written by John Chow on January 3, 2009

Make money with YouTube

Dot Com Pho returns to Pho Vancouver (AKA Happy Pho) on Main and King Edwards for the first Pho of 2009. We had a full house of 15 people braving the snow to meet up at the happiest Pho restaurant in the world. It was great to see so many make it out to the weekly Pho fest. Anyone is welcome to join us for Dot Com Pho. Follow me on Twitter to find out the time and location of the next one.

For the first Dot Com Pho of 2009, we have another Dot Com Pho commercial, Pho menu #L3, the gadget of the week, iPhone app of the week, trying to learn mandarin, the night before CES party, the biggest Twitter shout out to date (43 shouts!) plus a whole lot more.

This week’s Dot Com Pho was sponsored by Market Leverage, filmed with a Flip Mino digital camcorder and edited with iMovie 08 on the MacBook Pro. See you next week!

Canadian Online Flyers January 3, 2009 at 7:23 pm

Johan Cyprich January 5, 2009 at 12:19 pm

Steven-Sanders January 3, 2009 at 7:24 pm

Actually the tallest mountain in the world is under the ocean. Unless you’re talking about elevation instead of height. :)

Steven-Sanders January 3, 2009 at 7:39 pm

It only took me a couple of months, but I finally made it into the twitter shout-outs. I’m usually too busy making money or something. :)

Michael Kwan January 3, 2009 at 7:52 pm

Wait a minute…. in the Twitter shoutouts, there’s a “Love Sexy Ed Lau” from EdLau.com? What the hell is that?

John Chow January 3, 2009 at 8:40 pm

Yep. It seems someone loves Ed Lau!

Monty - Sensonize.com January 4, 2009 at 7:18 am

Ben Pei January 4, 2009 at 8:29 am

Taris Janitens January 5, 2009 at 7:07 am

I wonder how much of a traffic boost that gave ed lol

I never climbed much of a mountain, but I did take the South Kaibab trail from the rim of the Grand Canyon down to the Colorado River at the bottom and back up in one day…that was the hardest physical thing I’ve ever done, but well worth it for the pictures and experience…I think it was around 14 miles…took 4 hours to get down and about 7 back up.

Eric January 3, 2009 at 8:28 pm

Haha, nice video. Is that Pho any good?!?

Ben Pei January 4, 2009 at 3:49 am

It has to be right..?

John Chow January 4, 2009 at 9:23 am

If it’s not, we wouldn’t be eating it every week!

Arfan January 3, 2009 at 9:04 pm

Thanks for the Shout out =)

Taris Janitens January 4, 2009 at 7:56 am

Monty - Sensonize.com January 4, 2009 at 7:13 am

I missed the shout out :(

Taris Janitens January 4, 2009 at 7:53 am

Pretty intense climbing a mountain to display the market leverage banner!!! :O

Jitendra Kapoor January 4, 2009 at 8:08 am

Shows where the intensity of a blogger mindset is headed and the integrity that one carries along the path… to places where no man has gone before !!!

Max January 4, 2009 at 8:18 am

Arr… finally made it to the twitter shout-out, but now you decided NOT to read them out loud anymore — too bad, as I would’ve *loved* to hear you try my Dutch name and domain. =] Oh, and at some point one of the Pho people is in view, saying something. Was he encouraging you folks, or telling you to stop using his place as a movie set? =]

Nice vid as usual, keep the great stuff coming in 2009!

Enduring Wanderlust January 4, 2009 at 8:27 am

I could use a good Phở chay recipe :)

game-girl January 4, 2009 at 6:47 pm

The ways of a BLOGGER are inscrutable.

Carpe diem Suicidal January 4, 2009 at 8:52 pm

Hot-dang! That Pho joint looks a great place to grub. The kid’s beef vermicelli – I’d eat in 10 seconds flat.

boxing supplies January 4, 2009 at 8:59 pm

video is superb, me too need a camera.

boxing equipment January 4, 2009 at 9:03 pm

Flip Mino digital camcorder is so cool and is mini, so its pocketable.

boxing gloves January 4, 2009 at 9:04 pm

Cool, this is the time for Market Leverage.

Gary Lee January 5, 2009 at 12:35 am

i love how you guys are such apple whores now . . . btw . .when does the snow melt, so I can go up there?

Seo Creations January 5, 2009 at 12:51 am

I like the mountain landscape in the video.

BusinessX January 5, 2009 at 1:27 am

The iBlow was funny and, yes, useless. Seemed Mr. Happy Pho wanted some screen time. He kept creeping in during taping.

clickktdotcom January 5, 2009 at 3:10 am

I like the mountain in the video. What it’s name?

MLDina January 5, 2009 at 6:00 pm

That’s actually our (MarketLeverage’s) CEO, Michael Jenkins. He recently climb Mount Aconcagua, which is the tallest mountain outside of Asia! He brought a mini replica of our trade show booth along to hold up at the peak of the mountain. Pretty cool, huh? :)

game-girl January 5, 2009 at 3:17 am

I agree with the opinion expressed above and rather add that a wide demand is a ground for any market including online.

ZK@internet Marketing Blog January 5, 2009 at 8:16 am

John , when is your next trip to Toronto ?

John Chow January 5, 2009 at 9:03 am

I don’t know. I don’t have plan to visit this year. But you never know.

WebTrafficROI January 5, 2009 at 9:25 pm

xCheapHotel January 5, 2009 at 2:35 pm

There are way better cameras than a flip mino, by the way, nice and interesting video.
