Dot Com Tandoori At Tandoori Kona

written by John Chow on August 18, 2007

How to make $593 in less than one hour

tandoori3.jpg

Normally, Saturday is Dot Com Pho day. However, we like to mix it up once in awhile (if only to have something else to write about) so for today’s edition of the Dot Com get together, we headed off to Tandoori Kona at 11700 Cambie Road in Richmond for our first ever Dot Com Tandoori.

With 16 people attending, this was our biggest Dot Com get together to date. Like the last Dot Com Dim Sum, Dot Com Tandoori was sponsored by our friends at BlueFur web hosting. If you need web hosting, give BlueFur a shout. Use coupon code JohnChowRock for 15% of any services.

Attending this week’s East Indian adventure was (from right to left) yours truly, Matthew and his dad Rainer, Jen from Jentekk Web Solutions, Gary Jone and his wife Lisa from Blue Fur, Ed Lau, Stephen Fung, Michael Kwan, Tejpal from 1234Pens.com, Erin Berringer from Newport Business Media, Greg Morgan and his friend Danny. Cut off from the picture was my mom, Sally and Sarah.

The food at Tandoori Kona was very good. They had some of the best tasting Nan I’ve ever sampled and their butter chicken was tender and creamy. The same goes for the Mango Lassi. The restaurant is very small but the owner did a great job accommodating our large group. If our Dot Com lunch group continues to grow, we’ll be booking out entire restaurants soon!

How Big Is Your Package?

tandoori5.jpg

Our sponsor for Dot Com Tandoori, BlueFur, unveiled their new T-shirt which ask, “How big is your package?” Can you tell who has the biggest package?

tandoori6.jpg

While we don’t know who has the biggest package, we all concluded that Micheal Kwan had the smallest. Whatever size package you’re looking for, BlueFur can take care of you. That is, if you’re looking for a web hosting package.

mason August 18, 2007 at 11:19 pm

I wonder if they offer shirts like these through valleyshwag.

Hamilton Ontario Web Design August 19, 2007 at 2:06 am

Isn’t CafePress notorious for lousy merchandise quality?

Blogging Experiment August 19, 2007 at 6:57 pm

I don’t think so… at least not anymore. I’ve ordered a few shirts from them and not had any complaints.

WizCoder August 18, 2007 at 7:37 pm

Nice T. I should get one myself.

Jeff Kee August 18, 2007 at 7:47 pm

DARN I was in Richmond this afternoon on some business.. I would have gone if I had known of it!

Click Input August 18, 2007 at 8:35 pm

Looks all good – btw do you live in Canada or Singapore John, from what I’ve gathered you spend time in both places?

John Chow August 18, 2007 at 8:43 pm

Currently in Canada.

Click Input August 22, 2007 at 10:55 am

I don’t know why the pics of the food remind me so much of Singapore… maybe the awesome Indian food I had there.

Blogging For Begginers August 18, 2007 at 8:42 pm

Nice food

Sly from Slyvisions.com August 18, 2007 at 8:43 pm

Damn John! More food! You really are living the life aren’t you.

Vadym August 18, 2007 at 8:52 pm

There’s a nice restaurant near Metrotown.

Fish On Rice, kind of hard to find entrance, but the food is amazingly good.

All you can eat for $12, and I cant stress it enough, the food is good.

Give it a try.

Colin Klinkert August 18, 2007 at 8:54 pm

Awesome get together John, you guys look like you had a great time!

angad August 18, 2007 at 11:45 pm

Daru te Murga

Gdog August 18, 2007 at 11:58 pm

Wow, that food looks amazing! There was one Nepalese place in Seoul that had some of the best butter chicken I’ve ever had. I will have to give this place a try! Gdog is currently in Ricemond!! :)

Geedos August 19, 2007 at 12:07 am

I haven’t had a decent Indian meal in ages! When I lived in Britain it was a regular weekly event but over here in Australia the Indian’s a bit different.

That looks absolutely yummy though! I’m getting hungry just looking at the pictures!

Simon's Money Notes August 24, 2007 at 5:34 am

Indian food is the best, I’m so glad that I have an Indian wife, its a real treat

Bozdemir August 19, 2007 at 12:36 am

Terra Andersen August 22, 2007 at 5:15 am

I know, same here… it seems Canada is the place to be for good food! *=)

Christopher August 19, 2007 at 1:25 am

So what is with all of the food articles?
I thought this was a blog about making money.

John Chow August 19, 2007 at 10:34 am

You thought wrong.

Christopher August 19, 2007 at 1:28 am

I’m confused by the food articles.

Blogging Experiment August 19, 2007 at 6:55 pm

He does these on a fairly regular basis.

Geedos August 20, 2007 at 4:17 am

>The food in the pix is actually north indian. (really tasty ofcourse)

And the mango lassi is actually called
Aamrus (aam=mango)

Geedos August 19, 2007 at 4:17 am

Orange juice in a Tiger beer glass!

What a waste!

Name August 19, 2007 at 5:01 am

That’s not orange juice, its a mango lassi (kind of like an Asian smoothie).

Geedos August 20, 2007 at 4:18 am

Never had mango lassi – sounds good though so will have to keep an eye out for it.

It’s still not Tiger Beer though!

johnko5057 August 19, 2007 at 5:55 am

Yup waste :!: :!:

Just Loving Life August 19, 2007 at 4:31 am

Asela de Saram August 20, 2007 at 12:40 am

Wow looks really good! Indian food happens to be one of my favorites… Yummy!

Vinayak August 20, 2007 at 6:44 am

Hey that’s Indian Name and Indian Food  . “Tandoori Kona”. Tandoori is actually Tandoor where the Chapatis are made like Naan (second image.) and Kona means the Corner. And Sardarji Sitting with white turban on head. Great!!!!!!!

Making The Money August 20, 2007 at 7:46 am

Looks nice but I’m a bit confused, why all the orange juice and no beer. I thought Beer was essential with Indian food?

Vinayak August 21, 2007 at 11:22 am

Well at many places in India beer is not even touched.

jvalert News August 20, 2007 at 5:40 pm

The food looks so good! I think I need to talk Ken McArthur into doing a jvAlert Live in your neck of the woods so we can get some of that cooking for the meals…

I think Internet Marketing is one of the few businesses that can unite people a whole ocean away because we are doing similar things. We can always learn from our compatriots all over the world.

Thanks for a great place to learn and have fun with a lot of great marketers!

Have an amazing day!
