Doing The Infolinks Boggie Dance

written by John Chow on May 26, 2011

How to make $593 in less than one hour

The Blog World Expo show floor featured about 100 exhibitors showing off their wares. As you can imagine, trying to capture the attention of show goers can be a challenge. Infolinks came up with a novel approach to grab people’s eyeballs. Do a boggie dance!

As part of their African Safari promotion, Infolinks hired a bunch of dancers to do a traditional African dance every 30 minutes. While the show goers enjoyed the performance, I’m not sure how the booth next door felt about it after the third or fourth boggie.

In addition to the Infolinks dance, the video features Syed and I getting into trouble (again) by throwing footballs at people. Enjoy!

I’ve got to get to The Blog World Expo next year! Other than the information, what are the main benefits of going?

John Chow May 26, 2011 at 8:35 am

Networking and meeting other bloggers.

ZK @ Web Marketing Tips May 27, 2011 at 2:21 am

You will also get materials to post on your blog … Like John is getting.

But you need to have same enthu

That is true. Also, you don’t have to wait till next year. There should be one in Las Vegas later this year!

Nicholas James May 27, 2011 at 3:45 pm

Networking. The most valuable reason to go.

exsuit May 26, 2011 at 7:21 am

I’m not sure how I felt about the dance after the first minute, let alone all day long!

Kevin Kimes May 26, 2011 at 10:38 pm

I thought it was a pretty neat presentation. But the 2nd time would get repetitive. The nth time would get downright annoying.

Feel bad for all the presenters in the immediate area, especially for the inevitable moments that they’re trying to talk to prospective new business contacts when one of these breaks out.

PPC Ian May 27, 2011 at 8:55 am

Yeah, it cant be too fun for the booths close by. But, I think that’s part of the fun in it all, seeing the look on the faces of the competitors/other booths!

ZK @ Web Marketing Tips May 27, 2011 at 2:24 am

After every half an hour is I think too much …. May be 4 or 5 times will be good enough in one whole day.

Adesoji Adegbulu@MakeMoneyOnlineNigeria May 26, 2011 at 7:22 am

Good stuff. InfoLinks went all out with their exhibit hall dance crew. They had a perfect location for this on the exhibit hall floor as well. Not too many other exhibitors or freebies at BlogWorld this time around…

ZK @ Web Marketing Tips May 27, 2011 at 2:29 am

No freebies …. John will miss them a lot and we will miss video of those funny acts …

College Scholarships May 26, 2011 at 8:09 am

I can see promoters discouraging this after it catches on…no one wants to be left on the sidelines…I can see the amount of networks trying something like this increase for visibility…soon it’ll be a carnival :-)

ZK @ Web Marketing Tips May 27, 2011 at 2:31 am

Quite agree with you … What if everyone started like this get attention

PPC Ian May 27, 2011 at 8:57 am

Justin | Mazzastick May 26, 2011 at 11:48 am

John,
Infolinks is cool and it does well on my blog. I only have it set to five per page, it looks like you have it set to less than that.

The dancing reminded me of a festival. Cool video thanks for sharing.

Jayrweblog May 27, 2011 at 9:53 pm

mine too, infolinks is next to my adsense as one of my primary monetization tool.

Steve Zussino - Canadian Coupons May 26, 2011 at 2:35 pm

Never tried infolinks – how do they compare to using Adsense?

Aren’t they all CPA?

Justin | Mazzastick May 26, 2011 at 8:19 pm

Infolinks is less intrusive then adsense. Infolinks is the blue underlined words that you see on John’s website. When you hover your mouse over the underlined word an add pops up. You get money when someone clicks on the add.

I get clicks almost everyday from infolinks. Also you can set how many words that you want to be underlined on your blog. It’s from one to twelve I believe. I have mine set to five on my blog. Too many underlined words may be a turn-off to your readers.

ZK @ Web Marketing Tips May 27, 2011 at 4:48 am

Huge difference between adsense and infolinks. Infolinks works on your texts while adsense clearly shows on your page.

Nicholas James May 27, 2011 at 3:46 pm

Adsense doesn’t clearly show on the page if you blend it well and its even harder to notice if you are a ‘premium’ adsense member

Jayrweblog May 27, 2011 at 9:55 pm

But adsense pays better than infolinks, lol.. I love both infolinks and adsesnse anyways.

Louie Sison May 26, 2011 at 4:32 pm

Looks like you really had a nice time.

ZK @ Web Marketing Tips May 30, 2011 at 2:30 am

With this kind of dance their booth will always be center of attraction.

Kevin Kimes May 26, 2011 at 10:33 pm

This is the marketing strategy for InfoLink. Some thing funny and dancing platform like this will attract the attention of lot of people. Seems show was great.

ZK @ Web Marketing Tips May 30, 2011 at 2:27 am

They were using some steps from the folk dance of west India its called garba.

Different kind of marketing strategy used by infolinks

Shell June 12, 2011 at 1:56 am

Hi John,
When I saw the title of this, I thought it was going to be about something similar to the ‘Google Dance’ as when I added infolinks to my site my traffic practically stopped! I left it on there for two weeks to see if it increased, but no. In the end I took it off, and traffic is now back! You can see the site I put it on at – shelley bailey

I also have adsense on this site, and I know you have said Google are fine with both, (as it is on your site) but it definitely destroyed my traffic. I hadn’t changed anything else, and my page position on front page of Google did not change, so any thoughts?

Favourite Hobbies June 18, 2011 at 3:30 am

Infolinks are looking best when comparing to other affiliate networks

Forex News July 17, 2011 at 10:55 am

mine too, infolinks is next to my adsense as one of my primary monetization tool.
