Ferrari Factory Tour And The Birth Of The 599

written by John Chow on April 17, 2007

How to make $593 in less than one hour

I came across this cool video from Motor Authority. At 611HP, the Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano is the most powerful production car Ferrari has ever made (Ferrari has made a more powerful limited production car, the Enzo). This comprehensive documentary reveals the behind the scenes action at Ferrari’s factory in Maranello and gives you a look at how the new 599 is brought to life. As much as I like the new 599, I like the looks of the F430 way more.

I will never own a car like this :)

Jeff Kee April 17, 2007 at 10:43 am

Not much of a car enthuisiast either, i just want to get a comfy, safe, and functional car. nothing more…

But then who knows? When I makea lot of money I’ll be tempted.

Ed Lau April 17, 2007 at 12:26 pm

The Fiorano is probably quite comfy with all that Italian leather. It’s very functional as it goes to 205MPH…what’s more functional than that?

Safe? Well…uh…did I mention how it sounds like a rusted chainsaw?

Jonix April 17, 2007 at 11:42 am

why do you say that dave? Because of the price, or because you don’t like this type of car?

Blogger-Rising April 18, 2007 at 6:10 pm

I will.

John, the big question is … are you evil enough to get one?

Saw 7 Ferrari FXX vehicles up close and personal this past at the Ferrari Challenge. Considering there are only 31 of the these super-Enzos in the world, seeing 7 in one spot was pretty amazing. Nice to see them being driven hard as well, although one was driven too hard and nearly ended up in a tire barrier.

Pretty cool! I’m not much of a car guy either, but I’ve take a tour of the Corvette Plant here where I live and thats pretty amazing too. I wish I had robots like that to clean my house!

UberDan April 20, 2007 at 3:59 am

I’ve got a tour of the Lotus factory booked for next week, i’m hoping for nice goody bag

Amanda April 17, 2007 at 11:43 am

I’m not a fan of the car but if it goes fast i love it.

we just sold a ferrari at where I work. pretty cheap too only like 138K it wasn’t moving at the 198 we were asking for it.

Court April 17, 2007 at 11:55 am

I would drive it. Maybe John will buy it for me if I link to his site enough.:)

Derrich April 17, 2007 at 12:19 pm

Great vid, John! Thanks for sharing.

uncle sha April 17, 2007 at 12:25 pm

John can i ask, what car do you drive anyway? I can’t recall you mentioning it over here

I just love cars with such ‘powers’ … every boys dream. But only a few lucky ones, rich & evil  ones I mean, will ever get behind of those

cheers

Simonne April 17, 2007 at 12:27 pm

 I live in a city with roads full of holes and bumps. I could not go too far with such a car  … Not that I could not afford one at any time

Alex April 17, 2007 at 1:04 pm

Great video, but I saw only 5 minutes of it. I don’t have time for the whole 45.

Xof April 17, 2007 at 1:53 pm

Yeah, saw that reportage on TV the other day… Insane!!

And I actually saw my first 599 on the street not too long ago – that’s San Francisco for ya ;)

Blogger-Rising April 17, 2007 at 2:22 pm

 Has anyone here even been in a Ferrari?
What’s it like?
Blogger-rising :???:

Daniele Salatti April 18, 2007 at 5:25 am

I have been in a Ferrari, but never drove one (it was during a show).

What’s like? A dream…I have been tempted to turn it on and give it a try…

Would be nice to rent one for marriage… They rent one for $11.019 (8.129 Euros) a weekend: http://www.freedom-tour.com/carrental/ferrari.html

Cognoscente April 17, 2007 at 2:34 pm

I haven’t had the pleasure of seeing one in motion or listening to its melodious engine/exhaust note yet, but I’m sure the 599 is magnificent.

My Ferrari model(current) preference: F430, 599 GTB, then the Enzo.

Article Checker April 17, 2007 at 4:09 pm

I actually watched the entire video…pretty amazing stuff. I may never own or drive a Ferrari in my lifetime, but I sure as hell can dream, right?

Glenn Hawkins April 17, 2007 at 5:58 pm

I ran across this car when looking at a car magazine before I got my teeth cleaned at the dentist. If I were to own a Ferrari it would be this or a 430..But I have to go with the Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera, or the Maserati GranTurismo.

Article Checker April 17, 2007 at 11:13 pm

The 430 is pretty sweet, isn’t it — if I had to drive a yellow car, this would have to be it.

Chapree Da Grande April 17, 2007 at 8:01 pm

Thanks for sharing this, dude!
Not everyday we got a grande tour of Ferrari factory.

Cash-Boy April 18, 2007 at 12:13 am

Sorry to upset Ferrari fans but there’s something about Ferrari I don’t like. Can’t quite put my finger on it… maybe cause it’s Italian (Just Kidding)

I love Porsche especially the Carrera GT, if the Carrera GT was a girl… I’d be on my knees(proposing) lol

ricardo April 18, 2007 at 1:10 am

Last weekend when I was gasing up my car, a brand new ferrari F430 stand by my side.
The old guy, from Liechtenstein, just told me one thing: “When I was young, I dreamed of such a car. I got 120’000€ saved and bought this. Now I can die happy

Damn, I agree with him.

Article Checker April 18, 2007 at 8:09 am

That’s a nice story, Ricardo; I wonder if John’s dream car story involves a Ferrari, too…

Best CD Rates April 18, 2007 at 4:02 am

yeah, what car do you drive currently john?

Blogger-Rising April 18, 2007 at 7:17 am

 If it’s speed that you like, check out the Ultima GTR, the fastest car in the world. The 720 GTR goes from 0 to 60 mph in 2.6 seconds. They call it the “multiple world record holding 200mph Ultima GTR supercar.” If I had to choose from the ten fastest cars in the world though,I’d pick the Bugatti Veyron. It’s a heavy one though, weighing about as much as a Female Blue Whale.
