Evil Blog Contest - Win A Microsoft Zune

Some of you may recall the 30GB Microsoft Zune I won at the 2007 Affiliate Networking Dinner. Since winning the MP3 and video player, I have used it a grand total of zero hours. As a matter of fact, it’s still in the box. I figure since I don’t use it, I might as well give it away with another evil blog contest.
To enter the Win a Microsoft Zune contest, just make a post in your blog about it. Link to this blog’s home page using the anchor test “make money on the internet” and link to this blog post. Here’s an example of what I want.
John Chow dot Com, a blog that helps you make money on the internet, is giving away a Microsoft Zune. To enter, all you have to do is write about it. This is my entry. Now give me my Zune!
OK, that was a bad example but you get the idea. Add as much information as you want - just make sure you follow the linking rules. The post must be by itself and cannot be added to any other post. This contest is open to everyone. If you have blog, you can enter. It doesn’t matter where you are or what language your blog is in.
According to my TTZ Media price index, this prize is worth about $250.00 so it’s definitely worth entering.
After you complete your entry, send me an email with the URL to your post. Once I confirm the post meets the entry requirements, I’ll print out your email and add in to the draw bucket. At the end of this month, I’ll draw one name from the bucket and that blogger will be the proud owner of a brand new 30GB Microsoft Zune!
Enter now and Good luck!

great way to generate backlinks to you with the anchor text MAKE MONEY ONLINE.
My SEO instincts tell me this is awesome!
Reply to this commenti think your SEO instincts are right… hey you wouldn’t happen to have a spidey sense too would ya?
Reply to this commentNo if I had that I’d be jumping from building to building hanging onto thin white threads to save my ass.
thank god I don’t!
Reply to this commentSEO Sense is tingling?
Reply to this commentWhateva.. that Zune is mine!
Reply to this commentWhen you’re starting to get SEO instincts it’s surely time to take a (long, very long) break from blogging mate
Reply to this commentI disagree, that’s the time to get blogging more
Reply to this commentEh. I get laid sometimes. It’s all good.
Reply to this commentThe blogosphere is SEO crazy right now. I posted a list of good SEO related stuff today. John’s always up to something evil.

Reply to this commentSooner or later Google will figure a way to crack down on this kind of thing… lets hope its not to late!
Reply to this commentDuh!
Reply to this commentApparently Google bombing didn’t die entirely
Reply to this commentIt’s obviously hard to keep track of it…
Reply to this commentAs long as you have the same anchor text on the page it is not google bombing
Reply to this commentInteresting, I never heard that..
Reply to this commentI would still classify it as a Google bomb myself *shrug*
Reply to this commentBombs away!
Reply to this commentMine field
Reply to this commentIt is only a google bomb if the page that the anchor links to has nothing to do with the anchor text.
Reply to this commentLike George Bush ranking #1 for the term ‘failure’
Reply to this commentWell, I wouldn’t say that the two are unrelated…
Reply to this commentJohn, great contest yet again. I’ve jumped in as my wife has said she wants one of these and it would save me from having to buy one.
Reply to this commentI’m happy with my Video ipod
Reply to this commentWhat he said.
Reply to this commentWe both have an ipod shuffle and haven’t been very happy with it, so I am hesitant to buy a video ipod. Although I will be getting a new ipod at a conference I am attending in May.
Reply to this commentGosh John You’re so evil! But I will put up with it if it wins me a free Zune. You truly have such a huge advantage for getting search engine placement, because you have so many people working for you, for free or for a zune! Your potential on the internet just makes me go crazy.

Reply to this commentThe John Chow machine is quite impressive as he has built a large following and his readers understand the value of links from his site. I think John could give away just about anything and have a successful promotion.
Meanwhile I’ve been trying to give away a free version of TaxCut on my site and cannot get any interest from my readers. I’ve still got a lot to learn.
Reply to this commentYou need to have a large audience before you start doing this sort of thing. Also, you need a good prize, I don’t think too many people are going to get excited about a copy of TaxCut….
Reply to this commentWhat about 10,000 free hours on AOL?
Reply to this commentTrue but considering that my site is focused on personal finance, the prize is relevant to the content. I’m still learning so the next time I will do a better job.
Reply to this commentMy New Choice - How many people have you got coming to your blog? I think Dave is right, you need to have a large audience before many people enter. Also, even though John might get 100 entries, he has 4000 people signed up to rss - so that is only 2.5% take up rate.
Reply to this commentI’m actually surprised this technique is working so well for him.
Reply to this commentWhy? its not very surprising really, infact its pretty ovbious!
Reply to this commentwow…another contest…and…with that anchor text…more traffic for you!!! And…since you won the zune…not cost for you!! That is the way to do it!!!
Reply to this commentI can’t resist a chance to win a new gadget.
Reply to this commentI can resist the temptation
Reply to this commentI’m not sure I even want a Zune…I mean, I have four iPods…
Reply to this commentI’m with you ED, I barely use my ipod as it is
Reply to this commentIf you have four iPod, then you must have a Zune!
Reply to this commentI can’t support the evil empire!
(Microsoft, not John Chow, he has my support!)
Reply to this commentWait, wait…did you say FOUR iPods? WTF???
Reply to this commentEd, I think you need to give one away in your own contest.
Reply to this commentOne?? Give away all 4!
Reply to this commentoh boy oh boy oh boy another evil
contest for us all….
Reply to this commentAm I eligible?
Reply to this commentYou can write a post about it but you won’t win.
Reply to this commentHAHAH!

Reply to this commentIs it just me, or is John losing his touch?? I mean, just look at the pic… he isn’t even smiling! Maybe he secretly wants to keep the Zune!
Reply to this commentHe looks pretty evil in that pic
Reply to this commentWhen I first read about the Zune project I knew right away Microsoft was up to something good.
Reply to this commentAnother excellent SEO example, so evil … this is developing into google world domination.
Reply to this commentGoogle would never allow it to happen. They may be the only beings on this earth that are more evil than John. Maybe.
Reply to this commentThis isn’t really anything new when it comes to SEO, just good leverage of his existing traffic base.
However, he does it expertly, as I have said before
Reply to this commentA $250 Zune that you don’t even use is a pretty small price to pay to go straight to the tip of Google for a competetive phrase… the rich get richer!
Reply to this commentEVIL! EVIL! EVIL!
Reply to this commentEVILEST

Reply to this commentJohn if we pay for the post, like on a paid bloggin g service would you consider the person who submitted the blog the winner or the owner of the blog?
