Dot Com Pho – 5/3/2008

written by John Chow on May 3, 2008

How to make $593 in less than one hour

We got some new faces for this week’s edition Dot Com Pho. It’s good to see our little weekly get together starting to attract people outside our little group of bloggers. I’m sure we’ll be able to take over the entire Pho Lan restaurant real soon.

For this week’s Dot Com Pho, we check out the new Apple Macbook Air and Asus EeePC. Sally gives her opinion on a LG cell phone. We also got the Gadget of the week, Stephen Fung’s Dot Com makeover, our Dot Com Pho sponsor and the Sally Cam!

Conservatives and Normals May 3, 2008 at 7:21 pm

Did that guy bump into him on purpose towards the end of the video?

John Chow May 3, 2008 at 11:36 pm

There was no bump. It only looked it on the video.

I wish I had won the 10,000 entrecard credits, but I didn’t then get over it.
If you gonna give away those laptops please give one to me. I don’t have money to buy one and I think I deserve it. Just kidding, everybody that support John Chow deserve it too.
Well if I go to Canada this year I’ll be glad to join you guys.
Hi little Sally…

Conservatives and Normals May 3, 2008 at 8:41 pm

Thiago Prado May 4, 2008 at 9:30 am

Sha May 4, 2008 at 9:33 am

Oh snap. It burns.

Fiesty today are we?!

Thiago Prado May 4, 2008 at 10:00 am

My intention wasn’t to treat anybody bad, but I hate nosy people…

zephyr May 3, 2008 at 9:01 pm

See how it’s possible

Go2Wellington May 3, 2008 at 9:06 pm

Michael (Fata1ity) Yurechko May 3, 2008 at 11:34 pm

That would be her dad… John

John Chow May 3, 2008 at 11:37 pm

She used to like the lemon!

Paul Piotrowski May 4, 2008 at 1:26 am

That didn’t look like a lemon! It looked like a lime!

That’s why Sally didn’t like it.

Simon Lau May 4, 2008 at 7:17 am

You truly are evil  but it looks like Sally is on her way to becoming the youngest reviewer ever!

Affiliate Confession May 3, 2008 at 9:35 pm

So how do we win the MacBook Air?

Michael (Fata1ity) Yurechko May 3, 2008 at 11:37 pm

You don’t. Its mine

Paolo U May 3, 2008 at 11:49 pm

No, it would be mine!

John Chow May 3, 2008 at 11:39 pm

We haven’t figured that out yet.

Paul Piotrowski May 4, 2008 at 1:35 am

In every video that you do, put in some John Chow trivia. First person to comment with the right answer gets X amount of points. Person with the most points after 10 video’s wins or whatever the number is.

That way people will want to visit your site often to get a chance to be the first ones to answer.

For example, a sample question might be “What was John’s ICQ number?” Answer: 27444099 .

Just have another random drawing for the MacBook Air, I seem to be pretty good at winning those kind of contests.

Affiliate Confession May 5, 2008 at 7:49 pm

It sure would be nice to have one of those MacBooks. schhhweet!

david cheong May 4, 2008 at 11:05 am

I love how Sally actually looked down at the keyboard & hit the keys. And I don’t blame her for not liking lemon! Nasty.

The scanner looks wicked. I love small gadgets. Makes things much easier.

Man, if I lived there, I would go to Dot Com Pho! I’d be the only woman there, but that’s okay! Looks like you lot had fun once again.

John Chow May 4, 2008 at 9:36 am

You wouldn’t be the only woman there. Most times, wives and girlfriends comes to Dot Com Pho but we don’t put them in the video for privacy reasons.

Paul Piotrowski May 4, 2008 at 4:35 pm

The other videos above broke privacy. :)

david cheong May 4, 2008 at 11:02 am

Wow, this days, laptops or notebook are really getting smaller and smaller, man, the Mac really thin, cool tech.

Syed Balkhi May 5, 2008 at 5:42 am

Wish they can make a spot for a cd in mac air … that would be nice ..

jentekk May 4, 2008 at 5:18 pm

lol! That was very entertaining John. I couldn’t help but notice that the ladies were outnumbered by the fellas big time. I’ll have to come out again sometime and help balance the scales, and protect Sally from you guys trying to feed her lemons or limes!! ;)

Terry Tay May 4, 2008 at 8:15 pm

I think Sally was trying to politely tell you to go suck a lemon John

I could think of someone you can send the MacBook Air to
…but some type of contest sounds cool

Michael (Fatal1ty) Yurechko May 5, 2008 at 4:48 am

That was seriously my MacBook Air, and John.. I am not cool with giving it away… :P

I will consider trading it for last months blog income though…

Syed Balkhi May 5, 2008 at 5:41 am

Nice, I like sally she is smarter than you think you are … Trying to laugh at her when she eats lemon and make faces .. that didn’t work hahah

Flimjo May 5, 2008 at 11:27 am

Funny stuff. Wish I could make these things, but I’m all the way in FLORIDA!

ClogMoney May 6, 2008 at 6:43 am

I hate these thin laptops, i threw mine on the floor and it broke, rubbish.

Art May 6, 2008 at 11:47 am

Have you been able to catch an episode of Charlie Rose a few months ago, where he was sporting a black eye? Well, the story behind the black eye was that he tripped over a pot hole with his MacBook in hand. Well, he saved the MacBook, but not his face. Mac just can’t get publicity like that.
