[...] It would appear the boo.com is scheduled to re-launch in the not so distant future. The website is making a comeback after first going online in 1999 and emphatically burning through $120 million dollars funding in just –hold on to your chair- 6 months. The original boo.com was a fashion retail site making heavy use of Flash at a time when people would go online using 56K modems. Needless to say, the founders made a number of mistakes starting from the site’s design to renting extremely expensive retail space. It is not clear if the new site will also be about fashion retail or even if the people involved are the same who failed the first time (rumor has it that there is a new team involved.) In addition, there is not much information about who is providing financing for the new boo.com. In other words, we know very little about it but is hasn’t really stopped many in the blogosphere from giving their opinion about the who, what, where and why of the new boo.com. For example, you can read Techcruch’s rather neutral article, John Cow’s negative opinion and Tristan Louis positive take on the news. I’ll just leave you with a screenshot of the site’s new landing page. [...]

See what postulated as the theory of "Reciprocal Decline"? What Rattube is saying is that lack of integrity is eating away at the edifice called Digg.

John, you are better plced with your reputation to lead this another social networking platform that can equal and even beat Digg's record. Your ban is a blessing in disguise.

David - It's nice and clean but after reading the description, I still do not have a clear idea on what the site is really about. I think you should work on that.

In one way I would say scary to see all that stuff coming back, but then again - if somebody gets burned it is their own fault. The smart people will watch from the outside and benefit from the fallout. Only those who ignore history, will repeat history and then get burried in history.

Man, that is just wrong!!! I just submitted a story to BuzzFlash.net and it dissappeared. Then an hour later i see someone else has submitted the same exact story. Let's start our own digg/buzz site John and do it with integrity.

Regarding boo.com, I have to tell you this. About a year or so ago, I was on a whole "web nostalgia" kick and I ended up at boo.com, and it looked exactly like it does right now.

So the coming soon page is nothing new.

I'm glad you posted it though, I like talking about this "ancient web history". :)
