John,

You are being biased and just looks at one perspective. Why don't you conduct a survey asking Bloggers whether they would rather spend night blogging or going to the gym 4 times a week? You perspective might change.

From their politically left leaning bias, to Jason Blair's fake reporting scandal, as well as taking John McCain to task about an illicit affair with a Lobbyist that was never vetted or factually proven, I wonder who is still reading the NYT!

The Gray Lady has fell from grace more then a few times, and I would hate to see it fall, because it is a great NY institution.

News paper and television reporting should be a medium that suffers no malice, or malicious point of view. Long gone are the days of Walter Cronkite, who, reporting the news of the day, with brevity, and as accurate as possible.

To this day I could not tell you what side of the political fence he leans toward..

More and more, newspapers and mainstream TV outlets have become split down idealogical and political lines, with reporting reduced to sound bites, and article writing that resemble editorials
and not the straight reporting of facts.

As you have found with the "death by blogging" expose, in addition to the "Ipod lightning strike" the truth is found, at least at times, in the details of the story..

Most tabloid newspapers like the New York Post, feature
some of the best attention grabbing headlines in the business..

The New York Times has a good handle on drawing attention to their news items as well, but the difference between the two is that in most cases, the Post stories will fit what the featured headline..

NYT tends to drag out the story, and you will not find context or specificity until the last page, or paragraph of a particular featured item.

Employing misleading headlines, enticing you to read the through the whole article has pretty much been the standard for a number of years.

But, doesn't some marketing and copywriting, at times, fall into the misleading and bias category as well? It is not a surprise that newspapers have been taking a "page" out of the marketing hype playbook.
