Find a Job and Make Money with IPSOJOBS
Ipsojobs is a new job site from Spain that is trying expand their reach internationally. Their first step in that expansion process is to order a ReviewMe review from John Chow dot Com. Ipsojobs focuses on urgent employment. If you’re out of work and looking to get back on your feet fast, Ipsojobs can help. For employers, Ipsojobs offers a completely free way to post your job offers and find an employee fast. Online marketers will be interest in Ipsojobs because they can make money from it. More on that in a bit.
What is Ipsojobs?
When time is of the essence, Ipsojobs offers the swiftest and easiest means of finding employment or filling an urgent vacancy. Posting a job is very straight forward. All the information regarding the job is entered on one form. There is no need to register to the site in order to post or view a job offer. All you have to do is find the city that you want the job posted to and enter the job offer by clicking the Post your job offer link on the top left of the site.
Because Ipsojobs is focused on urgent employment, offers are be posted for only 10 days. After that time, they are be deleted from the database. If you haven’t found anyone by then, you’re free to repost the job.
Currently there are 2,426 active job offers worldwide, with the majority of them being in Spain. This isn’t surprising since Ipsojobs started in Spain. To help expand into North America and around the world, Ipsojobs has came up with a rather innovative revenue sharing plan.
Make Money Online with Ipsojobs
Ipsojobs offers you the opportunity to manage job postings in your city. As a City Manager, you’ll get 50% of the Google AdSense revenue from the advertising displayed in your city. You can request a city if it hasn’t been taken. The application ask for your Google AdSense publisher ID. 50% of AdSense ads displayed in your city will have your own AdSense code and the other 50% will go to Ipsojobs. This type of revenue sharing plans has been used successfully with forums but this is the first time I’ve seen a job site use it. You should set up a custom channel to track the ad performance.
What Are The Duties of a City Manager?
The City Manager has to keep the site clean from spam and inappropriate job postings. You will be given an online tool to check all the job postings and to filter out those job postings flagged as inappropriate.
The more you promote your city, the more traffic it will receive, and consequently, the more you will earn from the Google ads. Ipsojobs estimate that the average time needed to manage a city is around 7 hours a week. This might be higher in the beginning because of promotional efforts. Ipsojobs has a blog post on how to promote your city. This review is the first of Ipsojobs’ promotion plans. Their continued promotional efforts will benefit all city managers.
So far, the only US city that has been taken is New York City. The rest of the United State, all of Canada and most of Europe is up for grabs. If the idea of looking after a job board for 50% of the revenue sounds appealing to you, then better apply for your city now. You can apply for more than one city too.

Actually, you have to do a very very bad job to be booted, if you don’t have at least one job posting showing during some days (total inactivity) and you are one of the least visited cities worldwide (that means less activity that some really small cities in Spain), you are a serious candidate to be booted.
We want to keep the site clear and inactive cities are not an option to us.

in the long run..you don’t own your domain it’s them who owns it.. same concerns being raised.. adsense account..

If anyone signs up to this and makes more than a dollar this month, you’d better post back with a screenshot, I’ll fall off my chair.
“Online marketers will be interest in Ipsojobs because they can make money from it.” umm, no. They’ll more likely realise quickly that doing the dirty for 50% of someone elses penny clicks is about rock bottom.
Online scammers on the other hand will appply for 50 cities and let the spam build because spam chases away visitors (and they click on ads on the way out). I’m going to check back on this in 30 days.
Reply to this commentI just want to ad that it “guessed” my city wrong, I live 2500 miles from the city the site guessed me to be in.
The site also has a major flaw. They have a 160×600 adsense banner running on every page in the sidebar. When it comes time to pop your adsense code onto your job listings pages the site tries but Google denies the attempt.
Why? Because of the 160×600 ad in the sidebar, you can’t have ads from two accounts on one page so the page defaults to, you guessed it, their ads, not yours. Worse is that since adsense is confused as to what to do it defaults to ads “en espanol” or to companies in spain on many of the tries (where the company is located or the site was built I assume.)
This one needs work.

The site doesn’t guess any city for you, you must go to the worldwide home page and pick your city manually or go to the url of your city, for example http://norwich.ipsojobs.com/ or http://newyork.ipsojobs.com/
The adsense code is decided for each page request, and we put the very same adsense code in all the ads showing in the page.
The Spanish ads, I think it’s a temporary issue, we don’t control the ads showing it’s a google adsense decision, not ours…

We’re having managers making 3$ a DAY in Spain, with one or two cities, and think we only are 3 months old.
The scammers are checked by the ipsojobs team, we check every inserted ad, don’t just create the city and let it go on his own.
We even delete pyramidal scheme job postings because we want to keep the quality very high.

Reply to this commentEverything you said is totally true, you will most probably get more clicks if the visitors are chased out of the site by spam.
In my opinion it wasn’t a well thought out system. They should have created a system where city managers will get a % cut of the monthly revenue based on how many hits they recieved and how many jobs where posted.
Relying on adsense on income has been proved wrong many times, and I have no idea why they would opt in for such an option to managed their spam. A full time moderator would have done the job quite satisfactory in my opinion. If they monetize the site correctly they could earn much more than the wage for a moderator.

I think this site will gain users by offering this service, although i dont expect people to be making large sums from this service alone.

We asked google before starting the site, they answered that there’s no problem in showing different adsense codes in one site.
Additionally, the very same adsense code you are using in your blog or any other website can be reused in ipsojobs.com

Reply to this commentSomewhere above, the owner said that someone makes $3/day. That would be $90/month. Does it sound like a lot? Not to me :). Anyway, the IDEA by itself is great, imo, cause will attract lots of people thinking they`ll get rich over night by administering a job board. Good luck, though.
Reply to this commentI wouldn’t go for it just for the $3, good marketing people can make much more than that I assure you. Just imagine someone with the evil marketing skills like John doing it. He’s probably turn a region like Antarctica into the best performing section hehe.
There are two things that limit the potential to earn more from this site.
We all know google isn’t the best performer, so why limit us to just google adsense, they should allow moderators to manage their own ad structures using whatever affiliate they would want. I know it’s not easy to implement but I wouldn’t do it for just google adsese.
The other reason in that I don’t like promoting someone else’s site, they could easily kick me out after months of promotion and hard work.

Reply to this commentI just applied for two high profile cities. Their blog “how to promote your city” has some interesting information. I think if you’re willing to put in a half hour every day, to help start building momentum for your city, there could be pretty good results in the long run for the high profile cities.

I’d like an option to add something besides adsense. Figure that one out and you’ll attract a higher quality level of marketer and generate more revenue for the managers.
Of course you’ll have to then rent out those cities to make anything I suppose, since you won’t get 50% of adsense automaticaly.

Reply to this commentI’m going to take the chance. I requested and got Oklahoma City. The only problem I see right now is that when I visit a city which has ads I don’t see any Adsense ads. When will these show up? Without Adsense ads how are we to make any money?

Boston and NYC are high-profile cities, with LOTS of human resources - people looking for jobs. If you let them know somehow, through somekind of announcement on a local site, lets say, they`ll rush to seek for jobs. Same goes for companies looking for employers

That´s when it becomes interesting. But don´t forget to request your city in the mean time ! Otherwise it will be to to to late.
