Dot Com Shanghai – Missing Pho Edition

written by John Chow on May 17, 2008

How to make $593 in less than one hour

Normally, today would be the day I meet up with the other members of the Dot Com crew for the weekly Dot Com Pho get together. However, since I’m in Shanghai and they’re back in Richmond, we’re going to be doing a Dot Com head to head. While the Richmond crew is doing their normal Dot Com Pho, I’ve decided, in the spirit of oneupmanship, to do a Dot Com Shanghai Spring.

Attending Dot Com Shanghai were myself, Sarah, Sally, my mom and a couple we met at the Grand Hyatt Shanghai. For the first edition of Dot Com Shanghai, we have to get rich is glorious, lobster disrespecting, root of all evil, eaten alive and a whole lot more. Let see the Richmond Dot Com Pho crew top this!

That wasn’t Dot Com anything… you didn’t talk about technology, the internet… nothing. You just went out to eat! Boring!!

Dot Com Pho – John Chow Free Edition contains plenty of tech and even a cameo by a cast member of Battlestar Galactica ;)

Paul Piotrowski May 17, 2008 at 4:50 pm

Looking at seafood displayed like that grosses me out already, but having the antennas move is nasty…

I definitely wouldn’t order that meal myself.

dave May 17, 2008 at 5:28 pm

Looks fantastic, can’t beat the still moving part for freshness…

MoneyNing May 17, 2008 at 5:32 pm

Haha this meal looks great. Maybe you start a monthly “Dot Com somewhere in the world”

Bob May 17, 2008 at 5:50 pm

  :???:
John.. Hope you’re not reborn as a Lobster.

Stephen May 17, 2008 at 8:03 pm

He’ll be reborn as a Panda. It will take everything he’s got to avoid his evil nature because if he gives in, he’d end up killing himself

Stephen May 17, 2008 at 6:47 pm

Thiago Prado May 17, 2008 at 10:59 pm

I don’t why but I don’t like this type of food at all… have fun over there!

AJ May 18, 2008 at 12:59 am

John, I’m great fan of Chinese food, next to Indian food, but don’t you think eating a lobster while it’s still alive kind of cruel. I know the animal is going through tremendous pain. But i see the evilness

Paul B May 19, 2008 at 7:56 am

I thought it was in ice to numb the pain. Besides it was a big lobster, I’m sure he had a long and happy life before meeting John.

AJ May 18, 2008 at 1:12 am

John, im a great fan of food too, but don’t you think that lobster was in tremendous pain? I can see ur evilness

Mike Huang May 18, 2008 at 1:24 am

That lobster dish really is unique. I have never heard of a lobster dish where the lobster is kept alive. That really is the root of all evil. BTW, where did you meet the couple? :P

Majo May 18, 2008 at 1:26 am

Yuck! Talk about being evil… I don’t know which is the lesser of two evils; throwing rocks at innocent panda’s or eating live lobsters!

Cronus May 18, 2008 at 1:52 pm

I don’t know if I would be willing to eat anything that can still fight back when I pick at it. Perhaps next time you should try cooking your food? lol

Conservatives and Normals May 18, 2008 at 5:25 pm

Man, that looked really good. However, if you like some good old US pork barbecue ribs… Check out my latest post Grilling With the “Master” of the Grill I don’t think you can top these ribs John.
