’s :P

  9. Very Evil, if slightly staged ;)

@Ollie : Maybe we should start a blog expo over here in the UK?

  10. Careful man haven’t you seen CSI they are going to catch you.

  11. haha good stuff, are ad sales down recently john? ;)

  12. John,

We want our money back! We know where you live! ;)

    ~Debby

  13. Another theft video. I love these. Keep up them up, I’m sure they are doing good for viral marketing and getting yours and well as Market Leverages name out there.

  14. Bad influence!

    Teach me everything you know.

  15. Hi John,
Your RSS comes to me by email. But the script that runs with the email bombs in Outlook. It shows up as a script error dialog box that has to be clicked over and over again.

  16. Haha, that has got to be staged.. Pretty funny though. You’re really going for that evil reputation huh. :P

  17. Andrew

Is it just me or does anyone else not find these ‘theft videos’ remotely funny?

You would have thought a grown man with children, earning relatively huge amounts of money would know better than to make a fool out of himself continuously in videos for a cheap laugh for what amounts to actual crime.

It’s as bad as happy-slapping (look it up if you don’t know what it is).

And if it’s faked, well, that’s even more pathetic, as it shows not only are you going for the cheap laugh, but you don’t even have the balls to do it properly. Not that anyone respects you any more either way. If anything, they lose a bit of respect for each video posted.

Oh, and now I’ve seen Tyler’s blog, I understand the full details of the little competition that you had.

So that point was that on TOP of the money you got from the Cashinator, you had to give money from your own pocket.

It seems a little cheap that you’d simply go back into the Cashinator, no? If it was a competition that wasn’t originally to do with the Cashinator, it’d be a little funny, that I admit (hey, that’s not theft and it’s innovative), but when you agree to out-of-pocket, going back just seems as if you don’t think twice about backing out of agreements.

Seems like something a Scrooge character would do, that’s all.

Honestly, you’ve given lots of great advice on this blog, but these videos you’ve made recently where you act up to the camera, doing stupid stuff, and changing deals just because you can? They aren’t a John people will end up loving. You’ll get your cheap laugh, but people will soon start to think you are Scrooge-like, desperate to get your face seen for doing stupid things and a little pathetic because of both combined.

I don’t have a problem with you, just the you in the videos, as I’d hope to get where you have, you are a better person than that.

  18. I think Jen noticed he cleared it out… you didn’t really get away with it, John! lol

  19. That was evil, but funny in a way. Poor guys, all their money gone in a brief moment.

  20. Thats awesome John! ML must be wondering why they are missing over $50 in ones out of their cashinator.

  21. dev

first time come, many good article

  22. hey John, Would you like include that in your monthly income report.

  23. I love how you just stuffed the money in your bag like it was nothing.

  24. Maybe you should get your own currency started….haha. John Chow on a 7 dollar bill. That would be cool. Then the MMO and SEO blogging crowd could use that as currency to trade services. Is that legal? A private currency for private use? HHmmmm

What would a JC %7.00 be worth………… great videos……as always, very entertaining.

  25. John, I think on the way out the building the security guard stop you….hahaha…you qualify to be movie start not just blog star.

  26. Well, that was nice they let you steal a bunch of t-shirts! Geesh, it use to be a time rocks stars got all the shine, but now it is all about the bloggers! I am new to your blog by the way. I have heard a lot about you from other bloggers alike. Maybe one day I will attend one of these Expo’s.

  27. You would think that bad acting would only come once…and that’s in the first video where Mr. Chow tried to “steal” the shirts. lol.

    -Mike

  28. That was crazy funny…How you just stuffed them in and pretended like nothing happened. I think Jen noticed you at the end though cause she smiled right into the camera.

  29. At the end of the video, the girl just looked at the storage and smiled at the camera.. :D

  30. Your expression at the end is LOLARIOUS, John!
