As some of you may know, I am in the final round of a Ruff PC giveaway. I have stated that if I win the Ruff PC laptop, I would give it away to a lucky John Chow dot Com reader. To win the contest, I need to have the most votes by January 4, 2008.

Actually, I did talked about this in my post announcing the winner of the Google gift.
John did talk about this, but he did not ask us to tell all of our friends to vote for him.

I see that you’ve placed an ad banner at the top of each post John, but is it too late? Techtreak is beating you by over double the votes.

There is still plenty of time (until January 4) for things to develop in John’s favor. About 24 hours ago, he had over 80% of the total votes. Since we are not talking about tens of thousands of votes here (there are less than 1k total votes at the moment of writing), just about anything can happen.

I see that he has gained about 200 other votes since the last time I’ve visited and, since his blog has a lot more traffic than the main competitor (who also seems to have gained about 200 votes since yesterday), he should be able to win as long as the other person plays fair.

You should put the stumbleupon and other links in a more noticeable place maybe with icons! It took me going to the “TechTreak” website and noticing his stumbleupon icon right on top before I came back to check and see if you had them! I neglected to scroll to the bottom of your post and missed them.

Not to mention he has a terrible review with a lot of grammatical errors and most of it is just copy pasted descriptions of the different models. Seriously, Ruff PC needs to do some auditing on the poll.

Yup, like I mentioned in the last post, there’s no way Techtreak could have that many votes. The review isn’t that good, so I find it hard to believe people are just voting honestly for his review.
He hardly has a single comment on his entire blog, so he sure isn’t getting it from his readers. Either he set something up, has another website, or the contest is rigged so they don’t actually have to give away a computer , lol.
Btw, all three contest phases are being added together. So you need a couple hundred to catch up from the last two rounds, and another couple hundred for this round.

Tech Treak has been leading for 2 days now. I wonder where he gets his voters. He isn’t offering the laptop as a prize if he’d win it. But he has that thing on his blog “help me get a laptop” or something. Anyways if all RSS subscribers would vote for John here…
I’m not suggesting cheating or anything but John your total vote count on that widget is raising steadily but the tech site votes are jumping 40-50 at a time.
I was playing with the widget code to see if it’s compatible with another application and so I was seeing fresh results for a few hours last night. Anyone else notice the same? He sure is giving you a run on this one.
