What I hear when I edit and what I hear after YouTube upload are very different. It's like when some of the TV shows USED to make it onto YouTube, they sounded quite poor compared to when they were on TV. It's like that rich, well edited audio score gets turned to mung when it hits the Tubes. YouTube definitely seems to flatten the audio which makes the background noise stand out. I think what I'll do is try one of the filters and see if I can attenuate that for future videos.
