Checking Out The Redesigned Morrissey

Morrissey Pub

The Morrissey Pub on Granville Street, in downtown Vancouver, recently underwent a complete redesign from Beyond Beige Interior Design and we got invited to come check it out in a private VIP unveiling party.

Along with a tour of the new space, we sampled some dishes from the Morrissey kitchen and drinks from the bar. For a pub, the food at the Morrissey was really good. They make a great deep fried squid salad.

Morrissey gave Reisa Pollard, Beyond Beige’s founder and lead interior designer a very tall order. She had to preserve the feel of the old Morrissey but update it at the same time. The end result is simply stunning, with custom touches that are so subtle, you barely noticed them but they add so much to the whole design. I should get Beyond Beige to redesign my home office.

You can check out the redesigned Morrissey at 1227 Granville Street, directly beside the Ramada Inn & Suite Downtown Vancouver. Make sure you try the squid salad.

VIP, gotta love that. It looks like a damn nice pub. To modernize but retain the old feel is tough task indeed, looks nice.

Great decor and ambiance for a pub, with grub that really could be served in an upmarket restaurant! That calamari salad looks decidedly delicious!

The truth of the matter is that restaurants generally make more money on selling liquor than food, so there is no shame in your establishement being called a pub as opposed to being called a restaurant.

Also I think the word 'Pub' gives it a sort of nostalgic, warm feeling. Or maybe that's just the scotch?

The interior design is pretty perfect. Lucky for you to visit the place. The photos of their delicacies look so yummy.!!!

Why don't you start Dot Com Mogul Ultimate Restaurant Guide? Or a TV show ;-) think of traffic boost to your sites that this would create :-)

Hey John,

Thanks for those wonderful pics of the redesigned Morrissey. Its been 4 years since I have visited Morrissey, from the pics I can say that it's now more stylish and looks more elegant than before.

cool..
seems so delicious food they have

Hey John,

I must say that you are lucky to visit the redesigned Morrissey. I am so busy wit my work these day that it is the toughest task for me to find an hour to do the stuff I like.

But these pictures definitely raised a plan in my mind and I will surely get some time to visit Morrissey.

You're like the "no reservations" dude on tv... cant remember his name. Always eating in the finest places.

great shots by the way

Squid salad looks YAMMY!!!
Let's book VIP party :)

I am so hungry after seeing this. BTW which camera did you use?

The video was done by the Canon HFS100. The photo were done by a Canon EOS DSLR.

John, are you a fan of the musician Morrissey? It appears the bar is themed towards that.

I wish I could visit the pub and enjoy the drinks and the food there. Is it home based business?

It is worthy to promote your business in global blog. I surely will check this Morrissey because this articel if luckily can travel to Vancouver.

I was about to commend John on the vastly improved photos, then I saw the credit at the end given to Ed. That explains the great pics. Heh.

LOL, you should've known better.

I agree with Asswass above... The Canadian Government or the Bar and Restaurant Association should be a major sponsor in JohnChow.com :)

If I ever make it up that way... I will definitely be checking it out! Looks awesome!

Hey Doug, I'm pretty sure you can use you blog to promote local business. I'm not sure but Extreme John is doing that as well on his blog... or maybe it's his own business.

Beautiful images John, would love to visit the Morrissey!

Well! The Place looks good and very interesting, I think the food quality would be good in such places. As far the video the pub is very good and worth to visit.

That is indeed some impressive looking food for a pub. Funky chandeliers, too!

Looks classy, how was the food?

The food was extremely good for pub food.

The food was good but could be better. My caesar salad was terrible...I wish I got the regular green salad instead because that was great.

LOL! You should tell them to give you green salad. :D

BTW, did you take these pictures? They look as they were for a magazine.

The photos were taken by Ed Lau.

Well amazing pictures. Congrats Ed.

How about the video? Is that you who filmed with your newest camera?

Most of the filming was done by my wife.

This explain why we have never seen your wife on any of your videos ;)

Yep. Very good photos by Ed.

this is not about the photos.. but the foods...lol

I think reason behind poor quality at some place because of less light ...

i didn't ed is a great photographer also...but i knew you are john

Damn John, The Canadian Government should pay you for this tourism posts. Maybe they should name you the next Tourism Minister.

LOL!! Then there will be a lot of tourists checking JohnChow.com for fine places.

I know some blogger that use their blog to promote local bussiness as well. So I wouldn't be surprised that John would be paid for that.

I think that john already paid for it. :D
