Can I Afford To Buy Twitter?

written by John Chow on March 5, 2010

Profit from binary options

Twitter is worth an estimated $1.5 billion. For most of us, it’s a figure that we simply cannot afford. However, if your name is Mark Z and you have $300 million in cash and $4 billion in Facebook stock, the story might be a little different. Still, Mark wasn’t sure if he could afford Twitter so he decided to call up financial guru Suze Orman during her “Can I afford it” segment to see if Miss Orman would approve of Mark spending $1.5 billion on the micro blogging platform.

Did Suze Orman approved or denied Mark’s request to buy Twitter? Watch the video to find out the answer.

Boy what kind of video is that.

His neighbour spacecraft and he want to be one step ahead lollzz

These people have time and money ... surprise.

how does twitter even make money? i mean they don't even have any ads... id rather buy facebook instead... haha

why to buy twitter? better to go for facebook fan page

fb is much better than twitter........;;))

I think you should buy it John

Without competition, there would be no innovation. I think facebook is better with a twitter out there.

If i have lots of money I'll buy twitter because I know i can earn a lot from this site.

That's a pretty funny clip. Suze wouldn't make the cut as an investment banker.

That woman talks rubbish. He shouldn't buy twitter though, Facebook's the way forward.

Does she even know who Mark Z is? LOL

Susie drives me nuts. I one time heard her tell people not to look at silver as an investment strategy. Guess the people who bought gold in the 80s are glad they didn't listen to her. Great blog John.

She can't be right all the time - that'd make her more famous - like a seer or something...

Nice one! I am sure Twitter is not on sale but Mark's question seems interesting to me.
Twitter is becoming a hit, day by day it has increasing popularity.
He had good amount of money as well yea but he got denied.

Wow! 300mil in liquid?

Twitter is releasing an AD platform from what I've heard... aren't they?

i think FaceBook is much greater than Twitter,
there is no need to buy Twitter

They have different function exactly.

I feel like twitter is more like facebook status updates.

way to far to afford, twitter is not affordable for me, btw, I don't know how monetize their site.

I would just stick with Facebook and see what happens to Twitter down the road.

My thoughts exactly...

Twitter isn't for sale, and however, why he should buy twitter if he already has Facebook?

Very funny! Also love the fact she denied foursquare and godaddy afterwards!

OMG, even Mark Z can't afford Twitter...
Maybe Sergey Brin can afford it... LOL

I think one day Twitter will be bought just as how Google purchased You Tube.

I'm surprised that Google hasn't bought twitter yet...

Also may I add that she's personal finance. This is way out of her league.

I believe Mark asked the wrong person. Suze Orman is a small person with a big name. What does she know about managing Billions of dollars. NOTHING. Forget the "book" you need physical experience to give advice for that amount of money. Suze is no better than your local financial advice radio show.

How exactly does Twitter make money again???

LOL THAT WAS AWESOME!

Was it real?

No it wasn't real. It was made for the shorty awards. But don't tell anyone. Let them think it's real! LOL

LOL John, I really thought this was for real! To bad is made up, it would have been really AWESOME if it was, but it still funny.

Awesome idea for creating viral content. Though Mr Z does not need any more popularity .

I don't think twitter is for sale.

Well John I only invest in profitable things and I don't see twitter as it is now as being profitable so no I would not even be interested.

Anyone who pays $1.5 billion for Twitter better have money to burn because $1.5 billion is just the start. You still have to pay to run it after you bought it. LOL

Good point - it's not like they have any income, lol

If he bought Twitter, it would probably become Facebook 2.0

ha ha..Nice watching that. I am not a regular follower of that show but sometime just while flicking channels, I catch that shown few times.

I really like the straightforward answers she gives to the callers. They appear to be very beneficial.

She also seems to get some perverse pleasure out of being totally blunt......what gives with us deriving pleasure from the dumbness of our fellow human beings?

Now that is what the people in gaming world call "totally dominated"! Lol, 2 denials in 5 seconds - the lady seriously kicked his a**.

i can afford to buy twitter......but not in this birth, next birth

I think if he waits a while, he can buy Twitter at a lower price.

Enjoyable video, thanks for this!

Ha ha... poor Mark. The good thing is Suze Orman cut him off before he was able to indulge on an impulse buying spree.

"Why would he buy twitter in the first place if he already got Facebook?". Expansion, man. And also crushing competition.

That was funny! She put him right in his place!

Why would he buy twitter in the first place if he already got Facebook?
