Dissecting John Chow dot Com
Kumiko’s Cash Quests has posted one the best review of John Chow dot Com that I’ve ever read. Kumiko was able to get under the surface and really dissect how a Dot Com Mogul makes money online.
Look past the banner advertisements and see the posts where he thanks those who bought him a beer. Is it a “thank you” post, or is it an advertisement for the sites linked to in the post? Is it an encouragement for others to “buy him a beer” in the hope that may too receive a link from his site at cheaper prices than his regular advertising options?
Look past the AGLOCO posts and see the traffic that they generate. Does he care about making money from AGLOCO or will he make more money through the publicity generated simply by having such a large network? Does your answer change when I tell you that just one of my comments on one his AGLOCO posts has already sent me over 2000 visitors?
Look past his free e-book as a learning tool and see the affiliate links in the book. Does it surprise you that affiliate sales are the blog’s second-biggest earner?
Look past his review me for a link back promotion and see that the “batch” posts only stay on the front page for around 4 hours. Is his plan to receive more traffic than he is giving out?
For a limited time, Cash Quests is offering reviews of your site for $50 and I must say, it’s definitely worth every penny. The review has sent me 167 visitors from the Cash Quests blog. However, over 500 people read Cash Quests from RSS so I’m sure the real visitor count sent by Kumiko is over 200. If you don’t have the $400 it takes to order a ReviewMe review on John Chow dot Com, then a review on Cash Quest is the next best thing.

Kumiko seems to be coming along pretty well. Too bad I can’t afford a review on either of your sites. Being a broke college student is blehhhh.
Reply to this commentHow about easyfinancedreviews.com?

Reply to this commentGreat self promo plug!
Reply to this commentkumiko certainly is doing really well
2000 pageviews for one comment? wow, that’s impressive
guess, i’ll have to go there and check it out and spread the word for avideoaday.com
Reply to this comment“Easyfinancedreviews.com” already exists. It’s called “social network” / blogger contacts.
Reply to this commentHasn’t she sold her blog? Somehow I don’t think it’s kumiko no more…

Reply to this commentHere’s my post on that topic:

Reply to this commentIt’s DEFINITELY not sold. However, there have been a few small changes that have increased the value of the site exponentially. Trust me, it’s still very much “kumiko-powered”!
Reply to this commentdefinitely a great in depth review. Not a bad site overall.
Reply to this commentvery good review
i’m sure kumiko is jumping up and down for joy as she just saved herself 400 dollars
Reply to this commentShe’s always been visible in John Chow dot com, and has earned a lot of respect from peers and readers for a while now. This only boosts her popularity.
Reply to this commentYes it is true everyone of John Chow dot Com posts are densely filled with affiliate links and ads that is not difficult to see. That is why he is a ‘mogul’. They are there for the world to see and click on but is done in a unobtrusive manner. As far as the Review me for a link back. It would be nice if he lived up to the agreement and posted the link. Still waiting for my link from June 23rd(Batch 90).
Reply to this commentjohn will keep his words for sure
john offers the ebook for free, besides the affiliate links are just a live example to show us how to apply it in real life situation
Reply to this commentI’m also waiting… since the Google dismissal there haven’t been any new batch posts.
Reply to this commentI wonder who else is waiting. I am starting to feel doooped.
Reply to this commentI had also read the review before you mentioned it. Actually, probably the reason it didn´t send YOU more visitors is because most of his readers know your blog (it was my case), but if the review wasn´t of a blog that was already so popular, then he would probably have sent A LOT more visitors.

