Fast and Reliable Web Hosting for Cheap

Before you can even get started with your professional blogging or affiliate marketing career, it’s probably a good idea to get your own website first. That involves registering your own domain name, but it also means finding the appropriate web hosting provider. And a penny saved is a penny earned.

If you’re looking to spend as little as possible on a reliable web host, one option to consider is CP Web Hosting. As we make our way through today’s review, we’ll take a brief look at the company history, how cheap is cheap, and what other hosting options are available through this provider.

A Quick Introduction to CP Web Hosting

There’s no denying it. The primary selling point for CP Web Hosting is that they aim to provide cheap web hosting. That said, they are also dedicated to providing a good value and great service, despite the remarkably cheap price points. They want to give you “superior customer service, 100% uptime, and many unique features that you will not find anywhere else.”

CP Web Hosting has been in business since 1996, but the current owners have really grown the company since they acquired in 2001. At the time, they had only five dedicated servers and about 30 clients. Today, CP Web Hosting has over 30 servers and in excess of 5000 clients. That’s some serious growth, especially when you realize how competitive the web hosting industry can be.

How Cheap Is Cheap?

Pretty darn cheap if you ask me.

Fast and Reliable Web Hosting for Cheap?

The current promotion has a web hosting plan for just $17.40. That’s per year, not per month. When you consider that the typical “big” host has plans starting at $5-$8 per month ($60-$96 per year), that represents some huge savings.

And even at the $17.40/year ($1.45/month) price, CP is able to provide you with unlimited storage and unlimited e-mail. When I went through the shopping cart process, I discovered that this also allows for up to 10 domains. That’s the same as the “Indivdual Hosting” [sic] mentioned on the front page of the site, but you get unlimited bandwidth and storage when you pay for a year in advance.

Other Selling Points

Assuming that you do indeed get fast and reliable web hosting at that price, what else do you need? Well, CP Web Hosting wants to go just a touch further. You get a free script installer for such popular products as WordPress, Joomla, Drupal, phpBB, and Zen cart. They also provide a free site builder, free instant setup, and website transfer “assistrance” [sic].

This may or may not reflect on the reliability of the service, but I would recommend that the owners of CP Web Hosting hire someone to proofread or re-write their website copy. It’s not terrible, but there are several spelling mistakes throughout the text. There are also several broken image links that need to be fixed.

Reseller Hosting and Dedicated Servers

The cheap shared hosting plan is obviously the star at CP Web Hosting, but they also offer other hosting products too.

Fast and Reliable Web Hosting for Cheap?

The reseller plans are very reasonably priced, starting at just $24.95 a month. That allows for up to 10 Cpanel accounts, up to 20GB of disk space, and up to 30GB of bandwidth. If you are a web designer or consultant, getting a smaller reseller hosting plan can be a great way to supplement your income. Use it with your clients as an upsell product.

Fast and Reliable Web Hosting for Cheap?

If shared hosting doesn’t satisfy your needs, CP also has unmanaged dedicated servers. They’re all $170 per month, so it’s just up to you decide what kind of package you would like. They range from a Pentium 4 3.00GHz to a couple of dual core Atom CPU choices.

Go Ahead and Give Them a Try

I’m always hesitant about web hosting providers who say that they give you unlimited storage and unlimited bandwidth, because that is simply not realistic. However, if you are able to get “virtually” unlimited storage and bandwidth that is reliable and reasonably fast, you really have little reason to complain. And at less than $20 a year, you’re getting quite the bargain.

The good news is that even if you find that the service isn’t up to your standards, you can ask for your money back in the first 30 days, no questions asked. That’s confidence and, considering that CP Web Hosting has been around for over a decade, that has to say something about their business model and customer satisfaction, right?

Do you have any VPS hosting provider names? I need to move to a VPS plan and I need the basic plan. But for a basic vps plan they are not offering cpanel. What to do? Please suggest me.

Aman July 11, 2011 at 2:08 am

Hostgator is best among any other vpn n web hosting provider. Most of the top websites are running on hostgator , they provide you with excellent service n fast loading of your website or blog which is very essetials for the life of your blog or website …

Jobs In Nigeria July 16, 2011 at 5:45 pm

Hostgator is surely the best

Aman July 11, 2011 at 2:13 am

For moving to vpn you can also try namecheap.com , they also have excellent service

kishore July 11, 2011 at 7:05 am

I have been on hostican for a couple of years, they are also offering vps plans. Relatively hostican plans are somewhat higher in technical aspects and I am happy with hostican. But as of now I am on Tera hosting plan so no idea about the hostican vps experience. Do you know anything about the Hostican vps service? Shall I continue with Hostican?

Sara@WebLoverz July 24, 2011 at 11:50 am

Yes namecheap.com is also going very well…

Property Marbella July 11, 2011 at 12:43 am

Really a affordable web hosting, I have to take a closer and deeper in what they can do more for my blogs and web pages.

