Dot Com Pho – WhiteSmoke Edition

Dot Com Pho doubled in size this week thanks to the return of Travis Ketchum and new attendee, Brandon Na of Seattle Organic SEO. Once again, we met at Pho Thanh Vi in the International District to discuss the really important stuff in life and film the unimportant stuff.

For this edition of Dot Com Pho we draw the winner of the WhiteSmoke contest. Congratulations go out to Stuart Conover for winning it. Please keep in mind that I was kidding about the things I said about you in the video. The next Dot Com contest will be for tickets to Blog World Expo in New York. Keep an eye out for that one!

I used my trusty Panasonic GF2 with the 14mm f/2.5 lens to film Dot Com Pho and its video quality continues to astonish me. iMovie ’11 was used for the editing. Enjoy this episode.

    1. Abhik says:

Congratulations to Stuart from me too 🙂

    2. White Smoke, hmm, don’t know if I really need a grammar checker any longer.

  2. It should of been me.

    1. John Chow says:

It should have, but it wasn’t. 😛

      1. Abhik says:

May be someday my comment will be tapped 😀

    2. everyone after a contest will say the same but sadly, there is just on winner in every draw or contest. 😛

      1. Like in the song “The Winner Takes it All” there can be only one winner when it comes to getting the first prize.

But as a consolation it’s good to know that in many ways everyone who participastes in a contest is a winner in that they benefit from being there and learning something.

        1. PPC Ian says:

I like your thought process, Email List Building. Everyone is a winner, especially if they have a positive attitude like yourself!

      2. That’s the way contests work, just one winner.

    3. There can only be a single winner.

      1. Work online says:

Yes i am completely agree with you,and i like chicken wings rule.

  3. Kirk Taylor says:

Blog World would be great. It would be my first time! Winning tickets would create an obligation on my part to go! (Great excuse for my wife!)

    1. Blog World Expo would be great but even better if the prize included not only the tickets but the airfare and the whole package needed to attend like the hotel etc.

I wonder if John will ever have such a prize.

      1. PPC Ian says:

That would be truly amazing! Airfare and hotel can be quite expensive to NY, that’s why I’m waiting for Blog World Las Vegas! However, it hotel and airfare were included, that would be a different story!

The photos are improving drastically all the time.

    1. When you say that, it may imply that there was a point in time when the photos weren’t any good.

As far as I know the photos on this blog have been good since the beginning. Now they are getting even better since John started to use his new favorite Panasonic camera.

    2. They’ve always looked pretty good to me.

  5. Hi Stuart. Congratulation for the wining the whitesmoke license!! another chicken wings photo! yummy!

  6. John Rampton says:

First time I have heard of WhiteSmoke….looks like a good piece of software. Congrats to the winner.

    1. White Smoke had been around for a few years.

  8. guru says:

Did you do this with the Panasonic Camera?

    1. John Chow says:

Why don’t you watch the video and find out.

  9. guru says:

My bad, I see it was the Panasonic. How much was it?

    1. Hi Guru John post it already the price of Panasonic. You can try to search on John blog.

  10. guru says:

My bad, I see it was the Panasonic. The shots are outstanding!!

    1. Hey guru,

Being a guru why are you repeating “my bad” ? John has given the price of the camera in his previous posts. Close to $700. When you say the shots are outstanding that refers to John’s skill as much as the part that the camera plays.

  11. John Rampton says:

I still need to get one of those cameras!

    1. Go get it, it will cost you $700.

  12. Well that is absolutely (and unexpected!) Thanks so much!

    1. I wonder if it would have been useful there to point out that grammar wise my response wasn’t at all typed correctly…. 😉

      1. I guess you can use White Smoke then.

  13. Hey John,

I also appreciate very much your posting of Michael’s video from the Vancouver Pho. I wasn’t able to make it there this time so at least the video shows partly what I missed.

  14. Work online says:

Blog World would be great although Blog is great.

    1. PPC Ian says:

I do not understand what this comment means? Work online, can you please clarify what you’re saying?

    2. Now there’s a candidate for White Smoke if I ever saw one.
