Dot Com Pho – Pho Hut Edition

Dot Com Pho took a trip south of the border this week to meet up with the boys from Unique Blog Designs to talk about their new Squeeze Plugin. This is a WordPress plugin that creates email grabbing squeeze pages from any WordPress theme.

The Pho get together was held at Pho Hut in Renton. Think of Pho Hut as the Pizza Hut for Pho. Pho Hut is a favorite hang out of the UDB team and I highly recommend them as well. Their Pho is really good. In addition to great Pho, this edition of Dot Com Pho features the unless iPhone 4 app of the week, a pink drink, Pho menu #10, and how to sync your passwords across the Internet. Enjoy!

  1. Hey, it works on Thesis… Yay!
    Thesis recommended..lol

    1. d3so says:

Though, I don’t recommend thesis because it isn’t sexy. You’d have to be a wizard coder to make it look good.

      1. And every man and his dog on the internet are using it, not really a stand-out theme anymore, SY

        1. d3so says:

          I use it 😉
BUT i’m looking around for themes.
          Any suggestions???

The good thing about thesis is the community and SEO benefits.

I actually had UBD build my blog, custom design. Custom is a great way to go to get what you really want. I give UBD my absolute top recommendation.

          2. I wonder if it’s true that they charge thousands for your own unique design theme though.

          3. Try Atahualpa, it is free, incredibly versatile and very well SEO’ed, SY

      2. @ d3so

Thesis is the awesome theme. Its you who will make this theme sexy … because this one give you freedom to do.

        Look at this … http://www.blogussion.com/

Just signed up with dropbox yesterday. Was wondering what I should put in there. Now I know.

    1. d3so says:

      I surprised that it’s free.

      1. Why surprise …

        WordPress.org
        Wordpress.Com
        Google.Com
        Gmail.com
        Blogger.com
        Adobe

And many other top services are free of cost.

Infact they are in more demand because they are free.

        1. d3so says:

Blogger sucks and anything good from adobe costs a pretty penny.
I can’t argue with google or wordpress.

          1. Why don’t you like blogger? What does wordpress do better than them, just out of curiousity?

          2. Matt himself support wordpress … lolllzz

  3. i was wondering if it worked with thesis i figured it would but it’s nice to know for sure thanks carl

    1. d3so says:

      It works with any theme.

  4. Peter says:

Hi all, I am giving away my 15% coupon code(B7E77) for Squeeze Page WP Plugin. Anyone interested? click here: http://www.squeezetheme.com/101.html
    -Thanks John

    1. d3so says:

You’re smart to leave your affiliate link 😉

      1. John Chow says:

No it wasn’t. He’s lucky I didn’t ban him. I changed the link and if he tries something like that again, I will ban him.

        1. Seems you are in a good mood today, it really takes some beating to leave an affi link on a post like this 😉 SY

          1. Oh, and I just clicked through to his site and noticed that he even scraps / copies your content, have a look at this blog post by Mpl http://www.peterlusinde.com/how-to-connect-your-way-to-the-top it seems oddly familiar, SY

          2. Peter says:

Hi John, I had no idea you don’t allow affiliate links. My apologize! How about my coupon code?
@Irish Garden Home: My blog is still raw, meaning ‘just started’… So why not use some of the content from your mentor and inspiration.. like John Chow?
Am I right or wrong, John?

          3. d3so says:

            WRONG! Be ORIGINAL!

John has his own coupon code he’s sharing.

          4. Peter says:

So are you saying because John has his own coupon then no one else can share their own coupon?
PS With regards to originality, please let John be the judge of it… As my previous comment says ‘Am I right or wrong, John?’

          5. Ed Lau says:

You can share you coupon code all you want…just not on other people’s blogs. It’s just bad etiquette.

          6. John Chow says:

Remove my content from you blog. You are violating my copyright and it’s illegal as well.

          7. Ed Lau says:

And you’d be wrong. Using someone else’s content is just asking to be sued.

        2. d3so says:

lol I was being sarcastic when I wrote that. hence the 😉

          1. This is hard to believe. The P guy is openly stealing and it comes to him as a big surprise that people don’t like it.

I hope you ban him John and go after him legally if he doesn’t remove your content.

  5. d3so says:

    It’s pronounced pha not fur.

    1. John Chow says:

I pronounce it the way I want to! 🙂

      1. d3so says:

just admit you can’t pronounce it right then I’ll leave it be to your own pronunciation . 😉

        1. PPC Ian says:

When you make as much $ as John, you can definitely pronounce it how you want! 🙂

        2. John Chow says:

I know how to pronounce right. I just choose not to to piss people off. 🙂

          1. d3so says:

lol that’s polite of you “;)”

          2. I was really confused about that, because I’d heard other people say” fa” but you said “fur.” Very confusing for someone who never came in contact with it before 🙂

          3. Sooner or later they will be habituate of that.

  6. aroopam says:

this is really interesting…very interesting that it is free

  7. Dean Saliba says:

Glad to see the virus problem has been sorted out John. 🙂

  8. Doh, I should have come. I was stuck stuffing envelopes for my wife though – she has to get out surveys for a research project.

  9. PPC Ian says:

It was fun meeting up with UBD team last time I was in Seattle for SMX Advanced. I give UBD my absolute top recommendation.

  10. Simon Bunker says:

UBD are great to work with they did the design and build for my blog last year.
