His Banana Is Bigger Than My Bananas

written by John Chow on December 1, 2006

How one lazy bum made $176,697.50

In the never-ending game of one-up-man-ship, Josh Kaufman has one-upped my two related posts dancing bananas with this MC Hammer happy yellow dude.

Everyone knows that John Chow has one of the most popular blogs in the entire universe and everyone knows that I jacked his misty-look wordpress theme, but what I don’t think everyone knows is how much bigger and better my banana is than his. Don’t just take my word for it folks, see for yourselves.

Can't Touch This!

For a comparison, these are my bananas: Dance! The only thing I have to say is, “Can’t touch this!”

Wow…this is possibly the stupidest thing ever posted…in the history of blogging.

Ever.

ProTibet December 1, 2006 at 12:34 am

Where did you guys get this bannana anyways? Does it comes with the theme itself?

John Chow December 1, 2006 at 12:40 am

I can’t remember whre I got my bananas. But you can use them if you like.

I wonder who invented the dancing banana and it’s older generations. I wonder if they knew it would become so popular.

jon can you post some useful posts for once?

John Chow December 1, 2006 at 2:38 am

You mean you didn’t get a laugh out of that? I’m sorry. :(

wow… that is one big banana. I’ll be taking some of its moves and busting them out at my company’s Christmas party.

Josh Kaufman December 1, 2006 at 6:34 am

@Anon

Sorry. I will try harder. I am a wannabe remember?

@ProTibet
I don’t know the origins of the great banana, but he was made famouse by a very popular flash animation called “Peanut Butter Jelly Time”.

It was even popular enough to be spoofed on Family Guy when Brian dressed up like the Banana and performed the PB&J Time dance to try and cheer up sad Stewie.

This concludes the world’s longest comment reply.

for those who asked about the origins:

any dedicated netizen has gotta love the banana :D

can’t believe this… this guy steals your idea, template and everything, and you even push traffic to his site?! unbelievable …

John Chow December 1, 2006 at 11:42 am

vurdlak – The template is available to anyone. I don’t own it. And I got a laugh out of the post. It was good link bait.

Ed Lau December 1, 2006 at 12:17 pm

You should see how many people copy John’s blog. Mine looks similar but I made it a point not to use his misty-look theme. But then again, there are only so many viable wordpress themes so you really can’t blame people.

Tony December 1, 2006 at 12:19 pm

@vurdlak

John is trying to DoS that site with a traffic spike! haha.

John – what else is left to linkbait you with? You already have the ‘World’s Largest RSS’ button… the only thing (images wise) left is that car in the header, and I don’t think that ‘bigger is better’ applies.

Josh Kaufman December 1, 2006 at 5:43 pm

@ Tony
Although this post did drive a lot of traffic to my site today (thanks John), I actually got more traffic today from Google than I did from this post.
