Dot Com Pho – Consuming Media Edition

written by John Chow on April 17, 2010

How one lazy bum made $176,697.50

This week’s Dot Com Pho felt a bit strange because none of the regulars showed up. There was no Ed, no Stephen, no Michael or any of the faces we see every week. I think they all died or something. At any rate, we still had a great meet up with 8 people attending the weekly Pho fest.

On this episode, I show you how the Apple iPad is the greatest device ever made for consuming media, Josh Rimer shows you how to master YouTube and buy love on the Internet, George Moen explains why he has to pay for coffee at Blenz even though he is the company’s CEO and everyone just laughs at his excuse. BTW – don’t tell workers at Blenz that you know their CEO. They’ll charge you double.

Wow wish I had an IPAD.

Josh is following the oldest rule of Internet industry "GIVE"

Many people are saying that definition of touching change with iPad.

That was a really cool iPad demo, John!

The only concern I have is with the magazine apps. The Popular Science one seemed overly complicated to navigate. I feel like I'd almost prefer the less interactive scan of the mag.

I don't know, maybe it's more intuitive than it looks?

I think the PS may have gone a little overboard with their first issue. I think they may have done that as a tech demo more than any normal issue you can expect in the future.

The IPad really seems to be kicking it off well!

Its already my friend.

Apple postponed international delivery to cope up the demand of US only.

Pho, pronounced Pha, is basically a soup-noodle dish composed of various veggies & meat. It's comparable to the Japanese traditional ramen dish, no not the one in a pack that cooks in 5 mins. lol

Good that you clear the 5 minutes noodle option.

Well now I know what Pho mean

just google it, you will find out funny search

He said now he knows ... that mean he knew about it.

No video on about the Blenz coffee place.

We had a shot of it during last week's edition. Ed and I did the last part of the video in there.

Now this is the exaction definition of ipad and also you described the use of iPad properly.

Cool gathering - you do this weekly? Looks like fun! Anyway after hearing your take on the iPad already one of my legs is inching into the Apple Store...i agree that the iPad is a great device for consuming media - it'd revolutionize the way media will come to us, and not us to them.

Unless I am out of town, I hold Dot Com Pho every Saturday.

One thing surprised me ... no food introduction in this pho :)

I notice that too. Where's the food?

IPad demo is the reason.

John was really exciting.

I might have missed it, but what does Pho mean John?

Pho means you'll get a delicious wholesome meal in a bowl at a reasonable price. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ph%E1%BB%9F

I was wondering about this also, I thought it is an abbreviation for something like

People Have Opportunities

or something like this ;-) SY

It's nice to have a gathering once a while, discussing about life!

I'm on my way there ...
