Dot Com Pho – Who Ate My Blog Edition

On this edition of Dot Com Pho, we try to figure out who or what is eating Ed Lau’s new food blog. For some reason, it gets eaten everyday and he has to reinstall it. Very strange indeed. If you know what might be causing this, give Ed a shout so he can stop pulling his hair out.

Also in this episode, we draw the winners of the Making Money with Facebook DVD by Shoemoney System and discuss how hard it is to buy an iPhone vs. any other phone. This will be my second last Dot Com Pho in Vancouver. Hopefully, everyone will come out next week for my final Vancouver Dot Com Pho.

  1. Ed Lau says:

Seriously, why can’t I buy an iPhone 4 yet? I’d understand if they were limited run but let’s the honest here, there will be millions upon millions of these things sold. WHY NOT JUST MAKE MORE OF THEM INITIALLY, DAMMIT!?

    1. Dino Vedo says:

hahah D3so finally won something!! Congrats! :p

      1. PPC Ian says:

Yeah! That’s awesome! Congrats to D3so!

        1. Hey I think we should also congratulate to

          Insurance Izzy

          She also won …

        2. Congrats to D3so and the first winner Insurance Izzy.

          I’m glad you both won.

          1. Congratulation to insurance Izzy and D3so. You are lucky guys.. Hope i can win some useful making money DVD in the future.. XD

Oh by the way Ed, you gotta change all the passwords in your blog including the mysql password. If still happening you gotta scan your computer with anti malware.. maybe there is key logger inside and you never know it was there.

    2. Jason says:

That is strange that your theme keeps resetting itself to the default. I found this article on it http://jasonvanorden.com/wordpress-changes-back-to-default

One commentator said that the way she got rid of the problem was by upgrading WordPress to the latest release. That might help!

    3. Gary says:

Just buy from Apple.ca! Unlocked units have been available since launch day!

*slowly pets my sweet, sweet, iPhone 4*

      1. Your blog on IPhone is really doing great,

    4. d3so says:

Yeah, I want an iPhone 4 as well. But I’m waiting for the white version. There’s no release date yet damn!!!

      1. I’d like a red one. My first ever mobile phone was red. Do they make a red model? I want something to go with my eyes 😉

      2. Congrats on winning something d3so…maybe john will also give you that autographed book you keep asking him for 🙂

      3. you wanting to go fancy with your iPhone 4 huh! hmmm…kinda sounds like that phrase can be in a hip hop song

    5. Michael Kwan says:

Build up hype with a false sense of scarcity?

      1. PPC Ian says:

That’s what it seems like to me! Walked into Apple store this weekend (Bay Area, CA) and they had no shortage of iPhones. Got my iPhone 4 within a few minutes! Great phone, especially because I upgraded from 3G.

        1. I keep forgetting your in SF Ian. I just moved from there to San Mateo last weekend…I must say the weather is sooooo much warmer. I love it 🙂

    6. Michael says:

Great point, but I think from a business standpoint what they are doing makes sense. Create more buzz, do the whole Verizon thing to hit the news, and then make it a limited release thing, so when you hold one in your hand for the first time, it feels like you are holding the Baby Jesus. You will want to buy it more and for a higher price. By the way, Ed, good luck with your dilemma.

    7. Your new blog is rocking but there is no Indian Food in your category.

You should try Indian food as well … this is really spicy and you will got huge recipes.

  2. Great imagination about iPhone …

  3. Dino Vedo says:

Your second last one!?!? You should do something amazing for your last one!! 😉

  4. Where is D3So …

Boy now you are famous … even on video John accepted it that finally you won something.

    1. d3so says:

lol yeah I actually won something! YES!!! I would’ve ran around my house screaming if I won an ipad. 😉

      1. Admit it d3so, you ran around your house anyway…you didn’t need to win the ipad 🙂

    2. Michael Kwan says:

I’m actually kind of amazed that he hasn’t already posted a half dozen comments on this post. Heh.

      1. Yes, d3so is both prolific and a winner. We should all admire him for his perseverance………
        Congratulations d3so 🙂

      2. d3so says:

You refferring to me? I have self control 😉

  5. Hi John,

Wonderful imagination about iphone? Like Ed Lau said, if you know it will sell like hot cakes in the first place, why don’t you make millions in the first place?

    1. Marius says:

because you don’t want to sell millions of phones with a ‘death grip’ problem. they’re probably inventing a new way to hold the iPhone – that could take some time – before they ship the next million of iPhones

  6. krillz says:

Tell ed to check his backup and restore settings on the webhost account, sounds to me that he has set it to restore to default, or a set date after each day.

    1. d3so says:

I never dealt with this before. Maybe upgrading might help if he hasn’t already. It’s a possibility he’s been hacked.

  7. I just checked out Ed’s new blog………
    How’s this for a quote:

“Brian, Adarsh and Rasheed got the prime rib burger which was massive. None of the three really finished what was on the plate.”

Perhaps the system is so disgusted by the content that it performs an electronic vomit. 😉

  8. Dean Saliba says:

I didn’t even enter the competition but I was half hoping my comment would pop up on the spin. Yes I know I’m sad. lol

  9. Hey Ed your new blog is really looking nice and beautiful …

But why don’t you add Indian food at there as well

    1. It made me feel quite unwell 🙁

  10. Bluehost? I hosted my sites with them and they were offline a couple of times a month. I really wasn’t satisfied with their product and their customer service.

  11. OK, that video has made me incredibly hungry. I need to go and east something.

BTW, I only JUST managed to get an iPhone 3GS here in Spain….it may be a long wait for the 4.

    1. Yes we should see Pho video when we were not feeling to eat.

      Always nice and delicious food.

      1. I tried pho for the first time this weekend. Now I understand what everyone was raving about 🙂

        1. John Chow says:

Your DVD is on the way!

          1. Did not hear anything from Insurance izzy … she is not adding comments as well.

  12. “second last Dot Com Pho in Vancouver.” Where are you going to John? SY

  13. Michael says:

Wow, very nice. Just like you, John, he posts pictures of his dinner!

(By the way, thanks for everything. I’m a long time visitor, first time commenter. I’m going back into your archives for a lot of traffic building posts. I am finally trying to boost traffic to and build a couple blogs I started but never did anything sufficient with.)

    1. Just surf the John Chow blog and I am sure you will get more and more information and knowledge.

  14. Oh awesome! Thanks John! Can’t wait to get the DVD and watch it!

    1. Congratulation Izzy!

      1. And we would love to read your review on it.

  15. dinnerware says:

Uh oh, Ed must have pissed someone off! Hope he gets it sorted out…..must be frustrating!

    1. LOL…sounds like your instigating ZK.

  16. Ed now your blog is looking ok …

So tell me when you are going to add Indian food, photos and restaurant name.