Kevin Kimes July 15, 2011 at 1:49 am

I wouldn’t sign up for this host. The specs on their dedicated boxes are pretty weak, and don’t include 24/7 tech support!

I still recommend Liquid Web and their cloud based Storm on Demand service. Every time I’ve needed help, they respond very quickly. And I’m paying less than half per month for nearly double the power of CP’s dedicated boxes.

Jobs In Nigeria July 16, 2011 at 5:54 pm

It surely should be given α̲̅ try, that’s saving on some dollars

Andrea @ Asbestos Lawsuit July 11, 2011 at 2:05 am

When I first read your title I thought for sure you were going to promote Hostgator — so glad you didn’t!

Finding good hosting is a trying deal. I am always on the lookout since I like to have one ready to go to when one of the 5 different web hosts I use starts “acting up.”

The plans above look good and affordable. Thanks

Kevin Kimes July 15, 2011 at 1:53 am

I thought the same thing, “another hostgator post?” heheh. Although newcomers are better off signing up with hostgator than this, in my opinion.

Jobs In Nigeria July 16, 2011 at 5:52 pm

But you will agree with ♍e that hostgator is the best

Paul B July 11, 2011 at 2:20 am

I use a small UK web host similar to this and they have always outperformed Bluehost, Midphase and Hostgator. For example they have a 256 MB PHP memory limit. That walks all over Hostgator in terms of performance, especially with Wordpress getting ever more hungry for resources.. Support is fine and their servers never go down – mainly because they’re not cramming hundreds of clients on one box.

The only trouble is when you find a good one of these small providers is you never want to share the details in case it spoils it :) I’ll definitely give these guys a go as well, never know when you’ll find another gem.

Steve Hall July 11, 2011 at 3:57 am

That’s a pretty good deal for hosting. I have used Hostgator and Bluehost and haven’t had any dramas with them, but now that I am getting a few sites up and running I am tempted to try this out and see how it goes.

Mate Hegedus July 11, 2011 at 3:58 am

That’s cool!

I actually run my own hosting company which provide Free Unlimited Web Hosting With No Ads

I have a great deal with a big web hosting company which allows me to do this. You guys should check it out. It has Unlimited bandwidth, disc space, emails, mysql databases etc.

I have been working very hard on it and I couldn’t be more pleased with the result. Check it out!

Sara@WebLoverz July 24, 2011 at 11:56 am

Thats good..i will try that….Controll panel is looking good…

How to make money with facebook July 11, 2011 at 5:27 am

This is just perfect for my new blog! I have been meaning to find ways on how I can grab or create eye-candy twitter widgets like I find in most sites. So, this is exactly how it is done, thanks so much for sharing. The birdie btw, is really cute.

kitkupon July 11, 2011 at 5:27 am

Price of $17.40 is a wonderful price EVER! Thanks for info.

fas July 11, 2011 at 6:32 am

I thought John swears by HostGator?

Paul B July 11, 2011 at 8:35 am

Not if somebody pays him $500 for a review he doesn’t. Just remember you take everything with a pinch of salt where money is involved :)

Michael Laurin July 12, 2011 at 12:58 pm

True, but this was a guest post by Michael Kwan, not by John himself.

Kevin Kimes July 15, 2011 at 1:54 am

Michael Kwan, I believe, is basically a “staff writer” here. My guess is John pays him to write. Mr. Kwan is a self-proclaimed professional writer for hire, after all.

Resume Template July 11, 2011 at 6:47 am

That is really cool offer as there has been some consistent issues regarding proper hosting facilities at reasonable pricing. I Think this network will be the answer of my question. Thanks John for sharing.

The Web Hosting Hero July 11, 2011 at 6:50 am

Cp Web hosting? What’s that? Their “contact us” and “about us” links don’t even work. If you’re going to build an online business, don’t go for cheap web hosting. You always get what you pay for, don’t forget it!

Michael Laurin July 12, 2011 at 12:59 pm

They must have fixed it now. The links worked for me….

Kevin Kimes July 15, 2011 at 1:51 am

Yes. You get what you pay for, and hosting is the most vital service you can pay for with an online business.

This is one place you should not cut costs. If you need affordable hosting, HostGator is cheap enough without going into the sewers.

Michael Laurin July 11, 2011 at 6:57 am

Thanks for the post Michael. But seeing the other comments, and recalling previous posts, Host Gator seems to be the preferred web host of choice of a lot of people including the frequent commentors here. Granted technology always seems to get cheaper and cheaper over the years (my first web host cost $30 per month for a single domain almost 15 years ago), but I also subscribe to the adage “you get what you pay for”. So my question is, how does how does CP Web Hosting compare to Host Gator?

Kashif@Work Online Ways July 11, 2011 at 9:13 am

Very good question.. Most of us like Host Gator and its really important to distinguish it from the host gator..

