Contest Happenings Around The Web

written by John Chow on August 28th, 2008

I was going to remind everyone about the Market Leverage contest that is coming to a a close this month and figured I should include a few contests from other bloggers as well. So, I sent out a Twitter message to my followers asking if they’re doing a contest that I can include for this post. If you were following me on Twitter and were holding a contest, then it could have been listed here. One more reason to follow me on Twitter.

Shoemoney Comment Contest

This is an on going contest that Shoe thought up to increase spam comments on his blog. Everyday, Shoe will take all the comments posted and randomly draw one as the winner five minutes before midnight. The winner will receive a ShoeMoney T-shirt and a entry into that month’s grand prize drawing. Full details here.

Gadget Tell Speaker Contest

Gadget Tell has a contest to give away a set of speakers. However, when I went to check out their site, it was down so I don’t know what kind of speakers they are. If the site comes back up, you can enter here.

Win Two $25 Gift Cards from No Debt Plan

No Debt Plan is giving away two $25 Amazon gift cards. To enter, you have to subscribe to their RSS feed. The contest is open to US residents only, so I’m out.

The Big eCommerce Conference Contest

Get Elastic, whom I did an interview with, is holding a contest to give away tickets to some of the biggest eCommerce and Internet trade shows in the world. You still have to pay your own way there but it’s nice to save the cost of the entry ticket.

Bob Buskirk New Design Giveaway

Thanks to Unique Blog Designs, Mr. Bob Buskirk recently gave his blog a new look. To celebrate, he’s holding a contest to give away $550 of prizes, including a $250 Stripe Ad on this blog. It’s well worth entering.

If your contest is not listed here, it’s because you didn’t follow me on Twitter, or you were following me but didn’t reply in time. Better luck next time.

Thanks for the contests heads up John Chow. You can definitely make money online by opening bank accounts for the bonuses and then closing them 6 months later while pocketing a coll $25- $100 in bonuses per occasion. I’ve done this and it is pretty sweet.

I want to win a free UBD design! Who’s going to give that away?

John, I had not seen your interview on the Get Elastic site. I’m heading there now. I’m an avid reader of their site, but I haven’t been reading it for that long.

Great contests, they are an awesome way to gain traffic to your blog. They boost traffic usually by 30%. That’s huge!

I’ve found a great way to boost traffic by 200-300% in a couple of days through a single giveaway. But you only get the opportunity once quarterly.

BloggyGiveaways.com has a quarterly giveaway posting where literally 1000’s of bloggers post something they are giving away that week. If you’re at least in the top 60 or 70 of that list you can get amazing traffic.

I did this for another blog I have and got 600 visitors in one day just from that giveaway. People love free stuff!
