Happy Canada Day – Please Join Me for Burgers

written by John Chow on July 1, 2010

Make Money!

Normally, I don’t remember holidays because everyday is a holiday when you live the Dot Com Lifestyle. However, Canada Day is an exception. For one thing, the date is easy to remember – July 1 and it’s three days ahead of U.S. Independence Day. We get to have fun first! Like Independence Day, Canada Day is a celebration of our nation and what makes us great.

I received my Canadian citizenship when I was 12 years old and I’m proud to say I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world. I am fortunate to be living in Canada. More to the point, I’m fortunate to be living in Vancouver, the number 1 city in the world – and don’t just take my word for it. Vancouver has won best city honors for many years now. In the past, I couldn’t see myself living anywhere else in the world other than Vancouver. As I travel the world more I am starting to see other possibilities. However, no matter where I may end up, Canada and Vancouver will always be home base for me.

Join Me For Some Great Burgers

I will be celebrating Canada Day at the Canada Day Yaletown Street Party. Come on down today to the 1200 block of Hamilton Street in Yaletown for an entire day of fun, food and celebration of what makes Canada great. I’ll be judging a competition to find the best burgers in Yaletown. The competition starts at 4PM in front of SOCIETY. Come on down and have a burger on me! Happy Canada Day!

It’s strange here in New Zealand we don’t really have an official day of celebration! perhaps we need a bit more patriotism.

College To Careers July 1, 2010 at 6:25 am

I may have a burger here in San Francisco to celebrate :-)

Insurance Izzy July 1, 2010 at 9:44 am

So when exactly did Canada Day start? Just curious about the history behind it. After all, we know American Independence Day started July 4, 1776 and for what reasons. I’m not quite as familiar with Canadian history :)

I’m not Canadian, but I’ve never met one I didn’t like. Happy Canada Day, John!

Yes, i agree, Vacouver is a great city (we have very good friends from Denmark living there for many years) and there are something similar in the Canadian approach to life that is similar to the one in my home country small Denmark (world’s oldest kingdom and may be world’s strongest democracy :-) so congratulation!

Best wishes for a peaceful world.

If I could just stroll over, I’d have one with you. Enjoy Canada, and have one for me. Pics or it didn’t happen.

How’d it go for Canada day? How were the burgers? That’s great you’re having fun for your country’s celebration. It’s only a couple more days and I’ll be going on a road trip so I can’t wait! Plus, I know how that feels to miss your town.

Wherever I go, Chicago is my kind of town. I grew up here and will always see it as the place which has been keen to my heart.

Thanks for sharing!
