Goodbye Leipzig, Viva Las Vegas!

Germany was great fun and I wish I could stay longer but it’s time to pack my bags and fly to the land of the free and home of the brave. Flying from Leipzig, Germany to Las Vegas, USA will require three connections (Leipzig to Munich, Munich to Chicago, Chicago to Las Vegas) and 19 hours. I leave Leipzig at 1:20PM and land in Vegas at 11:50PM. While that may look like only 10 hours of flying time, you have remember that I am going back in time 9 hours.

I’m flying to Las Vegas for Blog World Expo. I am on two panels at this year’s Blog World and hopefully, I’ll be able to make it through them without falling asleep because of jet lag. If anyone knows of any known cure for jet lag, please let me know! If you see me on the Blog World show floor (or sleeping on the casino floor), make sure you say hi!

You shouldn’t have too much trouble with jetlag flying westbound. Vegas doesn’t sleep. 😉

On a side note, that’s technically three flights and *two* connections, but I’m a geek like that.

lol isn’t NYC known as the city that never sleeps. I guess that applies to Vegas as well. All the crazy stuff happens late at night 😉

Enjoy the flight John, glad you enjoyed Germany, after seeing the photos you posted, I think I’d go visit it sometime.

19 hours traveling is quite a long time, my record is 16 hours, and it’s not fun.

    Good Luck…

I’d also love to visit Germany.
Though, it’s not near the top of my list of travel destinations it’s definitely a place I’d like to see.

Cure for jetlag? Well I saw on discovery an experiment where two groups of people flew from the states to London. The one group did not eat during the night flight and the others did. The ones that ate had the usual jetlag, but the ones that didn’t eat landed up coping with the jet lag a lot better. The theory is that you mustn’t eat on the flight until you get to the other side, and when at the other side you should only eat at the appropriate time, i.e. Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner. So you shouldn’t come off the plane and eat straight away.
Use it, don’t use it 🙂

  11. Good to know you enjoyed your short visit to Germany.
The Porsche factory is nice, isn’t it. Been there some years ago and took the Cayenne to its limits on the off road track.

Btw, if you get a few hours of sleep on the long haul flight to Chicago, you should be fine. it is worth the other way round.

  12. John,

There are no cures for jet lag but try to take some valerium root before the flight.

Thats a lot of flying you are doing, just stay up all night to fix your jetlag.