Reply to this commentOne comment = 2000 visits? no way
Reply to this commentExactly!
Reply to this commenti think she got that many over a period of time so no surprise there…wish i commented
Reply to this commentWay. I was in the post of John using the AGLOCO viewbar. John’s post got linked to by the AGLOCO company blog and traffic to his post went through the roof. I picked up the leftovers.
Reply to this commentSo, it wasnt really from the comment you left, but from a link John left in the post?
Also, I read the review last night and I must say it was very detailed. I also read on Kwan’s site how you are moving back from the kuminko came and turning it just into cash quests, could we see a possible sale in the foreseeable future?
Reply to this commentLet me clarify - there was a link in a comment that I left in the post.
Reply to this commentIt is possible.
Reply to this commentVery detailed review. Best of the best…..
Reply to this commentit’s good, but not that good
Reply to this commentI agree. Nothing new in this review, but it sums up Johns tactics nicely.
Reply to this commentIt’s a breath of fresh air actually. I’ve read a lot of John Chow reviews and I have to say this one is pretty good than most.
Reply to this commentI really only points out the obvious.
Reply to this commentYea, it’s great. I wish sb. review my site like this ;).
Reply to this commentMaybe will buy a reviews Kumiko’s Cash Quests….
Reply to this comment$50 is rather cheap
Reply to this commentthat is cheap
Reply to this commentIn my experience it’s much better to go in with a low price; the higher number of reviews you get definitely pays off.
Reply to this commentThat’s actually a good strategy — spread those reviews to hopefully reach more people.
Reply to this commentYa i agree all the point…
Reply to this commentI saw this post on the site and loved it as well. Excellent post.
Reply to this commentSo basically everything John appears to be doing for other bloggers benefit, is actually to benefit himself… this is news worthy. You still owe me a glass of wine- John for leaving a comment on your keg party post. -Michelle
Reply to this commentFifty bucks for that review is great. It is very detailed, and well written. You got your money’s worth!
Reply to this commentAm I the only one having trouble viewing Kumikos site lately? I mean it just doesn’t load
Reply to this commentI can view it fine on both Firefox and IE.
Reply to this commentMe too can view by Both Firefox and IE
Reply to this commentIn terms of trafic, are there any numbers on what amount of trafic/number of users is generated for JohnCow.com by search engines, subscribers, affiliate sites, mybloglog. Just wonder how most users come to this site.
Reply to this commentI was at this site before and generaly it is good idea.
Reply to this commentI have to agree with You. Kumiko is dong great job :).
Reply to this commentMust have been a great comment to drive that kind of traffic.
Reply to this commentLooks like a pretty good deal for me. And at $50, I might just order a personal review for my blog.
Steve
Reply to this commentI could already see the reviewme requests pouring in. Snaps for Kumiko!
Reply to this commenti was reading it yesterday and I was really impressed by how she wrote the review. i think kumiko will be the next John Chow…. th eonly bad thing is she’s banned from Adsense.
Reply to this commentI make more money without Adsense than I ever did with it. I’d rather keep a reader on my site than send them away for ten cents.
Reply to this commentInteresting article, the author did a great job disecting and getting behind the apppearances on the blog. The real question is was the article written to review john or promote himself? Either way both were achieved so congrats. Also it was interesting to see the real perceived motives behind the actions. Pretty cool.
Reply to this commentIt is hard not to break even with $50…
Reply to this commentI visited Kumiko’s blog way back when she first started, and wasn’t too impressed (well, except for her pic, assuming that’s even her!)…but after scanning the site just now, I must say that I feel she’s come a long way in recent months. The article on the Chow-Meister was nicely put together, and she’s clearly done some other good work recently. A pretty good read!
Reply to this commentLoL, that is a great review. I like how you review folks then it disappears in 4 hrs. Even though it is gone in 4 hrs, almost all of your readers have read it by then.

You’re kidding right? CashQuests is so “un-Kimiko” it is a joke. I unsubscribed from the RSS feed and will be dropping it from the blogroll on my site.
Reply to this commentThe current Cash Quests site is bland, boring and ORANGE! What a provocative color!
Kumiko’s site was spunky and fun. It had fire, spit and gumption.
Cash Quests is about as exciting as a melted popsicle on a sidewalk. An orange popsicle.
