Dot Com Pho – The Return Edition

After over a month away, I am back in Vancouver for another episode of Dot Com Pho. As usual, Dot Com Pho Vancouver happened at Happy Pho and I got to tell you, Brian the owner sure was happy to see me. We had a full table of nine people attend the weekly Pho get together and for the first time in Dot Com Pho history, Ed Lau was the first one to show up!

In addition to the normal Dot Com video, this edition of Dot Com Pho featured the first ever Dot Com movie trailer. We filmed it by following the storyboard feature found in iMovie 11. The main Dot Com Pho video featured the gadget of the week, the correct way to pronounce Pho, Michael Kwan on a jet ski, baby bowling and a whole lot more. Dot Com Pho happens every Saturday at 12:30 in the afternoon. Everyone is welcome to join. Follow me on Twitter to find the location of the next one.

It’s pronounced fuh. It comes from the French word for fire. The french dish pot-au-feu (translates into pot with fire) was a stew that contained loads of meat with vegetables. The Vietnamese Took the idea of boiling meats with vegetables and took the stock and poured it over noodles. So there you have pho (pronounced fuh)

    1. Ed Lau says:

I’ve been telling John forever that he pronounces it wrong.

      1. How do you get fur out of pho? Fur + pho = ?

      2. PPC Ian says:

“It’s not fur, fur is what animals have!” – Now that was a funny quote. 🙂

    2. Michael Kwan says:

Leave it up to our resident culinary expert to settle this once and for all. I knew of the right pronunciation, but I didn’t know the origin story. Thanks Aaron. If you ever get a Saturday off, you need to come by for another DCP with us.

      1. John Chow says:

We already know how to say when we asked Lan a long time ago. We just never brother to use it correctly. :p

        1. Robin Gupta says:

So from now onwards you are going to use the correct one or still not bother to say it correctly 🙂

      2. Aaron Koo says:

I can make it this Saturday. In fact I WILL make it this Saturday.

  2. He must consume a lot of MSG…..

    1. Abhik says:

      What does that do!!?

      1. Michael Kwan says:

        MSG makes me S-M-R-T. 😉

        1. Stephen says:

          MSG = Michael’s Secret…’gredient? LOL!

  3. trungduc says:

  4. Very nice trailer. Those Chinese food seems very delicious, I want to have a try! 🙂

    1. Abhik says:

Chinese foods are famous all over the world.
I wanna thank the inventor of those 2 minutes noodles. 🙂

      1. billg says:

Vietnamese, not Chinese. Vietnamese cuisine is a delicious fusion of Asian and French, and is less fatty and more complex than Chinese food.

        1. @billg, You sure those are Vietnamese food? We might need to request John to make clear for us. lol 🙂

  5. Gary says:

How fitting John replaced the trailer in iMovie that was meant for a ‘chick flick’ and replaced it with dudes–being you guys. hehe 😉

Also, who the heck is “Steven” Fung? LOL!

    1. Stephen says:

      Must be my cousin.

    2. John Chow says:

“Steven” was there when I was typing it out and he saw the trailer before it went live. 🙂

      1. Stephen says:

I saw the back of your screen so I saw nothing!

  7. fas says:

This weeks pho was boring. Where has the app of the week gone?

    1. John Chow says:

We didn’t have one other than the Washington Post app and that sucked.

  8. Fernando says:

It’s pretty funny the way it ends! John Chow directed it, casted it, edited it! 🙂

  9. PPC Ian says:

The trailer is awesome! Nice work!

  10. Harshad says:
