Tonight is the Facebook land rush to get your own vanity URL on Facebook. What this mean is you’ll be able to tell your friends that your Facebook URL is Facebook.com/yourname. However the claim process will be first come, first serve. If you want to prevent your name from being claimed by a squatter, then you should be at Facebook tonight at midnight EST (9PM PST) and claim your name.
You are allowed to claim only one name so make sure it’s the one you want. I just know that if I’m not there right when the land rush opens, someone is going to take my name. Facebook did pre-book some names for trade marked companies and well known journalists but everyone else in on their own.
To claim your Facebook URL, go http://www.facebook.com/username/. There’s a countdown clock on there right now. Less than seven hours to go. Good luck getting your name!
