Dot Com Pho – 4th of July Edition

4th fo July started early at Dot Com Pho. Actually, it started yesterday with a kick-off party at Yorrow Point, continued today with Pho at Thanh Vi, and will end with a big fireworks display on Monday. We had five people attend this edition, including Nate Whitehill of Unique Blog Designs and Josie Office Design.

For this 4th of July edition of Dot Com Pho, we have made in America cupcakes, loud Hawaiian shirts, Mexican beer at a 4th of July kick-off, a seaplane at my house, and a whole lot more. Anyone is welcome to join us for Dot Com Pho. Follow me on Twitter to find the time and location of the next one.

The fried shrimp and ice coffee look great, John. As for the fireworks display, do you know anyone with the ability to get the 5 inch ultra salute as seen on Dirty Jobs Fireworks?

It requires some license, but I’m not sure what it’s called. There isn’t much documentation on this subject either, but surely someone of your caliber can get the answers.

    1. John Chow says:

I have no idea. I’ve never seen that show and I’ve never purchased fireworks before.

  2. Harlan Yee says:

John, I am sometimes confused whether you’re a Canadian or a US-ian. 🙂 You used to live in Vancouver, but now Hunts Point (Steve Ballmer’s neighborhood), yes? I’m just trying to ensure my brain is catching the details properly. No, I’m not a stalker, my brain is just hyperactive. 🙂

You usually talk about topics with a Canadian perspective, so it’s easy for one to think that you still live there.

    1. John Chow says:

I am a Canadian and like many Canadians who live near the the border, I have properties in both counties.

      1. Yes still remember go daddy address issue because of your Seatle shifting.

      2. Kevin Kimes says:

Ah, I see then. When do you get your seaplane? 😀

      3. It can be good to stay near the border if the police or FBI is after you if you are hacking or spamming too much 🙂

        1. So John … joshie is going to design your office ?

        2. Lolzzz … Love your sense of humour or may be negative mentality … ?

  10. Kevin Kimes says:

I have a lighter exactly like that huge silver one the lady was using to light those candles. Weird.

    1. So Kevin what other things you have in common …. Lolllzzz

  11. fazal mayar says:

looks like you had a good time, every saturday a dot com pho is good stuff john.

  12. Seems to me that your neighbours are not camera friendly … No one said hello to you in front of camera …

    1. Kevin Kimes says:

I’ve noticed that people with “old money” sometimes behave strangely around cameras unless they really know the person wielding it.

Despite the big parties, I don’t think I’d want to live in a neighborhood like that no matter how much money I had. 😛

      1. But they are enjoying in themselves … May be John is new neighbour and less known to them … Is that the case John ?

    2. PPC Ian says:

Yeah, seems like that. Certainly a nice neighborhood. Maybe next time we’ll see more of the neighbors.

  13. Looks like a great event in the Video…
