Happy Mother’s Day

Tonight, I will be taking two mothers out for dinner. My mom and Sarah (Sally’s mom) will be joining me and my dad for a nice family get together at the Boat House in Richmond.

As much I enjoy Dot Com Pho meet ups, family get togethers offer special meaning. Family is the foundation of growth. I think most of the problems we face in today’s society is caused by the break up of the family unit.

Generally speaking, Mother’s Day is always a bigger deal than Father’s Day because it was our mother who raised us. At least that’s how it was when I was growing up. With the way the world is working now, I wonder how long it’ll be before we have a Happy Daycare Day?

To all the moms out there. This is your day. Enjoy it and take every opportunity possible to remind your kids how much of a pain they were/are. It’ll be your only day to do so.

Happy Mohther’s Day!

Mothers are the biggest influence in your early years and should always be appreciated. Happy Mothers Day!

That was nice of you lot. Unfortunately, I've never really gotten along with my mother.

We love you Moms!

It is good to spend time with your family. I hope you enjoyed it John.

It is a good time to spend with family and I'm sure John enjoyed it very much. Next month it will be Father's Day so I'm sure John will enjoy that as well and Sally will take her dad to the park

I had to do work on Mothers Day for something that was due today. Amazing how some people who have mothers don't give crap.

This mother's day was very special for me this year. My daughter is now married and has a wonderful husband. They took me out to dinner and it was so nice. So I think that was great for you to take your mom's out and show them that they are appreciated.

I got my mom her favorite cologne set and that was it from me :P

I think mothers deserve this day more than any one else because my mom had to go through so much to raise me because I know I was a trouble child

Thanks John I appreciate it :) Today was doubly special because it was my son's birhtday as well, he turned 25. Gosh I am getting old

My Mother's Day was the utter best ever - the kids hand-made me cards, the husband got me what I wanted (caviar!), we had a great lunch at the local Chinese buffet and then went to see Speed Racer (superbly done!).

Wrote The 12 Days of Mother's Day too - that was enjoyable! http://tinyurl.com/4crzoj

Happy Moms Day all,

Barbara

Happy Mothers Day ! Is it a bit late ?
What is strange that in europe , mother`s day is on the 8 th of March. :D

I live in the UK and as I read the post I was getting this weird feeling and I was thinking "I'm sue we celebrated this already this year".

I did not know we celebrate it at different times f the year.

Late but Happy Mother's Day for every mother out there.

Hm, very strange...I have never heard about this holiday here in Russia...

Well, happy mother's day)))

Happy Mother's Day to all the Mom in the World... :)

daycare day would make a lot of sense... i think there is already a teachers day, and a secretary's day, presidents day....
nice touching post

Happy Mother's Day !

ya.............mother is a job that supercalifragilisticexpealidociously difficult=)

Mother's Day is to celebrate those people who have the biggest but quietest influence in our lives. It can be mom who balances work and home beautifully or grandma who stuns you with her spirit and courage. It might be your daughter, sister or your friend! These women touch our lives and make it better!

Happy Mothers Day :-)

Very nicely said. I couldn't agree more.
Happy Mother's day to every mother out there

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY to all the Mom's out there

And to all the kids of the Mothers I hope you did something nice for your Mom on this once a year day. Shouldn't Mother's Day be every day though considering they are mothers every day?

Nice Mom's Day video. My mom has been sick for the last year, so I'm more thankful than ever for her this year.

I agree, the world is going to hell and family breakdown is part of it.

Thanks for taking the time to appreciate mothers.

“I think most of the problems we face in today’s society is caused by the break up of the family unit.”

I couldn't agree with you more John.
Thank God for mothers that love their children!
Happy Mother's Day!

i m also far away from my mother but my kids celebrated with my wife.
BTW--Mother's Day in my country was few days ago.

Mother's Day for me is really sad because I'm away from home...

Sorry you're sad you're away from you mom but hopefully you were still able to speak to your mom for a while to tell her how much you love her and care.

Wow just think, Hallmark could come up with another holiday. How about Happy Day Care Mother's Day?

I think the retail industry has already come up with enough holidays.... Mother's, Father's, Children's, Valentine's and more... we really don't need more of them!

happy mother days to all mother in the world!

John, I take my hat off to you.
I had no mother for nearly 40 years (as mine died when I was 8). All of a sudden I got married and I had a mother again. Needless to say, we're about to go out to dinner tonight with her and all of her kids.
Take care,

Happy mothers day to all! I too made a blog post about mothers day, though yours is about 20x longer than my post haha. Nice one.

just had mother's day lunch with the family myself:) with out hectic daily lives, it's not often that we stop to really appreciate the most important woman in our lives...everyone give your mother a big kiss and tell them you love them!

I agree with your thoughts on family ties and society. Last night I was watching a "Most Evil" where they rated serial killers. Everyone of those folks had terrible horrible child hoods.

Happy mothers day !!!!!!!!!

"I think most of the problems we face in today’s society is caused by the break up of the family unit."
I don't know, John. If one looks back at the big picture of family histories over the centuries, divorce was never the easy escape route that it is today. But the challenges of single parents, cheating spouses, abandoned children and abuse of various family members have been with us since the dawn of time. If anything, the societal problems we face today seem to be happening DESPITE a trend of better parenting and the advent of the smartest, most responsible generation of kids this planet has ever had.
That said, your main point is a good one: Happy Mother's Day, y'all! And don't forget to call your grandmothers and siblings who are raising your nephews and nieces, either. Cheers.

Happy Mother's Day to all. BTW, I totally agree with the Happy Daycare Day... or even better... Happy Sit At Home While Mommy and Daddy Work Day!

Happy Mother's day. I like this line: I wonder how long it’ll be before we have a Happy Daycare Day?

Well said and Happy Mother's Day to everyone also! We really need to cherish all the precious family moments while we still can!

Happy Mother's Day to everyone!!! I have celebrate this special day with very normal but very warm!! You know what I did? Actually is what my sister and I did... we just cooked dinner for our parent but it is really lovely and warm... just a little sharing~~ hope that you guys can share with me how you all celebrate mother's day!!

Happy Mothers Day...but I think my video was better

Happy Mothers Day everyone

Happy Mothers Day! :)
