Dot Com Pho – Justin Bieber Fever Edition

Dot Com Pho returns to Vancouver with another full house. In fact, it was so full that Mr. Happy Pho had to get us two tables! A total of 15 people showed up to see some Justin Bieber fever. Anyone is welcome to join us for Dot Com Pho and we do mean anyone. The age gap between the youngest and oldest attendee is 79 years!

For the Justin Bieber Fever edition of Dot Com Pho, we have Justin Beiber (yes!), a day in the life of Ed “Always Late” Lau, a gadget of the week that turns your iPad into a netbook and a whole lot more. Enjoy and we will see you next week for Dot Com Pho Hawaii!

For those who can’t get enough Dot Com Pho, here’s another video by Vance Sova.

It was a really good dot com pho – hadn’t been in ages & was great to catch up with everyone!

    1. John Chow says:

You forgot to pay for your Avo shake!

      1. Hey John,

The Zagg stuff seems very good. Today was really fun. My video is taking forever to upload to YouTube, I’ll send you the link ASAP.

If Josh really forgot to pay for the Avocado shake at least he contributed to the meeting in other way as captured on my video.

I’d love to go to the Hawaii Pho. Wearing Hawaiian shirts at this time of year and at the Pho will be very enjoyable..

        1. PPC Ian says:

Yeah, Hawaii Pho is going to be amazing! πŸ™‚ Can’t wait.

          1. Man, I’d like to attend the Hawaii edition of Dot Com Pho.

          2. It would be great to be there in Hawaii for the Pho. One of the reasons is the totally different atmosphere and the ability to relax and have fun afterwards.

      2. Abhik says:

Put it oh his tab πŸ™‚

    2. yes after long long time able to see so many people.

Though act of all people are not recorded.

      1. ZK,

Have you watched the second video? A lot more acts asre recorded there plus John seen as you’d never seen him unless you are there.

  2. Vincent Woon says:

Wow seem like there’s a FULL house every time you are in Vancouver. (Should go back more often)
Thanks for the review! I was looking into the ZAGGmate. Now I will have a case with a keyboard

    1. PPC Ian says:

Yeah, that ZaggMate is cool. I really liked the gadget of the week. It’s funny that Zagg also sells an invisible shield for the ZaggMate! Those invisible shields are not cheap, I have one on my iPhone and iPad.

      1. I totally agree. The invisible shields from Zagg are awesome and worth the money.

        1. PPC Ian says:

Agreed! Not cheap at all, but totally worth it. You just need to make sure to set aside a lot of time and patience for installation. Also, you need to have clear expectations that the bubbles can take up to a few days to work their way out. I was totally freaking out thinking I had destroyed my iPhone but then the bubbles did finally go away! πŸ™‚

          1. Patience is the key! Since we are on the Hawaiian theme, I now have “Tiny Little Bubbles” by Don Ho playing in my head. It will pass.

    2. The ZaggMate is too cool. Love to get one and have a iPad laptop. Course I gotta get an iPad first.

    3. your productivity will increase many folds, if you will use keyboard as well.

      1. ZK,

I think that it depends. Some people actually said that because of the smaller size of the keyboard the’d much rather just use the iPad screen. But the keyboard (the back side of it is a great way to protect the iPad.

  3. interesting events at vancouver…good info

    1. certainly this one was interesting and one of the main attraction of John’s blog.

      1. ZK,

I’d like to know if you watched both videos from the Pho. And the one before, two weeks ago as well. They are packed with good stuff.

  4. Peter says:

Justin Bieber Fever is a great profitable opportunity.

    1. but no discussion about Justin this dot com pho.

      1. Oh … I simply saw Vance video, missed John’s one.

I must admit that watching video from John’s hand is more fun. I am sure Vance will also start adding fun and humour in his video.

        1. Hey ZK,

Glad you watched my video. I’m more of a reporter right now but I appreciate your saying that you’d like more fun. John has had a lot more practice.

  5. PPC Ian says:

Did I hear you say Dot Com Pho Hawaii next week? Wow! Hawaii is probably my favorite place on the planet. Are you going there on vacation or for business (or for both)?

    1. Abhik says:

Well, Hawaii is one of the most happening city on earth.
I have heart to go there sometime this year.

    2. Hey Ian,

John does business even when on vacation. Hawaii is a great place. I love it.

