Computex 2008 – Nangang Convention Center

Today we checked out the new Nangang convention center at Computex. For 2008, Computex is spread across two convention centers, like CES. However, the centers are pretty far apart from each other. The new center is very nice and much better looking and functional than the old one.

Most of the big name companies moved to the new center, leaving mostly smaller companies in the old one. I’m pretty sure with some better planning, it would be possible to get everyone into the Nangang since only two of the five floors were being used for displays. The one upside is less crowding on the show floor because people are spread across the two convention centers.

We had a fun time walking the floor and checking out all the cool tech toys. Here are some of the highlights. Look for more later.

A lot different than from the days when I use to visit Comdex in Las Vegas (I miss those company paid-for trips in the dot com heydays).

I wish they had such events in Romania too, so we could make photos of ourselves and publish them on blogs. I would surely generate a traffic increase.

Those STYSEN hard drives are nice!

You don't look nice in this video!

I see you guys hooked up with some twins! Hard to do in a country that highly over values male children!

I wish i can see that video but my download quota is over ( have limited download allowed ) dono when the ind ISP will give us unlimited download facility ?

John, you are really a funny guy~!

What's up with the video not being available?

Yeah Sha is right they remind us of Powerpuff girls....

I want one of those dolls. They remind me of Powerpuff Girls.

Dang, I can see why all races love Asian girls :) You really answered that question quick to win that huge blow up doll lol

I dont know which centre it is, but one of the biggest news for me from computex is the launch of ATI XGP - External Graphics Card.

The external graphics solution is especially good news for laptop owners as till now upgrading/changing a notebook’s graphics card was almost always impossible and definitely hasslesome

Out of all the gadgets there John, what do you think is the best new must have thing?

I really like the RFID portable notebook drive and Pico video projector.

Not good for someone who tends to lose their keys though. :)

John,
That's a cool toy! How much is its price tag?

I think its filled with air, whats so 'tech' in it? :?:

HOHO John, enjoying ur nice trip there, I will be that city a few days later for a business trip!

$3.00 for a cab ride? What a rip-off!!

I would totally opt for a smaller, less congested crowd.

Its less congested then it usually is.
However, they need to plan a little better for the next convention.

Did Youtube make an update to their video interface?

I was also thinking about the same thing, but i think that you can change the skin!

Looks like it

Only for Wordpress 2.5.1 I guess

why you'd like to be crowded in the show floor?

I don't like a crowded show floor. However, there are many advantages to having the entire show on one convention center.