Steven C. July 19, 2011 at 1:20 pm

Host Gator could also be the host of choice because they pay out $125/head in some cases for new clients, so affiliates push them really hard and you see their ads everywhere you go. I’ve used them for the occasional personal site here and there, and they are fine but I wouldn’t say the best. There are plenty of smaller hosts that will give you a much better overall experience and work with you as your hosting needs grow from the standard package up to a more advanced cluster of servers.

All that said, I’d probably take HG over CP.

Simon Martin July 11, 2011 at 9:30 am

I’m curious how they can make provide a service so cheaply, surely they would need to cut corners somewhere? I mean that’s half the price of many of their “cheap” competitors such as bluehost, hostgator etc. What is their customer service like?

Michael Kwan July 11, 2011 at 12:51 pm

They say they have a customer support center that they’re quite proud of, but since I’ve never used them myself, I can’t speak to the quality.

Michael Laurin July 11, 2011 at 1:11 pm

So….. just out of curiosity, do you use Host Gator?

Property Marbella July 11, 2011 at 1:19 pm

Over 5.000.000 websites trust HostGator for their web hosting.

Jobs In Nigeria July 16, 2011 at 5:53 pm

Even more than that, and the amazing thing is that their customer service is so good

Sara@WebLoverz July 28, 2011 at 9:53 am

Host Gator is a trust able hosting…that’s why they have 5 Million + customers from more than 200 countries…

Simon Martin July 11, 2011 at 3:53 pm

Yeah, I have an account with them.

Logo Design Guru July 11, 2011 at 10:42 am

Thank’s for an important information.

Michael July 11, 2011 at 4:47 pm

That is some pretty cheap hosting! Impressive. I wonder how reliable it is. I use host gator and pay around $120/year. Still cheap enough for me so I am hesitant to switch over.

Sara@WebLoverz July 24, 2011 at 11:58 am

Yes Host Gator is the Best as compared to others…

Real Man July 11, 2011 at 6:32 pm

Much as these guys look impressive with an incredibly record low price, I’m a bit concerned about how professional they are.

John, you were right to point out their spelling mistakes, but they haven’t corrected them yet.

I’m sure it works perfectly well but they just have a bit of cleaning up to do for their image.

Shawn Sears July 11, 2011 at 6:44 pm

I have heard that CP web hosting is very reliable, whats your thoughts

Letters Samples July 12, 2011 at 5:30 am

Yeah i have also hared about this….you can accept that is reliable…

Jobs In Nigeria July 16, 2011 at 5:49 pm

It’s pretty reliable too

Sara@WebLoverz July 28, 2011 at 9:55 am

If JohnChow.com is promoting it then it will be best…

PPC Ian July 11, 2011 at 10:11 pm

Wow! That is a really cheap price at $17.95 per year. I’m happy with my current hosting on HostGator but always looking to diversify hosts for my minisites – will keep this in mind.

Green Pro July 12, 2011 at 3:17 am

Its really amazing price of web hosting offer. Thanks for sharing this useful source.

It’s α̲̅ source of inspiration I agree with u

Whitney July 12, 2011 at 9:22 am

Wow, that’s really cheap! I already have Godaddy though, otherwise I would definitely try this company out!

Jobs In Nigeria July 16, 2011 at 5:47 pm

It’s quite cheap but might not be professional enough

BODHost Ltd July 12, 2011 at 2:34 pm

Review is quite nice and prices are attractive too, but offered resource on dedicated servers are not enough as compare to price tags. I wish them all the success in the web hosting world, but they should offer a large range of web hosting plans along with good resources to beat of the market’s giant fishes.

Erwin Miradi July 13, 2011 at 12:45 am

I think Hostgator is still the best. The service is good, and the live support is friendly. While Bluehost’s live support is really good in making bad situation seems worse.

Bogati July 13, 2011 at 5:22 am

Its better to go for the professional hosting plan than choose the cheap hosting.

Kashif@Work Online Ways July 13, 2011 at 1:18 pm

depends upon how much are you making in this business..

Jobs In Nigeria July 16, 2011 at 5:46 pm

@Bogati professional is wα̲̅γ̲̣̣̥ better

fazal mayar July 13, 2011 at 2:38 pm

that looks like a tremendously cheap deal but i prefer hostgator still :)

Sara@WebLoverz July 24, 2011 at 4:00 am

Yeah…they are still new so we cant compare them with HostGator…

Ansar July 14, 2011 at 6:28 am

Always remember “cheap” is not necessarily the _best_ way to go. Sure everyone wants to save a buck or 2 but remember that you only get what you pay for. Nothing is free in this life. No wait !! yes there are (2) things free..A smile and handshake. LOL
As far as the hosting goes hostgator is the best!

Sara@WebLoverz July 28, 2011 at 9:48 am
