I’ve been having a great time testing out my Canon S3 digital camera with its 12X optical zoom capability. Here’s an example showing the power of the zoom. This is the original photo without any zoom.

And this is the same photo with 12X zoom.

Pretty cool huh? The S3 makes a really good spy camera. Because of the flip and rotate view screen you can take photos without people knowing that you’re taking their photo. And because of the 12X zoom, you can capture them from really far away – like this shot I took of two love birds going at it.

They never knew what hit them. Hopefully, they don’t visit my blog or I could be in trouble. :D

Hey John, Looks like you’ve got a good camera there. Just wondering on how the zoom performs when it is darkish?

Also, two things: Is there any lag when you press the button for a photo (especially if you have the flash on,) secondly is the focus fast at locking onto the subject?

    Cheers!

There is very little lag and the focus is extremely quick. The camera can adjust the ISO up to 800 for dark photos, but I wouldn’t want to take it that high. I haven’t tied using the zoom in a dark situation yet but I will tonight.

The most impressive thing about that camera is the image stabilization.. Without it that long zoom would be useless! Very nice camera
