Broke Top 1000 In Technorati
I hit a blogging milestone yesterday for John Chow dot Com. The blog broke into the top 1000 Technorati ranked blogs! Currently, the blog is ranked 984 most popular. I’m very happy with results and this is a good start to my goal of getting into the Technorati Top 100.
To reach that goal, I will need a lot more blogs linking to me. Right now, the blog has 3,109 links from 1,228 blogs. A look at the blog at the number 100 spot on Technorati shows it has 11,603 links from 2,877 blogs, so I still have a ways to go but I believe it can be done. It’s only January so I have 11 more months to achieve my goal.
You can help me achieve my goal of being a Technorati Top 100 blog by linking to me either in your blogroll or in a post. If your post is a review about me, I’ll link back to you. I have received nine new reviews since posting the ninth batch (just two days ago!). One more review and I’ll be able to make a new posting.

Reply to this commentWell even before you wrote this, I did reference to you several times in my blogs, namely this one :

Not to mention you are on my blogroll links on the sidebar.
Congratulations on your achievement in your blogs! Gives me hope haha.
Reply to this commentYour climb has been incredible. Your hard work and ingenius ideas have paid off–well done!

Your recent efforts towards the reviews, link for junk (treasure?) programs must have gone a long way in ensuring that you break into the top 1000 blogs.
Congratulations on that milestone.
As is the case, once you have a reader base and momentum going climbing further should hardly be a difficulty !
Reply to this commentAnother question - How often does this ranking get updated ?
Reply to this commentI believe it’s updated on a daily, sometimes hourly, basis.
Reply to this commentYou actually can “ping” Technorati at anytime to update your numbers. They update them within minutes of you submitting the ping. Nice feature.
Reply to this commentSomething I do not like about this ranking is that sometimes, It jumps down by 50 blogs, then up by 75, then down again..
There’s definitely something wrong with the way technorati counts their links.
Reply to this commentCongrats John, i’m sure you’ll breach the 100 mark in no time. Speaking of link backs, I just wrote a review of your site:

Let me know when you’ll add it.

Reply to this commentCongratulations, John! Your blog has inspired me in more ways than I can count and I will happily link back to you!
Reply to this commentCongratulations! It is really and impressive achivement.
I have been “lurking” on your blog for several times, and thought it was about time I made a comment especially since I really enjoy it.
Congrats again!

John, and what if I make a post about a few blogs which are interesting to me (including yours of course) — will you post a link to my blog?
Or do I have to dedicate the post only for johnchow.com?
The point is — if a post about a few blogs sound ok for you, I’ll post in three languages: English, Russian and Finnish, which means more readers and… well, sounds cool
Reply to this commentIt would have to be a review of my blog only.
Reply to this commentI already link to you!
Reply to this commentYes you do! A big thank you for that too.
Reply to this commentI also already link to you
You’ve been in my Blogroll since I started the blog.
Reply to this commentI don’t think getting in the top 100 will be much of a challenge at the pace you’re going and with your knack for self promotion. You try to do it without putting up any real content.
Reply to this commentWell John - that is what the power of an existing reader base can help you do.
If JohnChow does not leverage the power of his network who will - although agree that if overdone it can be counter productive !
Reply to this commentJohn you have a great blog here but this “buying my way up the ladder” seems a bit…how to put it…not right?
Everyone used to have an equal chance on the Net but if this (bribing you way to the top) catches on than there goes the little guy.
But you may say that its happening already and you will be right.
Just a thought.
cheers

I tend to agree. But… the higher he gets the better it is for all of us who fight for those top commenter links!
Reply to this commentCongratulations John, I’m pretty sure you’ll make it into the top100 if you continue your growth at this pace!
Reply to this commentcongratulations John !! very nice
Reply to this commentImpressive! Hope you reach your goal.
Reply to this commentHey good job there Mr.Chow!
I just noticed that my Technorati ranking dropped below 100,000 again. Last week it was below 100k, then a few days ago it jumped to 199k and now back down below 100k.
Crazy Eh?
Reply to this commentMight be a dumb question - but where do you see your ranking on Technorati ?

Keep up the good work!
Reply to this commentCongrats, John. I think I’m gonna take you up on that offer to review your blog. I’ve already included you on my blogroll. My Technorati ranking has been all over the board. I went from as high as 180k (stop laughing) to my current ranking if about 480k (seriously, stop laughing).
Reply to this commentI’m on the floor right now because I can’t get up from laughing so hard! LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! J/K
Reply to this commentHi Jon,
Congrats on getting into the top 1000.
Can you provide some tips on how you implemented the smaller size, larger size for this box, the quoted comments and the minimize-maximize a comment box?
Reply to this commentThat is all part of the Threaded Comment Plugin. I wrote about it here: http://www.johnchow.com/threading-the-comments/
Reply to this commentand to think I was going to ask you if this was new and how to get it.
Congrats on breaking the top 1000!
Reply to this commentDisregard the threaded comments part of the question above… read your other post.
Reply to this commentCongrats John. Craking those barriers are always a big accomplishment (100000, 10000, 1000, 100, 10). Just out of curiosity, do you have an exact number in mind you want to get to?
Reply to this commentNo exact number. The goal is to break into the Top 100, and then the top 50.
Reply to this commentI’m constantly impressed by the growth and development of the blog. Good luck hitting the double digits
Reply to this commentcongrats moto
Reply to this commentHuge congrats on a serious accomplishment. Considering the age of this blog, that’s not an easy thing to do.
Reply to this commentCongratulations. I actually noticed that you broke into the Top 1000 a few days ago - but I guess that was just temporary, you went above 1000 the next day (I think).
But now you’re officially in the Top 1000 and there’s no where to go but up
Reply to this commentCongrats John.
Reply to this commentI have really enjoyed reading your blog, and it really isn’t surprising to see you rising to the top in Technorati with the great quality of your posts.
I have a post up on my blog today on some of the posts you have written to be very informative for my own blog.
Reply to this commentCongratulations on the top 1000. I am around the 50,000 mark so I still have a ways to go. I have been blogging since last May.
Reply to this commenthttp://whatsthefuss.net/news/?p=15 there you go john theres my link to your blog with the review
it works out nicely because i have a review website…
also, i shot you an email the other day, have you had time to read it?
Reply to this commentI tried starting a similar contest early this week, and up to now, I only have 3 entries. Unfortunately, my blog isn’t really about SEO, and most of my readership do not have blogs.. I have even offered 50$ via Paypal to the winner, and it still doesn’t work very well.
Bleah.
If it interests anyone, the contest can be found right here: http://geeksaresexy.blogspot.com/2007/01/gas-contest-review-one-of-our-articles.html

Reply to this commentHey, John,
I did a John Chow dot com review on my AGLOCO blog yesterday. Since it is somewhat new, it would certainly help to have a link back.
I’ve been reading your blog the last few weeks and enjoy it a great deal. Being new to the blogging world, I find your posts very helpful and appreciate the efforts you put into writing them.
Thanks a bunch!
