Checking Out Evergreen Heights And August Views
After our normal Saturday Dot Com Pho, I took the family to check out two new housing developments in Port Moody call Everygreen Heights and August Views. I really do not intend to ever move to Port Moody because it’s too far from the downtown core. However, it’s good to see what my options are.
The two developments are the work of ParkLane Homes. Everygreen Heights homes offer 1800 to 2200 square feet of living space plus a full unfinished basement. They also feature expansive decks, contemporary interior designs, and a private forested backdrop.
The August Views homes have up to 4,000 square feet of living space with entertainment-sized decks (you know how Dot Com Moguls love to entertain), dramatic vaulted ceilings and spacious master suites. Sarah forgot to bring her camera but I managed to get these photos from ParkLine Homes.

Pretty good view huh? For limited time, ParkLane Homes is offering a $20,000 bonus package to upgrade the kitchen, bathroom and lighting. The offer is good until the end of this month. The homes at Evergreen Heights start at $785,000 and $1 million for August Views. If they weren’t located in Port Moody, I would consider them.

Beautiful view from that house!! Imagine waking up to that every morning… but I hear ya on being close to the downtown core…its nice…I’d hate to have to do that commute…
Reply to this commentNo joke. That mountain view is priceless.
Reply to this commentI live in this area and the morning commute isn’t bad - it’s about 35 mins into Vancouver and you don’t have to cross any bridges!
Reply to this commentI don’t have a commute problem but I would like to be closer to the action of the city.
Reply to this commentToo bad for you. I live in a peaceful neighborhood and I have a fantastic view of the sea, and I’m not far away from the action of the city too. If you lived where I do, you wouldn’t be so
Reply to this commentThat is an amazing view, there is no such thing as a view here in Cambridge, UK - there are just fens….
Reply to this commentNice looking house John. A house like that in my area would run about 1.3 - 1.4 million. The housing prices here in the Chicago north shore suburbs are way high. They make those homes your checking out sound like a great deal, especially with that view.
Best Regards, ElectroGeek
Reply to this commentI don’t need to be too close to a big city for my business. You can get really nice homes for much less
Reply to this commentPort Moody has relatively low median prices, and it can be a great investment depending on what kidn of lifestyle you live.
I’m a Yaletown/Downtown yuppie, and I will never move to a suburb of any sort - if I ever bought there, it would be purely for investment.
And don’t tell me “Oh jeff you will move to a suburb once you’re married..” I won’t marry a woman who doesn’t want to live downtown with me.
Reply to this commentEveryone who lives in Chicago downtown ends up moving to the suburbs at some point. The suburbs here are not your stereo typical rows of homes and picket fences. The north shore is right on lake Michigan with killer beaches, lots of trees and parks and slick new bars and nightlife close by, all without the hassle of finding parking downtown. If you lived here you’d be a suburbanite in a minute. Give it a few years….
Reply to this commentOh Jeff, you will move to a suburb once you’re married!
Hehe, just kidding. Some people have the city in their blood!
Reply to this commentIts the kids. I live in right in the heart of the city (Melbourne) at the moment, but kids need more space.
Reply to this commentThat house is amazing, its actually quite interesting to see newly developed properties in other countries, houses look nothing like that in australia
Reply to this commentYeah, houses look nothing like that in Australia. I wouldnt trade a new house for extra travel time to get anywhere.
Reply to this commentArchitecture varies greatly based on location. Even within the same country
Reply to this commentArchitecture varies on many basis. One of the reasons are climatic circumstances.. I live in a county with (just) 4 million citizens and you wouldn’t ever make any resemblance from the south and the north region..
Reply to this comment..because the clime is so different in both places!
Reply to this commentis that new zealand?
Reply to this commentVery nice houses John! Although I find them pretty expensive. Here in Chile, real state is far more cheaper than in developed countries like Canada, although it depends on the region of course. For example, you can get a very nice house, in a small island in the island of ChiloƩ for a some bucks more than $10000 USD, and they have TERRIFIC views
Reply to this commentIf you move to PoMo, you’d have to be wary of getting rear-ended by Stephen Fung.
Reply to this commentHaha, “crazy PoMo drivers”?
Reply to this commentThat’s a nice house but that view is amazing. We don’t get that kind view here in South Mississippi.
Reply to this commentYou sold me John….I’ll buy it! Well maybe when my blog generates the same income as yours someday…it’s good to dream build though.
Reply to this commentHahahaha, Hi Warren Buffet, are you dreaming to become as rich as john?
Reply to this commentEewww…Port Moody? Only Dot Com Wannabes that drive Hyundais live in Port Moody.
Nice place though…too bad it’s all the way out there. I couldn’t stand being that far from…everything.
Reply to this commentI’d live there!
Reply to this commentgood place to retire, perhaps? haha
Reply to this commentI dream to have this kind of home
Reply to this commentreally? Its not really my ’style’, the view is (of course), but I could never keep a place like that tidy!
Reply to this commentYou’ve shown us your hotel room and you’ve shown us houses you’re looking at buying — show us YOUR house, John!
Reply to this commentFor that kind of money, the least they can do is give you a better dining room light than that junky standard builder’s model…
I thought the interiors were a bit too cold and impersonal.
Reply to this commentyeah lets see your real mansion, john!
Reply to this commentThat is beautiful. To be able to get a house that nice where I live at that price is rare.
To get a house in a crappy neighborhood you’re looking at 500,000
Reply to this commentThe house is absolutely magnificent!
Reply to this commentYeah, it looks rather interesting
Reply to this commentHmmm. Interior & views are great - but I’m not so keen on what it looks like from the outside. All that grey & stone, looks kinda dull.
Reply to this commentIs that Canadian or US dollars for the homes?
Reply to this commentCanadian.
Reply to this commentI bet that view really bumped up the price. Similar homes cost a lot less in Las Vegas, but without that view of course.
Reply to this commentRooms/houses with a view generally cost more, yeah? I would definitely enjoy a house with a view like that.
Reply to this commentIs the 1 million price tag a good price? Around here (St. John’s, Newfoundland), that same house in a nice neighborhood would only cost around $330k - $350k.
FT
Reply to this commentnice view.
Reply to this commentThe view of that mountain is inspiring. I’d love to look out on the deck and see something like that. As it stands I’ve got a view of my neighbour’s house
Reply to this commentThose kinda look like ad photos and not photos from your cannon power shot. An amazing place nevertheless!
Reply to this commentYeah, they’re from the ParkLane Homes site — amazing photos though. Aiming for excellence in every detail indeed.
Reply to this commentThat same house would also cost about 250-350k in my area.
Reply to this commentMy wife would kill to live there, She is lucky if i give her a trailer:)
Reply to this commentIt reminds me of the house my parents are buying there are so many rooms my mom asked me to move back in with my fiance. haha
