How I Look If I Was Made of Food
written by John Chow on July 12th, 2007
According to Life Goggles, my blog has over 240 photos of food! I know I love to eat but I didn’t know I’ve taken that many food pics. There are lots of things you can do with pictures of food. Life Googles thought it would be cool to turn all my food photo into a mosaic of me enjoying my food.
Click on the above image to see the hi-res image. The mosaic was created using Andrea Mosaic, a freeware program that lets you create your own photographic mosaics made with your own pictures.
Now watch everyone mosaic famous bloggers to get a plug.

Nice! Here’s a web-based mosaic generator that you don’t have to download…

Reply to this commentThanks for the link, CW. I just downloaded the AndreaMosaic thing, it didn’t take a long time. I guess I’ll have to try both of them out.
Reply to this commentJust tried out that link you suggested. It’s great and all, but all you can do is pick the matrix and the program provides all the tiled pictures for it. With AndreaMosaic, you can use your own pictures for the tiles.
Reply to this commentThat’s the one I tried. I liked it.

Reply to this commentI read the tutorial, quite easy to follow actually. You just save all your pictures, pick a matrix or main photo, and the program analyzes everything, does all the hard work for you. It’s pretty sweet.
Reply to this commentYeah, I downloaded this a few minutes ago and had a look at it. It looks pretty straight forward.
Reply to this commentI had trouble uploading it to a post though. I think the file became too big.

Reply to this commentJust to reply to some posts (on my brother’s behalf who made it):
Simon asked: Did you have to find each individual picture?
Yes, but it was easy with a search and then just a process of downloading them.

I’m pretty sure there’s some processing going on - tinting pictures etc by the looks of it. You can tell if you look closely as some pictures are repeated and look different.

Nope he doesn’t. AndreaMosaic is a great little programme but it still took a few attempts to get it looking good (even if the food does look like a big fried egg) and the more pictures the better. It took a little time to do but it was worth it and the results are impressive.
Reply to this commentThat’s impressive. I’ve seen similar things done in the past but to do it from photo’s you’ve posted yourself is outstanding. Congrats to the artist!
