After taking a few weeks break, Dot Com Pho is back and this time we headed over to Vera’s Burger Shack to do the first ever hamPHOger edition of Dot Com Pho. Vera’s Burger Shack started as a beach concession in 1977 under the owners Vera and her husband Frank.
As Vera and Frank got older they handed over the day to day operation of the “shack” to their granddaughters, who tried to carry the torch for the next generation. However, the next generation was more interested in making money online than flipping burgers, so in 2000, Gerald Tritt, a family friend, took over the business. In 2001 Gerald and his partner, Noah Cantor, started to franchise Vera’s and today, they have twelve locations in Greater Vancouver with a thirteenth opening at the Vancouver International airport this month.
The burgers at Vera’s are positively huge. Their G Money burger makes the Big Mac look like a tiny bite. The prices are very reasonable for the quality and quantity of food. I ordered the G Money burger, which featured double patty, double fried mushrooms, double cheese and double odds. The resulting monster is bigger than any mouths except maybe a hippo’s.
We had a full house of ten making out to the shack for the hamPHOger feast. It was great to see everyone again and meet a new face as well. For the hamPHOger edition of Dot Com Pho, we have some really big burgers, recalling the Dot Com Go Kart crash with Leo Chiang and something that we’ve never done before. We’re going to show you what really happens at a Dot Com Pho meetup when the camera is not rolling. Enjoy!

One of the most common complaint (or excuse) I hear from potential new bloggers is they don’t know how to install WordPress. Terms like FTP and CPanel are like a foreign language and setting up a database might as well be setting up the space shuttle for a launch. Because of the technology barrier, many would-be bloggers never start their blogs...
