Forget Rich and Famous – How To Be Rich and Free

Being rich and famous isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. The money is great, but do you really want to live under a microscope, with paparazzis‎ following your every move? I like to offer a better alternative:

Be Rich and Free

Being rich and free means you have the money, and you can safely walk down the street without a security detail. That sounds like a much better deal to me. But how do you achieve it?

The Talking with John Chow Video Series

Marie Walker Riddle of Mom Between has a started a new video series call Talking with John Chow. She has been cornering me at the Dot Com Lunch, and anywhere else she can find me, to get me to spill the beans to the secrets of success.

The video below is actually the second in the series. In it, I condense the secret to making millions of dollars into two words. Do those two words and you too can be rich and free (you might end up famous too). I also talk dumb things people do, like trading freedom for freedom and time for money.

If you enjoy the above video, and want to see more, you can watch the first Talking with John Chow video here. I would love to hear what you think of these videos. Please let me know in the comments if you found them helpful.

I want the money but not the fame.

  3. Tamal says:

I think if you try to become famous, you will automatically become rich.

    1. John Chow says:

      Tell that to Mother Teresa.

      1. Nikoya says:

She could have cashed in if she had selected to do so.

      2. John D says:

John, “Mother teresa” Was very rich. You can google ” The real mother theresa”

This world is full of deception but that’s another topic…

        1. John Chow says:

Yes, she was rich but she never spent it on herself. Being famous does not automatically make you rich. There are tons of famous people who are poor or have gone broke. A few NBA players comes to mind.

          1. Nikoya says:

Yes anyone can loose their fortune, famous or not.

Rich people in general live in the realm of wealth and influence. The broke NBA player who is famous and well known can always quickly restore their wealth. When famous people are broke it’s different than Joe Shmo being broke. Famous people are commodities by themselves.

  4. It was a good interview. Thank you, John.

  5. Syed Qasim says:

Becoming rich is not a quick idea in now a days. We need to play the game of wait and see.

  6. Jon Rhodes says:

Very true John – money isn’t everything. You’ve got to create a great life – and the one you want.

I think many will agree what you said here about wanting time, money and financial freedom

    Thanks for your contribution John!

Why don’t you share with our readers some tips which can be easily done by mothers from their home?

    1. Working on some tips on my site soon. Taking what John is teaching and will apply it.

  12. Starting to study some of your techniques JC, looking forward to the journey.

  13. Great interview with some golden nuggets! You’re spot on about most people being trapped in the rat race trading hours for dollars just to get two days off. What a foolish game! Also like the idea of being rich and free vs being rich and famous.

  14. Shaun says:

Hi John, That saying is sooo true! – Be rich in your own right is the way to go. You can walk down the street and no one knows you from Adam. As I’ve said in the past I really enjoy reading your blogs.

Thats so true John… Being rich is not easy but you have done it in a right way.. thanks for this post John 🙂

  16. Noble says:

Great message. I loved the video. I could go for being rich and free. Fame isn’t free; you have no privacy. I could very well be the millionaire next door, and no one would even know. I could do without being famous.

  17. Andy says:

What was the two words? I missed it.

    1. John Chow says:

I guess you need to watch it again.

  18. Ha Another topic open to discussion from My friend John.

In my opinion Success is measured by how much you are willing to stand up for the Truth and ultimately the value you see and want to share with others! No matter how much rejection you get. Now that shows integrity, Leadership. and Self belief.

You can’t put a price on these qualities.

    Thanks again John

  19. To add further to my above post, Elvis wanted 3 things To Be RICH, FAMOUS AND HAPPY, he never had happiness. True happiness is your ability to recognise the situation as it is especially when life throws obstacles at you, as life begins when you encounter your first problems. Its at this point when u realise you are ‘Alive’ its at this crossroads were you are at your most vulnerable but most powerful! Be Powerful, take control and get your worth!

    John,
I just watched both the “Talking with John Chow’ videos and feel this is another great method of getting the experience and insights that you so willingly share. On another note, I envy Maria Riddle for living close enough to you to be able to have face to face access to you. My compliments to her on the beginnings of what looks to be a quality informative series of videos.

And to “Andy”…thought about telling you the “two words” but then remembered the old adage about the difference between “giving a man a fish” and “teaching a man TO fish”….And, though you should watch the whole video to help you retain the information, I WILL tell you to pay particularly more attention in the first two minutes.

    Regards,
    Joe

  21. Joseph Collins says:

P.S. John, my invitation extended to you at Affiliate Summit East 2013 still stands…anytime you’re in Philadelphia…I grille a mean NY Strip Steak with good beer (Sam Adams) and wine and you are always welcome.

    Joe

  22. Qasim says:

    Hi John,

Great video and great discussion, well there is no point in getting a lot of money without having the time to spend it on yourself and your family. Being rich means getting the money that you want to support yourself doing what you love in the time you want and that is different for each one of us.

  23. Keith Smith says:

Great discussion going on here. My take is that if you get rich ethically, happiness won’t evade you. As for being famous, we can leave that to entertainers.
