Blogging From Anywhere In The World

written by John Chow on November 27th, 2008

Where Do You Want To Blog?

Without a doubt, one of the biggest advantage to making money by blogging is the fact that you can do it anywhere. Most of the time, I blog from the home office but if I wanted a change of scenery, I just pack up my MacBook and head to the coffee shop, the mall, or even the other side of the world. As long as I have access to the Internet, I can log online and make money.

Very few businesses offer this kind of location freedom. And, it gets easier with every new technology advancement. Thanks to the new 3G iPhone, I don’t even need to find a wireless hotspot anymore. I could be blogging out in the middle of a park while enjoying the sun.

Living The Dot Com Lifestyle

The Dot Com Lifestyle is about time freedom and money freedom. However, it’s also about location freedom because you can’t be truly free if you’re not allowed to move around the world without worry about where the next paycheck is coming from.

This blog post (plus the previous one) and video was created at the Aberdeen Centre Mall. The video was filmed on the Flip Mino and the editing was done on the MacBook Air. Both items are light enough that I can take them anywhere. It really is amazing to think that only a few years ago, all this wasn’t possible.

I agree!! I’ve found my Iphone immensely useful in running my online business ventures, and I find myself occasionally looking at it and thinking, “wow, who woulda thought I would be doing this 5 years ago!” It’s really a tiny computer in the palm of your hand!!

This is completely true. I did some blogging from thailand when I was on my honeymoon. All you need is a laptop and access to the internet and you can work anywhere in the world.

Another business you can do this is Internet Marketing where you don’t even have to do any work. You set up your sites and then just leave them to make you money.

You blogged on your honeymoon? My wife wouldn’t be too happy if I had done that.

Yeah, I think honeymoons should be off limits, but regular vacations are okay.

I wouldn’t mind if a husband would be blogging on our honeymoon, as long as he will do it while I’m asleep and I hope he will not mind too if I do my frequent sms sending from time to time. Working online is really cool. I wish I can be on it full time.

I soon hope my sites can let me have that freedom. I am stuck working at a computer lab and barely making change from the internet.

Being able to work anywhere (and at any time) is one of the main reasons (if not the main reason) why I’m trying to make a living online. I already live in Thailand so I’ve managed to achieve the ‘work somewhere exotic’ goal, all I need to do know is escape the shackles of my day job so I can move from Bangkok to somewhere more relaxing and enjoy the Dot Com Lifestyle a little more. Oh and 2 thumbs up for the iPhone too.

10 years ago I hooked up my laptop to one of those airplane phones. Dialed in and sent in emails, the person next to me thought that was the coolest thing. Imagine now people wouldn’t probably get upset at someone using a whole laptop to send emails. Send via cell.

Funny thing about the tax deductible lunch, I just wrote a post this week about all the really successful people I know are very tax savvy.

John,

I would like to blog from anywhere. We need solar chargers for our laptops so we can hang out in the park and blog, blog, blog. The Dot Com Park Pho Lifestyle!

My laptop has a new battery, but only lasts 2.5 hours and then quits. It would be nice to just quit work early and go home, but I have too much to do.

So I stay home, near the electrical grid and blog, blog, blog from my home office.

Preparing a massive donation launch next week. Unique Blog Designs ( Nate is the man! ) have been requested to help with page design and donation button coding.

Beneficiaries? KIDS! More to come…

Respectfully,

I blog from my windows PC laptop….
We are not top bloggers like you, who has to update their blog frequently to keep the revenue coming OR if they don’t blog, they will loose the reputation and $$$..

so where-ever I go, I don’t take my laptop OR blog from my iPhone. :D

Also, why you use vimeo ? youtube has recently gone to widescreen and high quality vids too.. you can try that out too… what editor for video editing ??

I think that is what makes money making blogging appealing . Obviously, the barriers to entry are extremely low but to be able to blog from anywhere at anytime that is very motivating.

My fav is blogging / making money online from cruise ships between belly flop contests. The last cruise we took, the 1 hr a day I spent “working” paid for the entire trip.

How do you convince your children to hit university when they see me fooling around on the computer and making $$?

It’s all about being able to work in your PJ’s. I think the longest I went without changing clothes was at least 5 days. Stinky for sure but comfortable, comfortable, comfortable.

Hi John!

Well what do you know… Internet marketing and blogging is the best business you will ever find. You have total freedom to decide when and if you want to work, how much money you want to make, and where you want to work. This is the most sexiest business you’ll ever find in the entire world. Once you’ve figured out how to make money, the rest is easy. Basically you can set your business on autopilot, just like a cruise missile you fire once and forget.

Great post, cheers!

I really wish I could travel around the world with my girlfriend not having to worry about money or family and being able to blog at the same time using that as the money we have to enable us to travel. This is my dream for after University that I have enough money from my internet businesses to allow me and my girlfriend to take a break for a year and see the world, experience different cultures and relax before we get stuck in a career and buy our house and have children all the usual stuff that ties you down.

To an extent, you can blog from anywhere at any time, the only problem is the laptop battery! (But then again, that can be solved by carrying a spare.)