      1. PPC Ian says:

Yeah, I understand that, it’s the same scenario for me as well each time I travel (and I’m betting for most people in our industry). When I went to Hawaii last September, I was there for vacation but also wrote two blog posts on my iPad while watching all my PPC campaigns closely. πŸ™‚ I guess the dot com lifestyle is all about mobility and blurring the lines between vacation and business. And, if you’re doing something you love like online marketing it really isn’t work at all. My main question was whether there was some online marketing meetup or conference in Hawaii that I didn’t know about… How cool would that be, Affiliate Summit Hawaii or something like that! πŸ™‚ The closest thing that came to it, that I’ve seen, was Chef Patrick’s DNCruise last summer…

        1. No plans for Affiliate Summit to go to Hawaii, but the second Affiliate Summit, in 2004, was on a cruise ship.

    3. John Chow says:

Yep! Pho next week will be from sunny Hawaii! It was a spure of the moment trip. Sally’s school is on break for two weeks so we just decided to go somewhere.

      1. Hey John,

There’s lots to do there and relax at the same time. Explore the beaches around the island, go to Sea Life Park, take a ukulele lesson etc. It would be nice if some Dot Com Pho participant brought a ukulele and played it singing Happy Pho Around the World.

Wait, that song has to be composed yet. But any creative person can do that on the spot spontaneously. If you post a contest to create it I’ll join it.

      2. PPC Ian says:

What a great idea! πŸ™‚ That is so cool – what an amazing vacation for you, Sally, and your family. I’m definitely going to be visiting Hawaii sometime this summer with my wife for our summer vacation. We are in the planning phase and determining which hotel to stay at, although we have narrowed it down to somewhere Maui most likely. I can’t wait to hear all about your trip.
        All the best,

    4. John’s vacation itself is a business trip. Lollllzzz

  6. Abhik says:

John.. The Dot Com Pho is getting better day by day πŸ™‚

    1. Yes that awesome!! better and better

  7. Neon SRT4 says:

    Awesome Video John.

The Dot Com Pho, which is getting very much better now a days.

  8. Dave Starr says:

Nice lunch, John. I must get up that way soon and join in some day. Very interesting to me 9as an old dude that age statistic you published. The Internet is still predominantly younger folks, but a ‘secret’ that many haven’t realized is, more than 100,000 ‘Baby Boomers’ turn 65 and retire every single _month_ in the US .. I am sure a proportionate number in Canada and all Western countries as well.

Older folks traditionally are not as ‘techy’ as the young, but they have: time, patience, and often more spendable income that 30-somethings who are raising a family.

A worthwhile market to go after in anyone’s book.. They are certainly working out well for me.

I love the ‘Net becuase, business or friendship, age doesn’t mater much here. I’ve had good online friends from 14 to 84 or so, and it’s been fun relating to all of them. Keep on eating Pho!

  9. Zaccha says:

haha…check out the dork with ipad laptop!

  10. zakton says:

Zaggmate seems to be a good protection for the iPad. Pretty useful too as a keyboard (although a bit small).

  11. Mathew Day says:

I need to get me one of those for my iPad. πŸ™‚ Looked like a lot of fun, thanks for the video.

  12. ibnujusup says:

wow.. i kind a like this justin bieber kid…. he is young but so rich…:-)

  13. fas says:

The day in eds life and eds reaction was cool and the sound effect was awesome.

    1. PPC Ian says:

      That part was really funny!

  14. james says:

    Hi John

    Great Video and great opportunity.

But I have to say Justin Bieber is really annoying.

  15. Shlomo Enden says:

Great videos! Enjoy your trip, I wish I could join you.

  16. Man, I’ve been visiting this site too much lately. You know how I figured that out? Well I started reading your posts and as i read them I heard every word in your voice!

Pretty cool that the age difference is that big. I would love to come there and eat with ya all. Also the iPad keyboard thing looks awesome, it’s almost like a laptop when you connect them. πŸ˜›

  17. MonkeyAlan says:

lol, title caused a grin. Good stuff.

  18. I wish I could’ve been there. πŸ™ From all the comment love posted, it sure sounds fun. Maybe I can try to join the next time.

  19. Hi,

Can’t wait for the Hawaii Pho. I’m sure it is going to be one hell of big party…
