Dot Com Pho – The More, The Happier Edition

After an extended away trip, I’m back in Vancouver for Dot Com Pho. I sent out an invite to meet at Happy Pho yesterday and Vancouver answered the call. We had a total of 17 people showed up to welcome me back. That’s pretty awesome! Anyone is welcome to attend Dot Com Pho. Follow me on Twitter to find the time and location of the next one.

For this very happy Dot Com Pho, we have Sally meeting Lexi for the first time, the deep fried banana, driving with one hand, a $3,000 gadget of the week and a whole lot more. This is also the first Vancouver Dot Com Pho to be filmed with the Panasonic GF2. Enjoy and we’ll see you next week!

  1. Looks like you’ve all had a good time, dot com pho is an interesting event that occurs every weekend right? cool stuff

    1. Abhik says:

      Yes!!! On Saturdays.

    2. PPC Ian says:

Awesome Dot Com Pho! Really great to see such a huge turnout of 17 people, sweet!

      1. I can’t believe there were that man people!

        1. Believe it. It’s true. I was there and I confirm that indeed there were 17 Dot Com Pho attendees last Saturday, April 30, 2011 at the Happy Pho in Vancouver.

      2. d3so says:

Yeah, looks like the Vancouver Pho is growing with or without John.

    3. Deep fried banana? Nice, take a healthy fruit and make it unhealthy by frying it.

      1. Mathew Day says:

Just about anything tastes better when fried, isn’t it?

        1. It’s the fat that makes things seem to taste better. Most of the time the fat or oil burns and that makes it very unhealthy and full of free radicals.

      2. Kevin Kimes says:

Slightly healthier and less tasty version available and very common in the Philippines – the Banana-cue. Barbecued banana on a stick. Readily available for about 20 cents.

    4. Yes this was really fun and we wait to see this post every week.

  2. Mathew Day says:

Had a nice group of people, looked like good times. The video turned out really well with the Panasonic, but wouldn’t mind getting my hands on one of them Cannons either. 😉

    1. The Canon XF 100 can supposedly do what only the really big cameras used to be able to do. I’d like to have it too but it is more than four times as expensive as the Panasonic Lumix GF2.

  3. Abhik says:

    Another cool dot com pho!!
I am growing a desire to cuddle Sally some day 🙂

    1. Yeah in this pho Sally was not in a mood in the begining.

But later she enjoyed the food. Sally have awesome command on ipad John … Isn’t ?

  4. Hey John,

It was great having you and Sally back. I was also thrilled to finally put my hands on the Panasonic Lumix GF2 camera. There’s nothing like holding it and being able to try what it can do, however briefly. I must say I like it.

Here is a video of it and of you in action with it:

    1. Hey … Thanks for giving us link.

As you know John added only 5 to 6 minutes video and we were looking for more.

      Thanks again.

      1. Hey ZK,

You’re most welcome. If you’d like to see more videos from Saturday’s Pho I have 3 more from last Saturday. One is showing the food and my beef with it which was resolved, one is showing Oktoberfest Wolfgang and one is showing Canon XF100 in action.

I will only give the link to the food video from the Pho, since I know you like food. Once you watch it there will be a link at the top of the video to my channel through which you can get to it and watch the rest of the videos.

Here’s the Happy Pho food video:

Interesting camera. If my blog increases monetarily I may be looking to upgrade from my handy dandy Sony Cybershot. Thx for the article. Have a blessed day.

  6. fas says:

Looks awesome the video quality and that camera is BBC approved, wooaa…

    1. No doubt that BBC have its own name and brand but what is the role of it on approving any camera.

  7. Bob Roberto says:

That is awesome John. How would you like to come to the Philippines to be the guest speaker in one of our iBlog summit event next year? Cool if you could, but I don’t know how much would it cost.

    1. Simply add FREE everything …. Such as flight,, accomodation, travel around philipinnes and reward in form of mac book pro.

Is that enough John …. Or I missed something …

I really want a GF2 now. Already was thinking about it, seeing your recent photos have convinced me, it will be my next camera. If you happen to read this very late comment, perhaps you can mention if you’ve tried different lenses with it yet?
